| Chapter Eleven Nikki: "...and that's how I ended up back at Scott's room...and I hope I don't have to go into details," Whitney finished telling me. I sat there, taking it all in. "What? I mean...how could you...? I thought things were good with J?!" I exclaimed. "They are," Whitney replied. "...but now they're good with Scott, too." "Too?" I repeated. She looked down. "Whit, this is crazy. You can go on with two guys at once. What are you going to do about J? He loves you!" "Great," she muttered. "What?" I asked. "I'm not only going to be getting crap from J when he finds out, God knows how long it is until he finds out...but the one person I could trust with this kind of information is raggin on me too." "No..Whit," I said, getting up and sitting on the bed next to her. "I am here for you. I always am, you know that. I'm just worried about who's feelings are going to get hurt. J's like a brother to me. He is, actually...a brother-in law." She simply nodded. "You need to decide who is more important to you." She looked up at me. "It's not that easy, Nikki," she sharply responded. "You've never had this problem. Not even close. You've got it cut, dried, and laid on the table for you with Abs. One guy, done deal. I'm in love with two guys. Two, Nikki. I can't just "pick". Its not that simple." Tears were forming in her eyes and I wrapped my arm around her. "Sorry," I whispered. "I guess I don't know what it's like." She laughed a bit and wiped away a tear. "Thank you," she replied. Whitney: A day had passed and no one leaked the secret. We were once again back on the bus and it was nighttime. After yet again going to McDonald's, we were all beat. I laid in the bunk J and I shared alone. He was talking to Ritchie about something or other and said he'd be in in a while. I stared at the ceiling, bored and wide awake. I heard the muffle talking of Ritchie and J and wanted to know what they were discussing. I got up and started to make my way toward them. I stopped when I could make out what they were saying. "So did she give you her number?" Ritchie loudly whispered to J. I frowned. Whose number? "Nah, mate, just one of those things," J responded. I gripped the wall I was holding on to. "She was hot," Ritchie replied, a bit dreamily. A sick feeling formed in my stomach. "Yeah, yeah," J laughed a bit. "Does Whitney know about her?" Ritchie said. They were lowering their voices each time and I had to strain to hear them. "Nah, man. What's the use? She'd just be pissed," J replied. I turned around and slowly started walking back. I couldn't hear anymore. I stopped in front of my bunk. Me, Scott, and Sean were the only ones trying to get some sleep. I looked up at Scott's bunk across and up from mine. I climbed up and opened the curtain that fell over Scott's entrance to the bunk. He was sleeping. I climbed in next to him. I moved my face toward his. "Scott," I whispered in his ear. He slowly opened his eyes and smiled when he saw me there. "What are you doing here?" he quietly asked. I put my finger to my lips. "Shhh," I said as I leaned down and kissed him. "Wait...here?" Scott stopped me. "No one will know," I quietly replied. He smiled and kissed me again. Nikki: I was sitting in the back of the bus, as usual, with Abs. He was listening to something on his headphones and I was looking out the window, watching things as we passed. I happened to look over toward the aisle of the bus to see J open the curtain over his bunk, stop, and come back out. I panicked a bit. J walked back toward me. "Hey Nik," he said, stopping in front of me. "Do you know where Whitney is? She's not in the bunk..." "Oh..yeah, she's...um.., oh, see, she wasn't feeling well and went to lie down in my bunk instead," I quickly lied. "Why didn't she just come in her own?" J asked, a bit puzzled. "Well, um," I started again. "She...knew you were coming. Yeah, she knew you were coming and she was afraid you might wake her up." "Oh," he said, looking a little disapointed. "Well, if she happens to wake up, tell her to come to ours." I nodded. "Sure thing," I forced a smile at him. When he left, Abs looked over at me. "What did he want?" he asked, taking his blasting headphones off. "Nothing," I sighed. "Nothing at all. Chapter Twelve... |
