The Love of my Life….

0700

The command staff was already assembled when Captain Janeway and Commander Chakotay entered the conference room, with one exception; the chair usually occupied by Lieutenant Paris was vacant.

As the Captain and her XO moved to their places, the door opened disgorging the Lieutenant.  Mr. Paris appeared to have pulled an all nighter, probably on the Delta Flyer.

Tom quickly moved to his seat.

"Good morning," began Janeway. "We have had a development. Beta Shift has detected high levels of tachyon emissions on long-range scans. The radiation type matches only one known source. That source being the Bajoran wormhole leading to the gamma quadrant. What we need to find out is if this is another constructed wormhole, whether its population are members of the same race, and if they can possibly help get us home. Mr. Kim I want you to work on modifying a class 1 probe to be sent into the wormhole. We must be able to track its course and speed also when it exits the wormhole, we'll need to know the exact galactic location.

"Understood, Captain."

"Good, get on it. Mr. Paris, you will need to work with B'Elanna on the Delta Flyer. Once the probe has sent back its telemetry the next step would be to send a shuttle through the wormhole. The shields and inertial dampers will have to be reinforced. Work on redundant communications as well as life support."

"Understood Captain," Tom replied.

"Seven, you will be monitoring all subspace bands from astrometrics in an effort to communicate with the wormhole aliens, if there are any."

The former Borg drone simply nodded her ascent.

"Anything further?"

There was no reply.

"Very good, dismissed, with the exception of Mr. Paris."

Tom's facial expression made it clear that he knew he was in for it, however, before Janeway could even begin a reprimand, the Commander moved over to Tom like a bulldog.

"Mr. Paris, I expect all command officers to report to these meetings on time; and wearing a presentable uniform! Is that clear Mister?"

"Yes, sir."

"What explanation do you have for your condition?"

"I have no excuse sir. It won't happen again."

"See that it doesn't!"

Janeway decided to put the Lieutenant out of his misery. He was obviously waiting for her to chew him out.

"Mr. Paris, I suggest that you go and change before you take your post on my bridge."

"Yes ma'am."

"You're dismissed."

Tom walked out of the room. His body language showing that he had been properly dressed down.

"Chakotay, a word please."

"Yes, Kathryn?"

"Weren't you a bit harsh on Tom. He wasn't that late, and I've seen worse looking uniforms in the mirror."

"I was no more harsh on him than you would have been, Captain."

*Hmmm. I believe the good Commander is a little too demanding of Tom. Could it still be the past they shared in the Maquis? On the other hand, could it have something to do with those times I've caught Chakotay staring at Tom and smiling? I'll need to keep an eye their interactions. *

"Perhaps Commander, perhaps not. You take the bridge; I'll be in my Ready Room. " She exited the briefing room walking briskly across the bridge.

As Janeway settled herself on the sofa with a stack of reports the door chime sounded.

"Enter."

It was Commander Tuvok. He wore the same emotionless expression as always. Yet something was different.

"Tuvok is there something I can do for you?"

"Captain, I was concerned about the spectacle that just occurred in the briefing room."

"I'd hardly call that a spectacle, Commander."

"Captain, I noticed the chrono as Mr. Paris entered the room. He was punctual as always. You and the Commander were early. As for the uniform; the condition was marginally below standard Starfleet uniform code, however, not unreasonably so."

"Tuvok, this is off the record. I agree with you about the uniform.  It wasn't that bad. I do appreciate you bringing the time to my attention. I'll see to it that the reprimand is removed from Mr. Paris' personnel file."

"Captain, I would also like to go on record with a complaint.  Commander Chakotay has repeatedly gone out of his way to chastise Mr. Paris, over the most minor of offenses. However when the real offenses have occurred he has always deferred to you for punishment."

"Isn't that as it should be? I mean now that you've brought it to my attention I agree that occasionally Chakotay might be a bit heavy handed with Lt. Paris."

"Captain, I have made extensive documentation of all the events that I have witnessed. At first I believed that perhaps the Commander was trying to settle past debts. However I believe now that there may be another motive."

"Please, Tuvok, enlighten me as to this motive."

"Captain, I would prefer to gather more evidence before I present my hypothesis to you."

"Very well, Commander. Any idea when I can expect your report?"

"I would expect soon, as these incidents seem to be happening more and more frequently."

"Alright, I look forward to your views on this. Dismissed."

As her chief of security left the room she returned to the stack of Pads that were waiting for her approval.

Janeway had finished going over the reports several hours ago and had joined her XO on the bridge. She found herself watching him out of the corner of her eye. So far there hadn't been any reaction that she could classify.

The turbolift opened and she realized that beta shift was reporting for duty.

The replacement pilot walked over to the helm. He and Tom exchanged a few words then Tom relinquished the console. As Ensign Matso was adjusting the station to his comfort he knocked a PADD on to the floor. Tom bent over to retrieve it.

Janeway noticed the effect that Tom's position had on her XO immediately. Commander Chakotay's eyes almost bugged out of his head. Tom stood and straightened his uniform, then moved to the turbolift.

Chakotay managed to compose his features. He sat back and resumed working on the calculations he'd been performing.

"Commander you have the bridge. Commander Tuvok, I would like to see you in my ready room."

Tuvok slowly raised his eyebrow. He then moved at his usual gait to join his CO in her inner sanctum.

The doors had hardly closed when Janeway spun around to face the Vulcan.

"Did you see that?"

"If you are referring to the effect of seeing Mr. Paris' posterior had on Commander Chakotay, yes I did. I believe that I can submit my hypothesis to you now Captain. I believe that the hostility that we've all seen the Commander showing to Lt. Paris, is an attempt to hide sexual attraction."

"Tuvok, I'd laugh at that if I hadn't seen that look on Chakotay's face just then."

The chime rang.

"Enter."

It was Commander Chakotay. He looked as though he knew they were discussing him.

"Captain, I'd like to have a word with you."

"Of course, Chakotay. Commander Tuvok, you're dismissed."

As Tuvok left, Janeway motioned for the Chakotay to take a seat on the sofa.

"Captain, I feel that I owe you an explanation."

"About what exactly Chakotay?"

"My reaction on the bridge just now. I noticed that you kept looking at me all during the shift. It was like you were waiting for me to make a mistake."

"I apologize for that Chakotay, it's just that lately I've noticed several times you've been staring at Mr. Paris with the same expression that a teenager looks at his or her first boyfriend with."

"Kathryn, I don't know what to say. I thought that I could be professional about this. I thought that I was keeping it to myself."

"Keeping what to yourself Chakotay?"

"I'm attracted to Tom. I don't know how or why it happened, but it has."

"I would never have thought you would be gay, Chakotay."

"That's just it! I've only been attracted to one other man before.  I just don't get it, after Phillip died I thought that part of my life was over."

"Perhaps you've grown enough that you can see past the physical and fall in love with the person; and not the body."

"But Tom Paris! Kathryn, when I first accepted the position as your XO I would not have thought twice if you're ordered me to space that man."

"Well both of you have changed over these past 6 years. How do you feel about Tom now?"

"I feel that he is the best pilot that I've ever seen. I've uncovered evidence that he didn't betray us; on the contrary he sacrificed his freedom so that the rest of us wouldn't be caught. He is a brave and loyal man. However, I can almost feel pain emanating from him. He tries to cover it up with those wise cracks but the pain still shows in his eyes sometimes."

"Tom has led a very hard life Chakotay. He has never felt like he belonged anywhere until now. Starfleet Command has responded to the reviews of his performance with nothing less than awe. They find it almost impossible to believe that we're talking about the same person. My superiors understood even the incident involving the Moean Ocean. Admiral Brand remarked that if circumstances were different she would not have demoted him but applauded him. Of course the chain of command was broken and that did demand punishment."

"Of course."

"What no one else knows is that I was reprimanded, for being too heavy handed with my punishment. Oh the demotion was accepted but 30 days in the brig was seen as heartless."

"What?"

"I'm serious Chakotay, I can show you the transcripts. That's why Harry was allowed to visit. I couldn't rescind the punishment, not and save face. So instead I relaxed it."

"I see."

"So have you told Tom how you feel?"

"Absolutely not! Kathryn, after the way I've treated him and am still treating him there's no way that he would ever consider a relationship with me."

"What makes you so sure Chakotay? Have a little faith; I believe that Tom has grown as much or more than you have. Besides, doesn't he have a right to know how you feel?"

"I'll have to think it over. I'm not sure how I would react if he rejected me."

"You'll behave as an officer. Speaking of your behavior I believe that you should speak with Paris about that dressing down you gave him this morning. Especially since Tuvok brought it to my attention that Tom was on time. We walked into the meeting early."

"You're correct of course. I was being heavy handed and just cruel."

"You were overcompensating for the feelings that you are having for Tom. Just be careful, I don't want a repeat of that again."

"I understand Kathryn."

"Good, now I have work to do."

Chakotay excused himself and quietly left the Captain to her duties. His shift was over, so he boarded the turbolift.

"Deck three." The lift began its rapid descent. When it stopped   Chakotay followed the corridor that would take him to his quarters. As he rounded the corner that led to his private quarters he was surprised to see Tom waiting outside his door.

"Commander I would like a word with you."

"Of course, come inside where it's private." Chakotay said opening his door.

Tom marched into the room and then spun on his heel to face the older man.

"Permission to speak candidly sir."

"Granted."

"Commander I would like to know just why you felt it was necessary to tear me a new asshole this morning. I was on time to that meeting.  In addition, my uniform this morning met the uniform code. I want an explanation before I file a grievance."

