Chapter fourteen

Nikki:
Whitney walked into our flat straight past Abs Scott and I and into her room everyone else was gone. Scott went to go after her but I stopped him "Let me go" he nodded and let me past. I walked into Whitney's room to find her throwing things into a suitcase. "Whitney what are you doing?" I asked. She looked up her eyes red from crying. "I'm going Nik ok." she said tears starting to fall from her already tear stained face. "But Whit why?" I asked again. She just shook her head and continued packing. "it's J and Scott right?" I asked knowing her all to well. She nodded and sat down putting her head in her hands. I went over to her and rubbed her back resting my chin on her head cradeling her like a baby. Like I used to when she was smaller and her parents had died. "It's gonna be ok." She looked up and smiled.

Whitney: I had a long talk with Nikki and felt a little better I had decided on staying I still hadn't figured anything out about Scott or J yet but so far I think I'm just gonna have a break from both. I walked out into the loungeroom following Nikki. I looked upto Scott he knew we had to talk. We both made our way outside. I sat down on the grass pulling little bits out. "Scott you know I really like you right?" he nodded. "And I really like you too." "But Scott this is just kind of a bad time." "But Whitney why?" I looked into his blue eyes. "Scott I can't really answer that right now I wish I could but I can't." I saw his eyes slowly fill with tears. "Is it for good?" I closed my eyes and let a small tear trickle down my face. I placed a hand on his face. "Scott at the moment all I can say is everything is going to be ok."

Scott: I looked into Whitney's eyes and my heart sank. I swallowed. "So are we calling this quits for....ever?" I asked, trying to rephrase my question and get an answer.
"I can't say," Whitney quietly replied, wiping at her face. I reached up and wiped away a tear that fell with the back of my hand. She reached up and took her hand in mine. I leaned in and kissed her, long and softly. She held the side of my face with her free hand. When we let go, she looked at me, her eyes red and bloodshot.
"Did I change your mind?" I asked, hoping for a good answer. She slowly shook her head no.
"This is so hard for me," she whispered. "Kissing you...it'll just make it harder." She slowly let go of my hand and stood and walked back into the house, leaving me outside by myself.
