Chapter Six

After I took my showe, I got out and Ayanna headed in. "Hey," I asked Johnny, "Can I use your phone?" He nodded and pointed to the cordless laying on the counter. I laughed to myself as I passed through the living room with Jordan, Emily, Holly, and Nikki all dozing in various places. I stpped out into the warm beach air and inhaled the salt-scented air. I sat on the wooden patio, letting my feet dangle off. I glanced at my hand which held Abs' phone number. I was careful not to wash it off in the shower. I dialed the number and put the phone up to my ear.
"Hello?" Abs answered after the second ring.
   "Abs?" I asked.
   "Yeah, its him," he replied.
"Oh, hey, this is Whitney, you know, from the concert last night?"
"Of course I remember you. How are you?"
"I'm just fine, thanks" I replied.
"Good, good. Hey, do you want to go out tonight? Maybe for dinner or something?" Abs asked me.
   "Sure!" I smiled.
"Great. Where, um, do ya live?" he wondered. I glanced quickly around me.
"I'm staying with a friend at the moment," I blurted out. "Do you know where North Beach is?"
   "Yeah"
"He owns the beach house," I told him. "I'll be here."
"Great. So will I." he replied. We said our goodbyes and hung up. My stomach growled and I looked at my empty stomach. I walked back in the house and grabbed and apple out of the bowl on the table. I sunk into one of the chairs across from where Johnny was sitting. I watched him.
"What?" he asked when he realized I was looking at him.
   "I need a huge favor," I said.
   "Uh oh," he replied.
"Nothin bad," I said. "I have a sort of a date tonight and he's coming to pick me up, and is it okay if I hang around here until he picks me up? I can just wait outside."
"Yeah, whatever," Johnny shrugged and went back to looking at his surfing mag.
"Really?!" I jumped up. I hugged him quick and began to walk back into the living room.
"It's not that big of a deal," he called after me.
"It is to me!" I yelled back. "Holly!" I called out, prepared to tell her the wicked news.
