| Chapter Thirteen Whitney: I brought my trembling hands up to my face and touched my forehead. I was beginning to get a headache. "Are...you sure? Was he absolutely clear on what he was telling you?" I nervously asked Nikki. We were sitting in the food court. I had a water in front of me as did Nikki. "Crystal," Nikki sighed. I closed my eyes. "Nikki, J can not ask me to marry him!" I wailed. "He would expect an answer and I would give it to him...well a normal relationship would have a normal answer just a quick cry, hug, kiss, and start picking out wedding invites. But no, I had to go and screw it up and now we're not normal anymore, so its not going to be an immediate normal reaction. I mean-" "Whitney!" Nikki stopped me. I stopped and looked over at her. "You're rambling." "Oh," I said, looking down at my water. My ice was slowly melting. Just like everything else in my life. "When is he going to do it?" Nikki shrugged. "That's about the only thing I don't know," she replied. "He just told Abs and I he was planning on doing it, he never said when." I sunk down in my chair and sighed. "What...what am I going to do?" I asked, throwing up my hands. "Well," Nikki said, taking a sip of her water. "do you love him?" "Of course I do," I replied. "Do you love Scott?" she asked. "I did....and I'm afraid I still do," I responded. Scott: I walked around the parking lot, bored to death. J and Sean were out to the mall and so were Whitney and Nikki. Ritchie and Abs went out...somewhere, and all was left was John and I, but John wasn't always the most exciting person to talk to. He was, after all, our bus driver. I wished Whitney could come back so maybe we could sneak in a snog. I was dying for a good snog from her. My mobile rang and I smiled, wondering if Whit had read my mind. "Hello?" I answered, a bit dreamily. "Scott, hi," a voice on the other line said. It was deathly familiar, but certainly not Whitney. "Wh-who is this?" I managed to ask, praying it wasn't who I thought it was. "It hasn't been that long, has it Scott? It's Kerry, silly," she laughed. I closed my eyes and swallowed. "Oh. Sorree," I simply replied. "How are you?" she wondered. "Couldn't be better." "Good to hear." "Look, Kerry, is there a reason you called? Because if not, I have to go, someone might be trying to get ahold of me," Scott sighed. "Well, if you really want to get to the point, I guess I'll just go ahead and get it over with," Kerry replied. "I wish you would," I said. "Brace yourself, Scott, this could take a bit," she warned me. Chapter Fourteen... |