"Tom, please take a seat."

"I'd rather stand sir!"

"Don't force me to pull rank Tom."

The Lieutenant grudgingly seated himself on the sofa. Chakotay took a chair that faced him.

"Tom, you're absolutely correct. I was wrong this morning."

Tom's mouth dropped open. He was stunned to actually hear his XO's admission.

"I also admit that I have been most unfair to you since this voyage home began. I've rode you harder than any other bridge officer, piled more work on you and kept you at arms length."

Tom snapped his mouth shut. "So, Commander, why have treated me this way?"

"Tom you probably don't want to hear the reason. What can I do to make amends? Possibly a ship wide apology on the air with Neelix?"

"No, your credibility would suffer. I don't want to air this with the crew. As a matter of fact I didn't want to file a grievance that is why I came to you directly."

"Thank you, it's more than I deserve."

"Commander..."

"Tom, please we're off duty. My name is Chakotay, remember?"

"Chakotay, if you want to make amends you'll confide in me why you've treated me this way."

"Alright, you asked for it Tom. The reason that I've been so heavy handed and unfair is because....I...ah...I'm...uh attracted to you."

Tom broke out in peals of laughter.

"You really had me going there for a minute, Chakotay. What's the real reason?"

"That is the real reason Tom. Now you have your answer and I think you should go."

"Chakotay, I'm sorry I never guessed."

"Let's just forget it Tom. I'll be more professional towards you from here on out."

"Chakotay, can I say something?"

"Alright, just remember the penalty for hitting a superior officer."

"I'm not going to hit you. I just want you to know that I'm flattered. Hell I'm stunned. We'll need to talk this through before we go any further. "

It was Chakotay's turn to be shocked. "I wasn't sure you'd want to pursue anything more personal with me. Kathryn told me to have more faith in you."

"You told the Captain?"

"She saw my reaction this afternoon on the bridge when you...ah." Chakotay blushed.

"When I bent over?" Tom asked with a knowing smile.

"Yes. Anyway she and I talked. She helped me realize that I have been doing you the greatest disservice. Tom I'm really sorry."

"All is forgiven." Tom leaned in and dealt another shock to Chakotay. He planted a firm kiss on the XO's slightly parted lips. Tom turned and exited while Chakotay was still recovering.

*Oh spirits! I think I just charged the phaser and handed it to him. *

Tom quickly walked to the turbolift.

"Deck nine." He ordered. The lift began to plummet.

*Why in the hell did I just do that? What was I thinking? Oh god what's he going to be like tomorrow?*

Tom's combadge chirped.

"Paris here."

"Tom, have you forgotten? We're supposed to meet after our duty shifts and begin the modifications to the Flyer."

"I'm on my way, give me 10 minutes."

"I'm in shuttle bay alpha."

"Understood."

There was no way that Klingon was going to touch his ship without him there. Tom almost broke into a run as the turbolift door opened, but then composed himself and walked calmly to the shuttle bay.

When he arrived, Tom was relieved to see that B'Elanna had waited for him.

"It's about time. Let's get started. Here's the list of modifications. I'll start aft you take the fore section."

"Alright." Tom lifted the toolkit that she had ready for him and moved to the front of the flyer. The first of the modifications needed to be made to the helm controls.

Tom opened the access panel beneath the flight control board. He would need to cut out a section of the cabinet to make room for a power coupling inverter. He lifted the cutting torch and set to work.

However his mind was not on the task at hand. He kept thinking about Chakotay and the feel of those lips when he had kissed the big man.

B'Elanna was in the rear of the shuttle when she heard the explosion.  She ran forward and found that the panel Tom was under had exploded.

"Transporter room, Emergency transport of Tom Paris to Sickbay!"

There was no answer, just the familiar distortion of the transporter effect. When Tom had dematerialized she extinguished the flames.

"Torres to Captain."

"Yes B'Elanna?"

"Captain, there's been an accident. The helm control panel on the Flyer has been destroyed."

"Anyone hurt?"

"Paris was under the console with it happened. He has been transported to Sickbay."

"Understood, Janeway out."

~*~

The doctor was alerted to an emergency beam in. He moved to the biobed just as the transport began.

"Lieutenant Paris, are you coherent?"

"Chakotay, get Chakotay." Tom mumbled then blacked out.

The doctor immediately prepped the young man for surgery. His face was a terrible mass of plasma burns. The most severe injuries were to those sapphire blue eyes.

The sickbay doors parted and Janeway strode in. When she saw Tom's condition she had to turn away.

"Doctor, how is he."

"I'm preparing for emergency surgery. The burns are superficial, however, Tom will in all probability lose both eyes."

"My god!"

"Captain, Mr. Paris asked for Commander Chakotay before he passed out. When he comes out of surgery it may help him to have the Commander here."

"I understand. Doctor, can Tom be fitted with a VISOR like Commander Geordie LaForge?"

"That is an option another is the new bionic eye replacements. Mr. LaForge was the first to receive a pair. However those options must be explored after Tom has recovered from this surgery."

"I understand, I'll send Chakotay at once."

Janeway walked out of the room. Her eyes glistened with tears barely held back. She immediately went to Chakotay's quarters. This was news that she felt needed to be delivered in person, not over a comm channel.

She triggered the door chime and waited. She only had to wait a moment. The door opened admitting her. She entered the neat and comfortable room.

"Chakotay, I need to speak with you."

"Kathryn?" Chakotay stepped out of his bedroom. He froze when he saw her. The tears beginning to roll down her cheeks.

"Chakotay, there's been an accident. It's Tom."

"Kathryn where is he?"

"Sickbay, the Doctor is performing surgery. It seems a power conduit on the Flyer exploded in his face."

"How badly is he hurt?"

"The Doctor says that he'll lose both eyes."

Chakotay crumpled in on himself. He too began to cry. His body was wracked by violent sobs. Kathryn moved to him, holding him to her. It was the only comfort that she had to offer to the hurting man.  Slowly, little by little the big man was able to bring his grief under control. When he was able, he began to pull away from Janeway the friend, not the Captain.

"Chakotay, the Doctor said that Tom asked for you before he passed out. Did you have a chance to speak with him?"

"Yes," The dark eyes sparkled with tears barely restrained.

"What happened?"

"I apologized to him for the way that I'd treated him. I even offered to make a ship wide apology. He refused. He was afraid that the crew wouldn't understand that I'd lose credibility. Finally he said that if I wanted to make amends that I should tell him why I treated him that way."

"So did you? How did Tom respond?"

"At first he was shocked. However, before he left my quarters he said 'All is forgiven' and kissed me."

"Well it sounds like you two will have some things to work out. You need to get to Sickbay. The Doctor said that Tom could be fitted with a VISOR or bionic implants."

"Kathryn, will he fly again? You know it's his life."

"We'll have to see how he responds to the implants. Don't even discuss that now; just be there for him. He's going to need your support. He will be terrified, I know I would be."

"Kathryn, thank you. I'd better go."

"I'll let you get dressed. Chakotay, naturally Tom is on medical leave, and you take as much time as you and he both need. You'll probably have to be his friend and councilor.

Chakotay simply nodded and then moved back into his bedroom. He wanted to crawl into bed. This was too much for him to handle now.

*Damn it man, Tom needs you, get your ass down there now. *

Having admonished himself for weakness he moved rapidly through the ritual of dressing in the uniform. When he'd finished he left for Sickbay. It seemed like the distance had become a thousand times as great. As he entered the ward the doctor greeted him.

"Commander, I'm glad you're here. Tom is recovering from surgery. With Seven's nanoprobes we have high hopes that his sight can be saved. However, it is essential that the eyes remain covered for the next 48 hours. He must be kept calm and quite. I'll keep him here for the first 24 hours. After that he can return to his quarters, if someone is there to care for him."

"I'll personally see to his care Doctor. Can I see him now?"

"Of course, he's still hazy from the anesthetic. He possibly won't even know you're here."

Chakotay moved by Tom's bed. He took the pale finely boned hand in his big brown paw.

"Tom, I'm here. It's going to be alright."

"Chakkkkk."

"Hush now, sleep. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere."

Tom's body relaxed. Chakotay almost called out to the doctor, and then he realized that Tom had merely slipped into a deep healing sleep.

Chakotay sat by the biobed holding on to Tom's hand, as if mere tactile contact could aid in the younger man's recovery.

What would Tom be like after this? Would he turn away from Chakotay? Oh how he needed to speak with his spirit guide. That would require that he leave Tom to perform the ritual. There was no way in all the nine hells that he would allow Tom to wake up alone.

Chakotay sat there holding the hand, stroking the long fingers softly. Finally, his energy reserves exhausted, he slipped into a fitful sleep.

He began to dream. The Native of Dorvan V found himself standing in a familiar grove. Next to him stood an old man. Upon the man's brow was a tattoo. It was identical to Chakotay's own.

"Father?"

"Chakotay, my son. You needed me?"

"Father, I'm frightened."

"What is wrong my little brave?" Kolopak moved over to his son. He enfolded the man in his strong arms.

"Papa, I'm in love but there was an accident. Tom was hurt and I don't know what's going to happen now."

"Ah, the blonde pilot. A doctor has treated him? His body is alright?"

"Tom is recovering for surgery. His eyes might be saved, with the help of a Borg drone we rescued from the collective."

