Chapter 1...

I saw it.

There it was: an unknown thing floating through this place. I moved closer. My companions were complaining whether or not this is wise. I ignored both of them.

I can see inside. A humanoid creature with blue skin. Blue? Oh well, I'm a also weird color. It was unconsious, probably from lack of air in this place. I had adapted well. I used my life stone to move in this anti-gravitational area. It is like what an icon is to other sprites.

My sister has one too but no one else knows what it really is. She uses a phony icon to pass as a sprite. She has been living in the net for hours while I am lost here.

I wrapped my body around the capsule and directed it towards a data storm. In the center of the storm, there is a small, flat planet where this sprite will find refuge. The inhabitants of the planet are all made up of banished, injured or lost sprites so surely they will take care of another like themselves. They are fierce towards enemies but are not barbaric.

As I entered the planet's gravitational field, the capsule got heavier and I could no longer fly with it. We were falling at a great rate. I had to change back.

When we entered the atmosphere, the sprite's eyes opened. He stared at me with his eyes so wide I thought they would pop out of his head. He stared at my face which was still shiny green from the transformation. I stared back in surprise and tried to change quickly.

I wasn't paying attention to the landing procedure and it was a shock to me as the capsule crashed. I was scolding myself for not being ready when I remembered the sprite. I looked at him. He was unconsious again from the crash and had cuts on his face from the broken glass of the capsule.

My companions were shaking from the crash. I promised them I wouldn't do that again. I looked at the sprite again. His breathing was shallow and very uneven. I was afraid he wouldn't make it. My companions were great at healing, but they will become easily exhausted. It didn't matter anyways because this wound was too complex for them to heal.

I had to heal him myself.

I bit into his silky flesh with my fangs. I left two holes in his neck. I looked at his icon. It was black and yellow. I tried to remember what my sister told me this meant. It meant he was a Guardian. No wonder he tasted different.

I was on a plain of blue grasses. There were small hills nearby where the planet inhabitants resided. I transformed into my other form. When I was complete, I screamed. The people living in the hills would come to investigate.

My companions sensed it long before I did. When I saw them coming, they were just three specks in the sky. I focused on my life stone to lift me off this planet. I can use my life stone to do this only in this place. I am built to be a fighter and a swimmer, not a flyer.

When I was out of the data storm, I began to float off. I had nothing else to do. I was trapped in this barren world, waiting for someone or something to get me out. I can live fine in this world but it will be so lame. I seek adventure like my sister does only she is clever at hiding it.

My sister and I are two of the three of our kind left. The third is too young to know what she really is. She is living as a sprite using an icon like them. When she is old enough, she will earn her life stone and her real name. But that is a great problem. To earn a life stone, she has to do something honorable, courageous, and death-defying. That is why my species are so rare.

As I drift on, I wonder what will happen to me or my kind...
