Chapter Two

We found a small open space on the grass cluttered with popcorn boxes and beer bottles. Holly kicked a few aside and we sat. She inhaled deeply and stretched her legs out in front of her.
"This is the life," Holly said, pointing both hands at the ground. I looked around us.
"What, sneaking in a concert of a band I have never heard and mingling with people who have long hair and smell like beer?" I asked her.
"Are you always this optomistic?" Holly looked over at me as the lights over the seats dimmed. I laughed.
"You should know," I told her. She shook her head.
"But seriously," she said, "just being here is a thrill."
"Maybe for you," I sighed, tucking my legs under me. "I had nothing better to do."
"Like you, or I for that matter, ever do?"" Holly asked. "Its our life, Whitney, we're boring people." I looked away from her. "Whitney, you need to lighten up. Stop denying the fact that-" Holly stopped when she noticed me staring off. "What?"
"Him," I said, not looking away.
"Who?" Holly asked, squinting her eyes. The guy I had been staring at glanced over in my direction and I quickly moved my stare from him to straight ahead. "Ohh." Holly said. "Do you know him?"
"No," i shook my head. "I just bumped into him ont he way in here," i glanced back in his direction and he was watching me. He slowly stood and started to walk in my direction. A flutter of nervousness passed through me.
"Ooh, he's coming over here," Holly quietly told me. I smiled.
   "Okay, okay, this
is the life," I told her as he came closer.