"Chakotay, you know that there is no guarantee in this life. Be there for Thomas, if it is meant to be it will be. If not then you will find the strength to continue. Love always leaves one's heart vulnerable to pain and rejection. However, my child, it is well worth the risk."

Chakotay nodded, he understood.

"Commander, Commander Chakotay." He felt pressure on his arm.  "Commander, you really should go and get some rest."

"I'm not leaving Doctor."

"Can I ask you one question Commander?"

"I suppose."

"Why are you here? I didn't think that you and Mr. Paris were even friendly. Now he's been hurt and you're sitting here with him as though he's your spouse."

"Doctor, I do not feel at liberty to discuss this topic with you at this time. Perhaps when Tom has recovered I'll be able to shed some light on the subject for you."

"Very well Commander, I'll trust his care to you. I don't think I could make a better choice. Besides, this will help prove whether or not you are compatible."

"What will prove if Tom and I are compatible?"

"Boring each other for an extended period of time. Now try to get some rest, or do I have to sedate you?"

"That won't be necessary Doctor."

The doctor left Chakotay and Tom returning to his office.

"Chakotay, I'm scared." Tom's voice was weak and breathy; he was still groggy from the heavy sedation.

"Tom, you're awake. It's alright, you are going to be fine."

"Tay, what if I'm blind? What if I can't fly again, I think I'd die."

"Stop that Tom! You are going to see again, believe that with all your heart and soul."

"The power of positive thinking?"

"It's never been disproved. Now you get back to sleep."

"You should leave Tay. You've got bridge duty."

"Here I am and here I'll stay. Kathryn is covering for me. That is unless you don't want me here."

"I'd rather you stay if you can. I.I.I don't want to be alone."

"Then it's settled, I'm staying and you're going back to sleep. Tomorrow you and I will get out of here and you'll be back in your own bed."

"Ok." Tom clasped the hand tightly and drifted off to sleep.

Chakotay looked at the heavily bandaged face. He thought to himself, "I love you Tom Paris. I hope you can love me back."

Voyager's second officer then laid his head back and drifted off in a deep dreamless sleep.

~*~

"Janeway to Torres."

"Yes captain?"

"How are the modifications progressing with the Flyer?"

"Slower with Tom down. However, she'll be ready when she's needed."

"Keep on it. Janeway out."

The tired Captain scrubbed her face with her hands. By all the holies she was tired, but she couldn't rest now. She needed to work, to occupy her mind. She was worried about Tom. Tom was like the son she'd never have. She had gotten him released from prison for the trip into the Badlands. She was responsible for him being marooned out here with everyone else. Hell the entire crew had become her children. Moreover, right now one of her kids was lying in sickbay, injured. Another of her kids was with the first, and she could almost feel his heart breaking every time he looked at Tom.

"Damn it Katie, pull it together. You've got to or you'll lose it and then you'll never get this crew home." She picked up her coffee mug, and drained it before she returned it to the table. One day she'd have to give this stuff up. Someday. However, right now she needed the boost.

"Computer coffee, black."

~*~

Tom was reclining on his bunk. He had just arrived at Auckland as was beginning his sentence. Several of the inmates had stared at him as the guards had marched him to this tiny cell. It would be his home for many years.

"Lights out!"

Tom lay back resting his head on the flat pillow. This was going to be a long night. He was scared for the first time that he could remember. At least since he'd escaped from his father's less than tender treatment. He closed his eyes and managed to fall into a troubled sleep.

Tom's eyes shot open; he heard his cell door opening.

"Well well well, if it's not the pretty boy pilot." A dark figure spoke from the doorway. "The traitor!"

Tom recognized the voice; he'd seen the speaker once, briefly, during his work with the Maquis.

"Thomas Riker, when did they catch you?"

"My group tried to take the USS Defiant from Deep Space Nine. Major Kira was a force to be reckoned with."

"Why did you call me a traitor? I've never betrayed the Resistance."

"It doesn't matter, in here we're all labeled traitors."

Thomas Riker moved over to the bunk. As he moved into the light Tom saw his face. He was leering at the young man.

"Have you ever in prison before Tommy?"

Tom could only shake his head indicating the negative.

"Let me tell you how it works. You're fresh meat; I'm the big man here. You're going to be my bitch."

"Now, Thomas, wait a minute."

"No! You wait a minute; there are a lot of big ugly guys in here, if you want to keep that face pretty you'll make yourself available to me, when I want you and where I want you. Otherwise something might just happen to you. Do you understand me?"

Tom nodded his head.

"Good now, you're going to suck me off." Thomas Riker unzipped the fly of his prison jumpsuit and freed his manhood.

"Put this in your mouth and suck, When I cum you'll swallow it all. Understood?"

Again Tom nodded. He listened to the older man's low moans as he did as he was instructed. Finally when it was over and Riker had left him alone. Tom threw up in to the toilet in the corner of his cell then collapsed on his bunk. Tears of fear and anger rolling down his face.

"NO!" Tom sat up. He couldn't see.

"Tom! It's ok you just had a nightmare. You're in sickbay."

Sweat was rolling off the blonde man's forehead. He hadn't dreamed about Riker in a long time. He willed his body to take slow deep breaths.

"Tom are you alright?"

"I'll be fine."

"If you'd like to talk about it, I'm a good listener."

"Nothing to talk about, Tay, it was just a bad dream." Tom lay back down and drifted slowly off to sleep.

"Rise and shine!" The doctor called jovially as he activated the lights.

"What time is it?" Chakotay asked groggily.

"Time for Mr. Paris' examination. If he is progressing well I'll release him."

"Alright doc, let's get this over with."

The EMH opened his medical tricorder and began the scanning procedure. The look on his face showed his obvious delight.

"Well, Mr. Paris, you're eyes are healing nicely. The rest of the plasma burns are completely regenerated. As long as you refrain from any strenuous activity you can return to your own quarters. The Commander as offered help with your care."

"OK, I'm ready to leave."

"Doctor, when will you need to see Tom again?"

"This time tomorrow, we'll remove the bandages from his eyes."

"Alright Tom let's go," Chakotay helped Tom to rise from the bed.

"Well at least I've got an excuse to hold your hand in public."

"Tom, the doctor's still here." Chakotay whispered.

"I'm sure he's figured out things, that is unless there's a glitch in his logic processors."

"I assure you both that your doctor is in the best of health. I have put two and two together and it equals four."

"Any advice doctor?"

"Just refrain from any romantic interludes that have Klingon undertones and you should be fine."

"Doctor! I'm shocked, I think you just gave me permission to…"

"Mr. Paris, since when have you ever needed permission for anything."

"Touché.

"Come on lover boy lets get you to your quarters, you've got a date."

"I do?"

"Yes, with your bed."

Tom smiled broadly and blushed.

"Tom you're capable of blushing? I think I'm going to like this."

"What's the big idea? Are you saying that I'm a slut or something?"

"I was kidding Tom. I've just never seen you blush before, you're beautiful when you do."

Tom blushed again.

"Tay will you stop that."

"Chakotay, Tom will you please take this somewhere else? I have work to do!"

Chakotay smiled at the doctor and led Tom out into the corridor.  They entered the lift at the end of the hall.

"Deck three." The lift rose quickly taking them to the specified section of the ship. They walked slowly down the long corridor until they were at Tom's door.

"Alright Tom, we're here, what's your door code?"

"It's Alpha 2-9-9-6."

Chakotay keyed in the code and the door opened. He led Tom inside and helped him get settled on the sofa.

"It's almost lunchtime. Are you hungry Tom?"

"Starving, those nutrient injections that the doctor gave me didn't do anything for me."

"What do you feel like eating?"

"You have to ask? I'll have a bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich."

"That sounds good, I think I'll have the same."

Chakotay walked to the food replicator and began issuing commands.

"Computer, two servings of tomato soup, plain, hot. Two grilled cheese sandwiches. " Chakotay turned and faced the living room, "Anything to drink Tom?"

"Sure I'll have an herbal tea."

"What blend would you prefer?"

"Something soothing, Chamomile will be fine."

Chakotay removed the plates from the replicator platform then requested two mugs of hot Chamomile tea. The computer supplied the order with it's usual precision. Chakotay placed the food on a tray that was lying on the counter and carried it back into the sitting room.

"Tell me how you usually prepare your soup, do you add crackers?"

"No I don't like crackers. Just straight soup. I don't think I can handle a spoon, maybe a mug."

"I've already got that covered." Chakotay said as he lifted a spoonful of the steaming soup. He gently blew on it to cool it then offered it to Tom.

Tom accepted the soup, and swallowed.

"Thank you, that tastes so good."

"I expect you to eat every bite, you need the nourishment."

"Yes, sir."

Chakotay continued to feed the soup to Tom, alternating with bites of the sandwich. When the bowl was empty he wiped Tom's mouth with the napkin.

"I'm sorry I'm so much trouble."

"You're not trouble Tom, I want to be here. I like taking care of you."

"Your soup is probably cold now."

"It's fine. I'll eat in a few minutes. Perhaps you would like a bath and then get into bed."

"I don't think I should use the sonic shower."

"I said a bath, that is unless you're afraid that I'll take advantage of you."

"Chakotay, I believe that I can trust you."

"Good, I'll be right back to get you."

Chakotay entered the bedroom and looked through Tom's clothes. He found a lounging outfit; he placed it in the bathroom along with a fresh towel and wash cloth.

"Computer, activate tub. Bill the account of Commander Chakotay, authorization Delta Pi 2485."

