| Summer air reminds me of All the feelings of your love And what it was like When we were together I sat in the warm coffee house, slowly sipping my iced cuppuchino. I looked out the window, the rain now falling at a steady pace. I sighed, knowing the remander of the day would most likely be like this. As my eyes trailed back, I noticed the newspaper sitting on the table next to me. I glanced around me as I cupped my styrofoam cup in my hands. I got up, grabbed the paper and sat again. Walking all along the beach You were never far from reach And you held me Through the stormy weather I opened the paper, scanning over it, not expecting to find anything atonishing. It was, after all, the tabloids. Cheaters, boyfriends, girlfriends, and more scattered the pages. I took another sip and was about to close the paper and return it to it's orignial spot when something caught my eye. And I want to fall in love tonight And I remember when you said, "Everything is gonna be alright." I stared down at a face I knew all too well. The structure of his face I had studied, touched, loved, for so long. The bright, wide blue eyes, the million dollar smile. I realized I was gripping my cup and lightened my hold. I pulled the paper toward me and began to read. "Ritchie Neville from UK's #1 pop band, Five, has been dateless for quite some time now. The usual bachelor lad is seen with several women at occasions like movie premears and such. His massive breakup with actress Whitney Phillips has left him lonely. The couple, seen in the spotlight nearly nightly, were inseperable. Marriage rumours had been drifting through gossip news, but before before anything was official, the couple split early this year. Ritchie's bandmate J Brown comments on his situation. 'We have seen Ritchie go through a lot of changes these past 5 or 6 months. The breakup was hard, but I'm sure we'll see him back on his feet again soon.'" Laying in the summer grass You told me not to talk so fast As I told you how I feel "Whitney," a voice interrupted my reading. I jumped a bit, almost spilling my drink. "We're closing up," Tony, the manager informed me. "Oh, sorry, Tony," I apologized, getting up and gathering my things. I paused as I held the newspaper in my hand. "Tony? Can I take this with me?" I asked, holding up the paper. "Knock yourself out," Tony replied, wiping down the counters. "Thanks," I said, tucking the paper under my arm and grabbing my cup. "I'll see you tomorrow!" You made me feel right at home You told me I was not alone And you knew just how I feel I know we talked about it I just can't get around it I just want one more night with you Just as I opened the door the rain came down harder. I walked out in the rain, I only had a few blocks to go. I walked slowly, my mind thinking back on what I had just read. *Flashback* I held on to Ritchie's hand as we walked down the red carpet, such a familiar scene for us. "Whitney! Whitney!" I heard a voice yell. I turned my head toward the voice. "Can we ask you some questions?" The reporter wondered. I nodded and Ritchie and I headed her way. "What's it like being the most well-known couple in the media right now?" I smiled as I looked over at Ritchie. "It's....different," I laughed. *End Flashback* October air reminds me of All the feelings of your love And what it was like When we were together. This was the first time since our breakup that I had thought back on our relationship and just how much I really did love him. The rain matched my mood, cold and dreary. I turned the corner, only a block and a half from my home. I wasn't paying attention and I ran into someone coming the opposite way I was. "Sorry," I apologized, not looking at the person, moving out of the way and beginning to walk again. "Sorry," the male voice replied. He began to walk. I stopped. There had been something incredibly familiar about that voice. The smell of fall is everywhere And though it seems, I just don't care 'Cause now you've gone away. I turned around, standing in the middle of the sidewalk. I watched as he stopped and slowly turned and faced me. My heart skipped a beat when my thoughts were confirmed. There stood Ritchie, his hair flat from the steady rain. I took a couple of steps toward him, seen as how neither of us were moving. "Hi," I breathed. "Hey," he smiled. And I want to fall in love tonight And I remember when you said "Everything is gonna be alright." |