A tub materialized in the bathroom, Chakotay brought the taps down from the wall and began to fill the tub with hot water. He added some scented oil that he found in the cabinet.

"Are you ready for me yet?"

Chakotay looked up to see Tom making his way to the bathroom.

"Tom, why didn't  you wait for me?"

"Tay, I'm not made out of glass. I won't break walking through my quarters."

Chakotay helped him disrobe then Tom stepped into the tub and settled back.

"Is the water too hot?"

"No, it's perfect," Tom, replied with a big smile.

Chakotay picked up the washcloth and began to cleanse the younger man. He gently scrubbed the firm, pale skin.

"So Tay, what are the sleeping arrangements?"

"You'll sleep in your bed and I'll take the sofa."

"If you'd prefer you could."

"Tom, it's too soon for that and we still have some talking to do."

"So let's talk."

"Alright, what do you expect from me?"

"I really don't know what to expect. I just want to get to know you, I feel an attraction, and you've told me you feel it too."

"Tom, I can't show you any special…"

"Tay, I don't want any favors. I'm not a whore. I don't expect payment for whatever happens in our private life. Now what do you want out of this relationship?"

"Tom, I want to love you. I don't mean physically, I mean want to show you what love is between two people who are such kindred spirits. Sex is great but when the love is there it's like merging souls as well as bodies with the person you are with."

"That's scary Tay. No one has ever wanted to get to know me. It's always been just a slow casual fuck."

"One question, how is Harry going to react to our new relationship?"

"Harry? He and I are just friends, I suppose he'll be shocked but he'll come around. I know that I'd be happy for him if he found his soul mate."

"Are we soul mates Tom? Is that what you feel?"

"Chakotay," Tom reached and took the man's hand. "I have felt that way from the first time that I met you. I just never thought that you'd want to chance a relationship with someone like me."

"Someone like you? What does that mean?"

"Chakotay, the bad dream I had last night was about an experience that I had to live through. It happened in the prison in Auckland. Thomas Riker decided that he wanted me. So he claimed me, I became his bitch. He told me that if I didn't there were others that would take me and I'd be hurt or killed."

Chakotay reached out and gently cupped Tom's chin.

"Tom, I'm so sorry that you went through that. I promise that I will never hurt you. I love you and would rather die than cause you pain."

"Tay, you don't really know me. How can you say that you love me?"

"I know that you sacrificed your freedom to keep the USS Lexington from stumbling on our disabled ship. I also know that you sent the encrypted message to the outpost. They dispatched a rescue vessel.   If you hadn't done what you did my entire crew would have been in that penal colony."

"I never wanted you to know about that." Tom whispered.

"Why love?"

"Because I didn't want you to find out who really betrayed you and sabotaged your ship."

"Seska?"

"Yes. I knew that it would hurt you. I never wanted to see that kind of hurt in your eyes."

"Tom?"

"Yes, Chakotay?"

"I love you baby. Nothing else matters, I don't care what is in your past. If you need to tell me then you can, nothing in this universe can change how I feel about you."

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely positive, you're a good man. The best pilot in the Delta Quadrant and if I have anything to say about it, you're all mine."

"Come here." Tom pulled Chakotay closer and sought out his mouth.  The sensitive lips parted inviting him within the sample the textures and tastes within. Tom and Chakotay were so into the kiss that neither realized that Chakotay had begun to slide forward. That is until the older man ended up in the tub wearing his uniform.

"Chakotay, you're all wet!"

"Really? I didn't notice, well I could use a bath too. That is if you don't mind."

"Make yourself at home. Oh and I don't think you'll be sleeping on that sofa tonight."

"Tom are you sure? I don't want you to feel like you have to do anything that you're not ready for. I will wait for you. Spirits, I've already waited all these years. I hope that means something."

"It does mean something. It means that your wait is almost over. I just want you near me tonight; I need to feel that there's someone else here. Will you sleep with me and hold me tonight?"

"Tonight and forever, if you want me to." Tom smiled embracing the older man. He held the muscular body

tightly to him. Chakotay wrapped his strong arms around the smaller man.

"I feel so safe in your arms, Chakotay."

"You are safe, Tom. I will never let anything or anyone hurt you again, I promise you that."

"Never is a long time Tay."

"Forever is as far as I'll go. I cross my heart and promise to always take care of you." Chakotay gently kissed Tom, sealing his promise.

"Tay, I think you should get out of that wet uniform."

"I guess I should at that. Are you going to behave?"

"You would like it better if I didn't." Tom answered with a coy smile.

Chakotay stood up and began to open the fastenings on the clothing. When he had finally managed to struggle out of the wet clinging fabric he tossed it into the `fresher.

"Now doesn't that feel better?"

"Yes, Tom it does." Chakotay answered as he settled back into the tub.

Tom's hands began to roam over the dark hairless skin. His gentle touch started with the strong face, slowly exploring down the chest. He shifted forward to reach the broad firm back.

Chakotay allowed Tom's hands and fingertips to probe his body. The sensations were a delicious mixture of tingles and caresses. His body began to react to the loving touches.

"Tom." Chakotay's voice came out a husky whisper.

"Hmmm?"

"I think you should stop."

"Why?"

"If you don't, I may not be able to control myself."

"You don't have to…"

"Yes, I do. Tom I don't think you're ready for a physical

relationship. Baby you were raped in Auckland. Do you really now what making love is like?"

"It hurts, but I want to."

"No Tom, it doesn't hurt. At least not once you get into it. That's the difference between rape and being with someone who loves you."

"Will you show me the difference? Will you love me, Chakotay?"

"When it's right, but I want you to be comfortable with the thought of being with me."

Tom was taken aback; no one had ever cared how he felt. Riker certainly hadn't. Even the women he'd been with had often times pressured him to perform before he was comfortable with them. He had gone ahead and shown them a good time, but afterwards he found that

he could barely stand to be around them.

Chakotay was different he was putting Tom first. Tom knew that he had turned the big man on. He could tell by the tension that formed under his questing fingers. Yet even though Chakotay was probably hot enough to pound him through the bed, he had said that they should wait.

It was obvious that this wonderful person truly cared for him. This scared Tom; he never had felt like anyone truly loved him. How could he ever be worthy of this love? If Chakotay really knew him would he turn away?

"Voyager to Paris."

"Huh?"

"Tom, you were daydreaming."

"Oh, sorry."

"Don't be sorry," Chakotay said softly as he caressed the skin of the younger man's cheek. Tom pulled the hand to his lips and dropped a tender kiss into the palm.

"What were you thinking just now?"

"I don't want to burden you with my demons Tay."

"Tom, I'll help you fight them. Together we can beat anything."

"Do you really believe that?"

"No, I don't believe it. I know it. Tom you have a strong spirit.  You've been hurt many times, still you've not only survived, but you have grown stronger."

"I don't feel strong Tay. I'm scared. If you really knew me you'd probably walk out and never speak to me again."

Chakotay felt like crying. This beautiful soul had been diminished in the only way possible for one so brilliant and promising. Tom's self-confidence had been nearly destroyed.

"Tom, remember my job. I am responsible for crew evaluations. I'm privy to all personnel records, service records, and disciplinary files. I know why you were drummed out of Star Fleet. The accident was not your fault. You were not responsible for the death of your

fellow cadets."

Chakotay paused for a moment to let the statement sink in.

"You lied to cover up what happened because you were scared. That doesn't justify the lie, but Tom you came forward and confessed. Once you had been cashiered you couldn't find work as a pilot. You became as escort. Women paid you to spend time with them, to sleep with them. Finally, you joined the Maquis, where we met. You sacrificed yourself to make sure that the squadron kept their freedom. You were sentenced and sent to Auckland. While you were there Tom Riker raped you."

"That's not the whole story."

"I don't care! I love you Tom Paris. Your past be damned. You've made mistakes, so have I. It's called being human."

"So, I'm very human."

"Tom we all are. Your mistakes are no worse than mine are. You've learned from them and grown into a fine man, a loyal officer, and a trusted friend."

"Tay, how can I be worthy of your love? I've never been loved before, I don't know what to do." Tom was almost in tears. A sob slipped out in between breaths.

"Tom, you don't earn love, you can't ever be worthy you just accept it. Love is the most precious gift known to any species. What did I do to earn your love?"

"You loved me."

"You see I didn't earn anything, Tom. I've been blessed. Not only did I fall in love with a good man, and that man loves me back."

Tom was crying. The hot tears flowed from beneath the bandages.

Chakotay gently embraced his soul mate. Tom burrowed his face into the warmth of the muscular chest. He felt Chakotay's head against his heard the loving words spoken in that silken voice.

Tom allowed the years of pain and grief to flow from him. It flowed as water down a mountain. The years of hurt rushing out of him. He had experienced this once before. He had almost taken his own life, this time someone was there to hold him. Someone was there loving him, not in spite of his mistakes, but for the person those errors in judgment had helped him to become.

Chakotay held Tom, supporting him through the emotional cleansing.  He willed the love in his heart to flow from every pore in his skin, to flow into Tom. He wanted the love to aid Tom in this first crucial step of his emotional healing.

Slowly, painfully Tom was able to pull himself together. The trembling stopped and he was able to quench the sobs. He held on to Chakotay like a man holding to a raft in a stormy sea. He was able to draw strength from Chakotay's immeasurable supply.

Finally Tom spoke, breaking the silence.  "Chakotay?"

"Yes baby?"

"I love you, with every fiber of my being, every particle of my soul."

Chakotay tightened his hold on the exhausted man. He held Tom as closely as humanly possible.

"I love you more, baby. You complete me, without you I do not feel alive. I am merely surviving."

"I'm so tired. I feel like I could sleep for a week." Tom said yawning Chakotay helped Tom to stand. Together they rinsed off the soap and oils under the spray of the shower. When both of them were clean, Chakotay dried Tom with big plush towels. He helped the injured man

to dress in the clothing that he had lain out.

"Good choice." Tom remarked. "This is my favorite outfit."

"Too bad you can't wear it on the bridge."

"I don't think the captain would approve."

"Probably not, then again you look good enough to eat. She might not mind."

"Tay!"

Chakotay smiled broadly, he began to towel himself off. However it was difficult to take his eyes off Tom. The rich blue silk robe framed the blonde man's lean muscular body. The shorts while loose, clung provocatively to just the right areas, the legs were slit up each leg almost to the waist. Each movement allowed Chakotay a wonderful glimpse of the most beautiful thighs he'd ever seen.

"Are you staring at me?"

"I'm enthralled by the sight of you."

Tom giggled like a schoolgirl who had just gotten her first kiss.

"I'll be glad when I can see you. This is really unfair. You've seen me buck-naked, bathed me, and dressed me even fed me. I feel like an invalid.

"Tom, I'm here because I want to be, and you're no invalid. Tomorrow you'll get the bandages off and we'll be together."

"I can't wait."

Chakotay led Tom to the bed and helped him get settled. Tom untied the robe and slipped it off.

"I'll take that." Chakotay said as he took the garment and placed it on the foot of the bed.

"Tay, replicate one of these in your size, in red I think. I've stored the pattern under Paris Lounger Alpha."

"No need, Tom, I can sleep in my boxers."

"Please Tay, do it for me. I love to feel silk when I'm drifting off to sleep."

"Tom, I really should sack out on the sofa."

"Chakotay, please stay with me. I'm…" Tom stopped unable to finish the sentence.

"Tom are you worried about the nightmares?"

The blonde man could only nod; the night terrors had effected him deeply.

"Alright, I'll be right back."

Chakotay walked out into the main room and addressed the replicator.

"Computer, Paris Lounger Alpha."

"State size of biceps, shoulders, chest and waist."

Chakotay rattled off his necessary measurements.

"Please state desired color of garment."

"Crimson red."

The machine began to hum then a glittering light show began on the small platform. When it had stopped there was a small, neatly folded bundle. Chakotay lifted the parcel and shook out the fabric. He removed his boxers and put on the clothing. The silk flowed in the air currents as he retraced his steps and returned to Tom's bedroom. Tom was sitting up in bed. The young man was obviously waiting for his return.

"Tom you really should lie back."

"Come here." It almost sounded like a plea.

Chakotay moved to stand in front of Tom. When Tom realized he was near he lifted his arms. Chakotay embraced him feeling the warmth of the man.

"Thank you." Tom whispered and kissed his cheek tenderly.

"For what Tom?"

"For loving me."

Chakotay gently stroked Tom's hair then kissed him gently. Tom's lips parted, he offered himself freely to Chakotay. The older man kissed Tom deeply, allowing the depths of his passion to be known. Tom's urgency rose to match his own. Only by Herculean effort was

Chakotay able to regain his control.

"Too soon baby." He whispered.

"Please Tay, show me you want me." Tom pleaded, "I need you."

"Tom, we shouldn't…"

"Please Tay."

Chakotay couldn't deny Tom, not when he wanted this just as much as the younger man.

"Alright, Tom but just a small sample. I don't want you to ever feel

that I took advantage of you."

"I never could."

Chakotay stripped off his robe and climbed into bed. He gently

pulled Tom to him.

"If you decide you're not ready, you tell me and we'll stop,

understand?"

"Ok."

The Indian claimed Tom's mouth, starting with a light pressure. The

kiss built in intensity until it was crushingly wanton. His hands

roamed over Tom's nubile young body, teasingly.

Tom abandoned himself to the sensations that his wonderful lover

coaxed from his body. Chakotay's hands danced over his body,

thrilling him. His lover moved from his lips to the pulse in his

throat.

Tom moaned deeply, His hand coming to rest a top Chakotay's head

holding the man closely to him. His body felt as though he'd just

jumped to warp nine. Gods he'd never felt his way before.

"Tay, oh gods please! Don't stop!" He moaned

Chakotay smiled and continued his labor of love, he moved further

down. He expertly handled the shell colored nipples, bringing both

to a throbbing awareness. Tom was writhing with need under him. The

firm body glistened with a fine sheen of perspiration.

"Tay, oh Gods!" Tom exclaimed as the gentle Indian lowered the silk

shorts using only his teeth. As they were pulled away Tom's erection

sprang upwards, hard and ready. It came to rest just below his belly

button.

Tom gasped as Chakotay pulled first one of his balls then its mate

into his hot humid mouth. Teasingly he rolled him with his tongue.

"Tay! Oh please it's too good!" Tom managed to speak through his

clenched teeth. "Tay please! Take me!"

Chakotay released Tom's testicles.

"Not tonight, lover." He gently whispered.

The skilled man then took the throbbing organ deeply into his mouth.

He worked his throat muscles around the welcome guest. Chakotay used

every means at his disposal to bring Tom quickly to a thundering

orgasm.

Tom's head was back, his hips lifting out of reflex, driving him

deeper into Chakotay's hot willing mouth.

"Tay, I'm gonna cum! You need to pull off!" Tom managed to say in

warning.

Chakotay however, had other plans. He firmly grasped Tom's hips,

pulling him as deeply as possible within his slick throat. He

renewed the tender loving assault.

He was rewarded for his labor when Tom's body tensed. The force of

the orgasm surprised him. He swallowed his lover's essence; he

gently milked Tom getting every drop of the pungent liquid. He then

allowed the now exhausted cock to fall from his lips.

Tom wasn't smiling. He looked like he was going to cry.

"Tom, baby what's wrong?"

"I'm sorry, I couldn't hold back any more. I didn't mean to…"

"Tom, I wanted you to cum in my mouth. This is part of you, I wanted

it."

"I always got sick when Riker would."

"Tom, we made love. I wanted to take your essence into me. There's

a difference. You're afraid that you humiliated me. You didn't, you

loved me."

"You wanted me to do that?"

"Yes, Tom I love you and wanted it."

"Does that mean that I'll have to…"

"You never have to do anything that you don't want to do. I mean

that, if you're not comfortable with something all you have to do is

say so and we won't do it. I will not pressure you into anything."

Tom pulled Chakotay to him and kissed him deeply. He tasted his own

sperm in his lover's mouth. It didn't make his stomach turn. He

found that he enjoyed the flavor. He wanted more. Tom began to pull

away his had reaching for Chakotay's silk shorts.

"Tom, no you're not ready!"

"Yes I am, I really am, please. I want to make you to feel good

Chakotay."

"Only if you're sure."

Tom didn't answer he simply lifted Chakotay's manhood to his lips.

He wasn't able to take it all the way in. He slicked the shaft with

his saliva and began to bob his head.

"Oh, baby that's so good! Tom I love you! Oh! AHH! I'm going to…"

It was too late; Tom took the liquid in, relishing the spicy flavor

of it. He knew that this was right. He knew that Chakotay was

right, that making love was vastly different that what he'd

experienced in prison. Chakotay would never hurt him. His pleasure

would be secondary to his lover's and he already knew that Chakotay

placed him above his own needs. Tom released Chakotay's member.

Chakotay guided him back to face the big man. Their lips locked in a

passionate kiss.

"Tay, that was incredible."

"Love, you've not seen anything yet."

"There's more?"

"Not now, you need your rest."

Tom wrapped his arm over the broad chest, as Chakotay moved to

support the blonde head with his arm. They both drifted off in the

most peaceful sleep they had experienced in many months.

1000 the next morning…

Chakotay had been awake for a couple of hours. He needed time to

think about where he and Tom had taken their newly discovered rapport.

Tom had opened up to him on several levels. The young pilot had

confided in his new lover about the assault he had suffered in

prison. Yet Chakotay was certain that there was more pain in Tom's

past than he knew. He wished not for the first time since they had

been stranded in the Delta Quadrant the he had the telepathic

abilities of a Betazoid. However, he was certain that he and Tom had

made significant progress in overcoming the emotional weight that

seemed to be pulling the young man beneath the water of the great sea

known as life.

Tom is a special man; his spirit loves to fly. Chakotay longed to

help this soul mend its winds and to watch as Tom's pure sweet soul

soared upon the thermals of life. Tom would be the eagle, strong and

majestic. Chakotay would be his nest, offering shelter and comfort

when his gentle lover needed unconditional love and support. He

would be Tom's safe harbor in a world of storms. Always giving what

was needed, his needs were of little importance. As long as he had

Tom he would be happy.

The chirp of his combadge interrupted Chakotay's musings.

"Doctor to Commander Chakotay."

"Yes, Doctor?"

"It's time for Mr. Paris' appointment."

"I'm sorry Doctor, I was letting him rest, and I lost track of the

time."

"Quite alright, Commander. I'm sure that he could use the rest.

Kindly rouse my patient and both of you report to Sickbay."

"Understood, Chakotay out." The channel was closed as he tapped the

small communications device.

Chakotay replicated a mug of coffee, and then went to wake his

lover. When he entered the bedroom he noticed Tom's face. The lines

of tension had smoothed from the handsome face leaving Tom looking

like a young boy beneath the bandages.

The older man eased himself down on the bed. He gently stroked the

blonde hair.

Tom yawned, then stretched. His arm making contact with the body

beside him. He froze in place; a flush of red colored his cheeks.

"Tay? That you?"

"Yes, it's time for us to go back to sickbay."

"Tay, have you, are we?"

"Tom, you know you don't have to be afraid to talk to me." Chakotay

said and tenderly stroked the younger man's cheek.

"So, are we going steady?"

"You tell me? Are you up to being my main squeeze?"

"I had better be your Only Squeeze!" Tom emphasized the last two

words, and then he laughed to take any sting from his words.

"You're my one and only." Chakotay answered as he nuzzled the neck

of his lover. "I love you Tom."

"Love you too."

"Come on lets get those bandages off."

Chakotay helped Tom dress in his uniform; finally he brushed the

blonde hair into a presentable mop.

"I could get accustomed to this/"

"Watch it fly boy. Here drink your coffee."

"But, Baby!"

"I'll be right back Tom. I need to get into uniform."

"Hurry I want to get this over with then to come back here. I want

to see everything I've been missing."

Chakotay quickly put on his clothing. He checked his hair in the

mirror; there was a mark on his neck.

"Tom!"

"Yes, Love?"

"A hickey!"

"Tay, I'm sorry." Tom's look was anything but apologetic.

"When? You didn't touch my neck, much less suck on it."

"While you were sleeping."

"Come on, we're late!"

Chakotay led Tom out into the corridor where they took the turbolift

to Sickbay.

"It's certainly about time!" The Doctor said scolding them.

"Sorry Doc," Tom apologized.

"Mr. Paris it's not you fault," then he noticed the love bite. "Well

maybe it is unless the Commander has learned a way to give himself a

subcutaneous rupture."

"A what?"

"A hickey Mr. Paris!"

"Opps!"

"Doctor, could I use a…"

"A dermal regenerator will not repair the damage. I suggest you

allow it to heal naturally." The EMH replied with a gleam in his

eyes.

"Allow what to heal naturally?"

"Captain, I didn't hear you come in."

"Chakotay, I was in the good doctor's office. Oh my goodness! Tom

were you hungry? I'm surprised that there's any blood left in

Chakotay's entire body!"

"Oh boy, I think I'm gonna really get it."

"I'm only kidding Tom." Janeway was grinning at her first officer

broadly.

"Mr. Paris let's get those bandages off." The doctor motioned at a

nearby chair. Chakotay led Tom to it and helped settle the man.

The EMH unfastened the binding material and removed it leaving two

pads covering the eyes.

"Close your eyes Mr. Paris, I'll dim the lights then remove the pads."

"They're closed."

"Computer, illumination to 10 percent."

There was a low chime in the background. Tom felt the gauze being

lifted from his face.

"Alright, open you eyes Tom."

Tom slowly opened his eyelids. Even with the lights dimmed, his eyes

hurt briefly.

"Take a few minutes to get acclimated to the light. Once you're

ready I'll begin the examination."

The doctor turned to the other two people in the room.

"Commander, Captain could I speak with you in my office?"

"Certainly." Janeway answered.

The EMH led them into his office and closed the transparent door.

"I feel that I need to prepare you both. Tom's vision will take a

couple of days to return to normal. I would like to suggest that he

be given some time off, perhaps a couple of days in the holodeck."

" Shouldn't he be on bed rest?"

"No Commander, he needs to keep his mind occupied. Any undue stress

must be avoided."

"Well I can't grant him days of holodeck time Doctor."

"Captain, I have enough rations to cover it. If this is what he

needs, I'll see to it that he gets it."

"Alright, Chakotay, consider tom and yourself on temporary leave, and

Commander."

"Yes captain?"

"Enjoy yourself that's an order!"

"Yes Ma'am!" Chakotay said flashing those dimples.

"I believe Mr. Paris is ready, the lights are on full." The doctor

interjected.

They left the office and returned to stand by their friend. The

doctor took his medical tricorder and began an in depth scan of Tom's

eyes.

"Well doc?"

"You eyes are healing nicely. How is your vision?"

"It is blurry, I can see dark shapes moving, but that's all. I can't

see any detail."

"You will notice improvement throughout the next 48 hours. I have no

reason to doubt that you will recover completely."

Tom didn't look convinced. Still the doctor never lied to his

patients, at least never in front of Tom.

"Tom, you and Chakotay both have the next two days off. I believe

the Commander has some plans."

"Really? What are we going to do, Love? I mean Commander?"

Chakotay blushed slightly at Tom's faux pas. They would have to be

more careful in the future.

"Tom, we're going to spend the next two days in my cabin. It's

located in a virgin forest on Dorvan V."

"Sounds great, but Chakotay, I've only got a couple of hours worth of

holodeck rations."

"Tom, did I say it was going on your account? Don't worry about it."

"Well since we're going all out, why don't we make it our honeymoon?"

Chakotay's jaw dropped. He couldn't have understood Tom correctly.

"Tom, what did you just say?" The stunned first officer asked.

"I said let's make it our honeymoon. Will you marry me, Chakotay?"

"Tom, it's too soon. You can't have thought this through."

"I have thought it through. With my history of jumping from

relationship to relationship, a casual thing would never work between

Chakotay and me. The crew wouldn' t accept it, they would think I

was trying to score points or something. One day I would wake up and

my past would slap me in the face and I would either run like hell or

go catatonic. We can't keep this on a casual level because of the

situation that we're in. If we are married, then we'll set a more

stable example for the crew. They need stability now. We' re so far

from Earth; people have been seeking comfort in the arms of anyone

who will offer it. We need to set an example."

"Tom, listen to your captain, I don't want you doing anything for the

wrong reason. Even if you and Chakotay were to get married, the crew

might not accept it. There would be a period of adjustment. I don't

want you to feel that you'll be sparing Chakotay any grief by doing

this now. An example needs to be set but that doesn't mean that you

and Chakotay have to be the ones to do it."

"Oh, so you're going to marry Tuvok?"

"Tom!" Chakotay warned his lover.

"I'm sorry, Captain I was out of line." Tom reached for Chakotay's

hand. He pulled the man closer to him. "Chakotay look in my eyes

and listen to me. I already know! I love you and I want you in my

life forever. We are in danger every day here. I don't want

something to happen to one of us and the other to always wonder `what

if' . I want us to spend our lives together, as one."

Chakotay listened to Tom. The young man made sense, what would

happen tomorrow? No one could know. Today was theirs; it was their

life right now. Chakotay would not allow his soul's mate slip

away.

"Own the day." Chakotay said quietly to himself.

"What?" Tom was confused.

"Yes, I'll marry you Thomas Eugene Paris. I want to make you the

happiest man in the Delta Quadrant."

"You just did."

Janeway was shaking her head and smiling. There wouldn't be a dull

moment ever again in her first officer's life. Tom Paris would keep

Chakotay very occupied.

"So, I take it that I have a wedding to perform. When should the

ceremony take place?"

"A-S-A-P!" Tom answered.

"As soon as possible, how about this evening at 1800 in holodeck

one. Afterwards you and Chakotay will begin you're two day

honeymoon."

"Perfect! We'll be there with bells on!" The doctor chimed in.

"A dress uniform would be preferable!" Janeway quipped jokingly.

"Everybody's a comedian!" The doctor complained and stomped off to

his office.

"Thank you, Kathryn."

"You're welcome Chakotay. It's good to see you this happy." She

turned to Tom, "You'd better damn sure keep him this way. I know for

a fact that the commanding officer of this ship can be a total bitch

when things don't run smoothly on her bridge."

"Yes Ma'am!" Tom said and snapped a salute. "Keep the husband

happy, general order number one!"

"All kidding aside is this to be a private affair?"

"We'll leave that to decision to you Captain." Chakotay said.

"All hands to battle stations!" Janeway began rubbing her hands

together as she quickly left Sickbay.

"Oh god, I think we're going to regret that one!"

"As long as she doesn't decide to land the ship so everyone can

attend I think it will be alright."

"Hey doc! You're invited!"

"I wouldn't miss this for the world, Mr. Paris finally off the

market!"

"Hey!"

"Come on, Flyboy. Let's go."

The couple left sickbay hand in hand.

"Neelix, I'm warning you. If you put one particle of Leola root in

that wedding cake, I'll personally throw you out the nearest airlock!"

"Understood Captain!"

"That goes for any of the food at this reception! You hear me,

follow the recipes no "improvements"."

"Yes captain. I understand, but what if I…"

"Neelix, I said NO!"

"Aye Captain."

~*~

Janeway tore through the ship like a tornado. She barked orders to

various members of the command staff. This had to be done quickly,

there was no way that Voyager' s first marriage was going to be a

quite little ceremony! She was the surrogate mother for this crew

and damn it she was going to have a big wedding for her First Officer

and her Pilot!

"Commander Tuvok, I need you to compile a duty roster. Only

essential personnel are to be on duty during the wedding. Make sure

that we're in a secure area of space."

"Aye Captain."

"Mr. Kim, your duty shift will end early."

"Why captain?"

"Well, Tom needs a best man Mr. Kim."

"Thank you ma'am."

"You're quite welcome Harry. Now get back to work, you'll be

relieved at 1500. Get your dress uniform pressed. You're dismissed."

Harry left the ready room and returned to his post.

"Tuvok, how do you think that the crew will react to a married couple

on the command staff?"

"There have been marriages on other ships. Usually there is no lapse

in efficiency. However, I have never heard of a same-sex marriage in

all of Star Fleet. It is not against regulations, the fleet doesn't

care who you are married to as long as the work gets done."

"I just hope that Tom and Chakotay are both as ready for this as they

think they are."

"Captain, if I may. I have observed that when a man behaves as Mr.

Paris has in the past it usually takes a strong person to help him

settle down. I believe that Mr. Chakotay will be that strong

person. Honestly, I do not believe that any woman of any species

represented on Voyager would be able to tame Mr. Paris."

"I hope you're right Tuvok. Otherwise things may just get a bit

complicated. You have the bridge Tuvok. I've still got to find a

holosetting and get my uniform ready. As well as decide how I am

going to handle the ceremony."

"Be sure to have the doctor record the ceremony."

"Oh, why?"

"For prosperity, Mr. Paris is finally off the market."

Janeway lifted her right eyebrow as she watched the Vulcan turn and

leave the ready room. "

"If I didn't know Tuvok better I'd swear that was a joke!"

~*~

"Tom are you sure you want to do this?"

"Absolutely, why are you having second thoughts?"

"No, but we haven't even, you know."

"That's for after the ceremony, lover."

Tom's combadge chirped.

"Captain to Paris."

"Yes captain?"

"It's bad luck for the groom to see, the well in this case, the groom

before the wedding."

"In that case there's nothing to worry about captain, I'm still not

seeing very well."

"Just be at the holodeck on time. I've decided on a location. I

believe you'll be pleased."

"I understand Captain."

"Oh and Tom, if you get cold feet I'll have Tuvok enclose you in a

level 10 force field before you leave Chakotay at the altar."

"That won't be a problem Captain," Tom answered laughing.

Tom closed the channel.

"Well love it looks like we're getting married."

"Are you hungry, I could make lunch?"

"Lunch sounds good to me."

"What are you in the mood for?"

"You don't want me to answer that?"

"Food, Tom keep your mind on the subject as hand."

"Surprise me. I'm going to go change, after lunch I believe I'll

need a nap. I plan on being awake a long time tonight."

"I suppose that means I'd better catch a nap too."

"If you know what's good for you."

Tom found the clothing that he had abandoned earlier. He was dressed

himself then returned to the sitting room. Chakotay had a plate

waiting for him.

"So what are we having?"

Chakotay waited until Tom was seated then lifted something to his

lips. Tom opened his mouth to speak and found an oyster had been

deposited in his mouth. He quickly swallowed.

"It's a bit early in the day don't you think?"

"Not today, here have some champagne. We're going to start our

private celebration a little early."

Tom reached for the plate on Chakotay's lap. He lifted one of the

oysters and fed it to Chakotay. The big man ate it with gusto,

chasing it with a swallow of the champagne.

"Chakotay, you do know that oysters are an…"

"Aphrodisiac. Yes I know, I want you nice and primed for tonight."

Tom leaned back; this was going to be a night to remember.

When the last sip of champagne was drained and the last oyster eaten,

Tom and Chakotay retired to the bedroom. They lay intertwined,

drifting off to sleep. The last thing Chakotay did was to set the

alarm to wake them up at 1600, plenty of time to get ready for the

wedding.

~*~

Chakotay woke up before the alarm he cancelled it. Chakotay eased

out of the bed and made his way back to the living room. He needed

to check on a few things.

He tapped his combadge. "Chakotay to the Captain."

"Yes, Chakotay?"

"What is the status on that anomaly that we were investigating?"

"We've reached the coordinates, however there's no sign of any

wormhole. We're going to maintain position here for the next couple

of days. Should the anomaly reoccur."

"The Bajoran wormhole closes in upon itself until a ship is in

position to enter. Have you tried?" Janeway interrupted Chakotay.

"Yes, Commander, Ensign Kim took a shuttlecraft and checked there is

no hidden wormhole."

"I understand."

"You're off duty Commander. You shouldn't concern yourself."

"Voyager's well being is utmost in everyone's mind."

"Understood, I'll keep you informed should anything occur."

"Thank you, I'll see you at the ceremony."

"Janeway out."

Chakotay busied himself making the quarters tidy. Tom while not a

slob was a bit behind in his housekeeping duties. When he began

vacuuming the carpet he heard Tom' s moan of protest. Chakotay

smiled to himself, Tom was not a morning person. Chakotay finished

cleaning then put away the cleaner.

"Chakotay what are you doing? The quarters aren't that bad."

"Just a little touching up, love. I needed something to keep me

busy. I'm sorry I disturbed you."

"That's ok, we need to start getting ready for the ceremony. You go

ahead and take a sonic shower, I'll set out some clothing."

"Aren't we going to wear our dress uniforms?"

"No, Lt. Paris isn't marrying Cmdr. Chakotay. Tom Paris is marrying

Chakotay. Go take your shower. I'll be there in a minute."

"Alright, I'll trust you to made the choice of our wardrobe."

Chakotay said then walked out of the room.

Tom listened until he heard the sonic shower start up. He then moved

to the replicator.

"Computer, replicate two white tuxedos with tails, also top hats and

white shoes. Use stored personal information on Tom Paris, and

Chakotay."

The replicated whirred when it had completed the cycle there were two

complete outfits waiting on the platform.

"Computer, two gold wedding bands one sized to fit the ring finger of

Tom Paris, the other the ring finger of Chakotay. Place an

inscription on the inside of both rings, Tom and Chakotay. Love

forever."

Again the machine performed its cycle, leaving two small box velvet

boxes on the platform. Tom lifted the precious items and placed them

in the pocket of his tuxedo.

"Tay, your clothes laying on your side of the bed."

"I'm finished with the shower. Your turn."

"I'm on the way."

As they passed each other Chakotay pulled Tom close and kissed him.

"I love you."

"I love you too, baby."

"There's one thing I need to talk to you about."

"What?"

"In my tribe, when two people are married, they bear the same mark."

"The tattoo?"

"Yes, it's part of my heritage. I'll understand if you don't want to

follow the practice."

"I said forever. I'll bear your mark, Chakotay." Tom said and

kissed the Indian. "I will bear it with honor."

"You'd better take your shower. I'll get dressed and then I'll get

what I need from my quarters and be back to get you."

"I'll meet you at holodeck a. My sight is much better. I'll be able

to find my way alright."

"You're sure?"

"Yes, just don't stand me up!"

"You're not getting off that easy."

Tom moved into the bathroom. He stepped on the platform of the

shower.

"Computer activate sonic shower."

The air began to vibrate as the shower sent ionic pulses from the

platform upward into the receiver mounted on the ceiling. Tom hated

these things, but they were a necessary part of living on a

starship.

The cycle ended and Tom exited the shower, feeling like he'd lost a

layer of skin. He checked his hair in the mirror. It was

definitely thinning. He hoped Chakotay liked bald men, because the

way things were going he was going to end up with one.

Tom sighed and moved over to the bed. He lifted the tuxedo, he

really shouldn't wear white, but he and Chakotay needed to match. He

began to dress. The tuxedo fit his body perfectly. He was pleased

with the look of it as he looked in the mirror. He placed the top

hat on his head. He looked like a dapper gentleman.

"Not bad, I wonder if Chakotay looks as good in his." Tom said to

himself. "Computer time?"

"The time is now 1740."

Time to go. Tom left his quarters and boarded the turbolift. When

the doors opened on the deck that contained holodeck A, he was

surprised to see a flurry of activity. What under all the stars had

Janeway done?

"Mr. Paris, you're early. Please wait here," Neelix said and

motioned for Tom to enter a vacant set of quarters.

"Computer, location of Commander Chakotay?"

"Commander Chakotay is in turbolift alpha 12."

"Destination of turbolift alpha 12?"

"Deck six."

Good Chakotay was on the way. He should be here any minute, surely

they would shepherd the commander into the waiting area like they did

Tom. The minutes dragged by but Chakotay wasn't shown into the

room. Finally Tom inquired again as to his location.

"Commander Chakotay is in holodeck A."

Tom moved toward the door, when it opened he saw that Neelix was

standing to one side, acting as a guard.

"Neelix?"

"We're almost ready Tom. Just a few more minutes, please be patient."

Tom sighed and moved back into the room. All this pomp for a simple

wedding? Tom noticed his palms were beginning to sweat; his hands

were also starting to tremble.

He moved back to the door. Neelix was still there playing watchdog.

"Neelix, if this show doesn't get moving soon, I'll need a drink. My

hands just started shaking."

"Ahhh, the pre-wedding jitters. We almost there," Just then Tom

heard music start playing.

"Come on Tom, its time." Before Tom knew what as happening he and

Neelix were walking down the aisle. They were in Sandrine' s bar, of

all places. The tables and chairs had been removed; also the pool

table was gone. The entire structure looked as though it had been

scrubbed down with linseed oil. The antique wood glowed with the

combination of conventional and candlelight. Sandrine, or the

holographic representation of her was seated on the front row; she

looked back at him smiling. There were tears in her eyes.

Tom was surprised to see that the small bar had been enlarged; most

of the crew's compliment was present. Evidently, the ship was

operating on a skeleton crew. As they reached the end of the aisle,

Neelix surrendered Tom' s arm to Chakotay. The couple looked

lovingly at each other then turned to face the Captain.

The music stopped, and Captain Janeway softly cleared her throat.

"Ladies and Gentleman, Since the first ships sailed across the oceans

of Earth, it has been the duty and privilege of the ship's captain to

join two people in the bonds of matrimony. This is the first

marriage to take place on Voyager. This is a special day, not only

for Tom and Chakotay, but also for all of us. This marks the day

that this ship becomes more than a ship. It has become our home. We

see these two men who have decided to go on with their lives, making

their way together. We will not abandon our goal of returning to

Earth; however let us always remember that it's not the destination!

It's the journey, let's make it a memorable one."

There was a brief applause at the Captain's sentiment. When all was

quite she continued.

"Chakotay, please take Tom's right hand and repeat after me. I,

Chakotay, of Dorvan V."

"I, Chakotay, of Dorvan V."

"Take thee as my husband, to honor, love and protect as long as we

shall live."

"Take thee as my husband, to honor, love and protect as long as we

shall live." Chakotay's voice was filled with emotion, his eyes full

of love.

"Tom, please repeat after me. I, Tom Paris, Take thee as my husband."

"I, Tom Paris, Take thee as my husband."

"To honor, love and protect as long as we shall live." Captain

Janeway's eyes had grown misty as she continued the vows.

"To honor, love and protect as long as we shall live."

"Are there rings?"

"Yes" Tom answered.

"The wedding band is a symbol of love, it is without beginning and

without end. May your love be like these rings, eternal without

beginning or end. Chakotay, place your ring on Tom's left hand,

saying "With this ring, I thee wed."

"With this ring, I thee wed."

"Tom, place your ring on Chakotay's left hand, saying "With this

ring, I thee wed."

"With this ring, I thee wed."

"By the power vested in me, by the station of Captain of USS Voyager,

under the direction of the United Federation of Planets, I now

pronounce you both, married. You may kiss the groom."

Chakotay pulled Tom to him and kissed him, a deep and loving kiss,

filled with the promise of a life together.

"Under normal circumstances, this would conclude the ceremony,

however this is not a normal wedding. By marrying Chakotay, Tom is

becoming a member of Chakotay's tribe. According to tribal tradition

when two souls are joined they are to be marked. The mark is to be a

sign of loyalty, fidelity, and love. Tom has agreed to this

tradition and the tattoo will be applied before this assembly for all

to see! Chakotay, I turn the floor over to you."

Chakotay led Tom over to a waiting chair. There was a tray of

instruments waiting.

Chakotay whispered to his new husband. "Tom, you'll not feel

anything. I'm going to use a local anesthetic, the tattoo will be

applied with a modern stylus, and then I'll use a dermal regenerator."

"Do it." Tom's eyes lifted to his new mate. He let his love and

determination show through his eyes.

"My husband, with eyes the color of the heavens."

Chakotay began to apply the tattoo. Within a few moments, Tom's

forehead had become numb. Within ten minutes, the tattoo was applied

and the dermal regenerator had been used.

Tom stood, allowing the assembled to see his face. There was

thunderous applause. Tom and Chakotay joined hands then motioned for

the Captain to again take the floor.

"This ceremony is now concluded. There will be a reception shortly

here in the holodeck. I hope that all of you can attend. I assure

you that there is no Leola root in the food." She glared pointedly

at the little Talaxian.

The reception was a major event. Holoimagers flashed from every

corner of the room as Tom and Chakotay cut their wedding cake. Tom

offered his slice to Chakotay, who allowed his mate to feed him the

morsel. Chakotay then offered his to Tom. Tom opened his mouth just

as the cake was pushed into his face.

Tom looked at his husband; the dark haired man was smiling

sheepishly.

"Tay!"

"Love you, baby."

The couple offered each other sips of champagne, and the imaging

devices flashed again.

"There is going to be pictures of us everywhere." Chakotay whispered.

"As long as they're not on dartboards, I don't mind."

Chakotay pulled his new mate to him and kissed him tenderly.

"Now Tom, Chakotay there are some things that need your attention."

Janeway said.

"What?"

"Mr. Neelix if you would be so kind."

The little alien moved into the room, he was barely visible behind

the packages as he guided them to the happy couple.

"Great Spirits!" Was all that Chakotay could get out.

"Alright! Presents!" Tom said looking like a child on Christmas

morning.

Tom and Chakotay each took turns opening gifts. Everything

imaginable was there, clothing, replicator rations, holodeck rations,

there were items of comfort for their quarters. More things than

they would ever need.

"That one's from me." Harry said indicating the package that Tom

held. "Wait until later to open that one."

"Why Harry? Is it something embarrassing?"

"Maybe."

Tom smiled and ripped the gold paper. He opened the box then slammed

the lid back down.

"Harry Kim, I'm surprised at you."

"Let me see," Chakotay took the box and opened it. He smiled showing

off those sexy dimples then lifted the contents of the box. It

contained a pair of fur lined handcuffs.

"Put that away!" Tom said looking at the older man.

"Thank you Harry!"

All round the room people laughed. No one would have thought that

the quite man would have reacted that way to such a present. For

that matter everyone was surprised to see Tom's reaction.

"If you think for one second that you're getting me in those."

Chakotay kissed Tom deeply. Tom did realize it but Chakotay deftly

locked the cuffs around his wrists.

"Chakotay! Get these off! I mean it, otherwise I'll cut you off on

your wedding night!"

"Opps!" Chakotay unlocked the cuffs and stowed them back in the box.

"Tom, don't be angry. I'm sorry I shouldn't have given you those."

"Harry, I'm glad you did. I just don't want people all in my

business." Tom whispered back to his best friend.

When all the presents had been unwrapped and admired, Kathryn Janeway

moved to stand by the couple.

"I have a couple of gifts for you as well. Unfortunately, they

wouldn't fit in a box." She handed Tom and Chakotay each an envelope.

Tom opened his first and read the card aloud.

"Tom and Chakotay, congratulations on your new partnership. May

you're love last forever. You will find a new set of quarters

awaiting your return from your honeymoon. Since there are no family

quarters on this ship. I have taken the liberty of expanding the

first officer's cabin including the adjoining suite of rooms. I hope

that you will be comfortable here. My best wishes, Captain Janeway."

Tom was speechless.

Chakotay opened his envelope and read.

"Tom and Chakotay, in honor of your wedding. I hereby grant you

seven days of leave. This leave is to be spent in the holodeck. No

rations will be deducted from your accounts. Enjoy your honeymoon.

All my best, Kathryn."

Tom and Chakotay moved together and hugged their captain and friend.

No words were spoken. None were needed. She had shown that she

supported their union fully and truly wished them all happiness in

the world.

The final part of the reception was now underway. Tom, Chakotay, and

the wedding party stood in the receiving line. All the women and

many of the men hugged Tom. The most surprising turn was when Ken

Dalby moved to face the young man.

"Tom, I know that I've really been an ass. I'm sorry; I sincerely

wish you and Chakotay all the happiness possible."

"Ken, thank you."

Dalby extended his hand for Tom to shake. Tom took it, them pulled

the man into a friendly embrace. The two men pounded each other's

backs like old friends.

The last person through the line was the doctor. He smiled at both

the he men and offered his congratulations. Just before he left the

holodeck he asked them to stop by sickbay as soon as they were able

to get away. He had something for them and hadn't wanted to cause a

scene like Harry's gift had.

"What do you think it is?" Tom asked his husband when the doctor was

out of earshot.

"I haven't any idea."

Janeway took the opportunity to approach the newlyweds. She smiled

as she spoke.

"Chakotay, Tom I've assigned your seven days to holodeck B. This one

will have to be cleaned up before it can be used again and I didn't

want you to have to for that."

"Thank you, Kathryn. We appreciate it."

"Tom how are you?"

"Honestly, Captain I'm bushed."

"I meant your sight?"

"Oh it is coming back. I can see pretty well now. Thanks for

asking, ma'am."

"Tom you're married to my number one, and we're off duty. I believe

Kathryn would be acceptable."

"Thank you, Kathryn."

"Now both of you go, you've got some R & R to take advantage of."

Kathryn patted both of the men on the shoulder and walked back to the

cleaning staff.

"Personally, I think we have some S & F to take care of." Chakotay

whispered to Tom.

"Huh?"

"Sucking and fucking."

"You're terrible!"

"You love it and you know it."

"Let's go. We'll stop by sickbay then go straight to the honeymoon

suite."

The two men strode from the holodeck, holding hands.

~*~

When Tom and Chakotay arrived at Sickbay, the doctor was waiting.

"Misters Paris. Please step into my office."

"So doc, you said that there was something you wanted to give us?"

"Yes, Tom I hope that I'm not being presumptuous. However, I thought

that you and Chakotay might need some items." The holographic doctor

handed Tom a closed box.

"What is it?"

"A necessities kit. I've included two internal cleansers, a level 7

dermal regenerator, a rather large bottle of lubricant, and a

instructional video."

Tom tried to cover a nervous laugh, and failed miserably.

"Doctor, thank you however I assure you that there is some knowledge

of the mechanics of the process."

"Chakotay, I meant no insult. I just wanted to make sure that all

contingencies were covered."

"Thanks doc. We appreciate the thought."

"You are quite welcome. Also if you have any questions, I am always

available by way of the comm."

"Chakotay, let's go love." Tom took the older man's hand and

practically had to drag him from the room."

Outside in the corridor Tom had to fight to keep from doubling over

with laughter. He dropped the box and was forced to support himself

against a bulkhead.

"I do not think this is at all funny!"

Tom fought for composure; finally he was able to speak.

"Chakotay, you have to realize that the good doctor's heart was in

the right place. He just doesn't understand the need for privacy in

these matters. Trust me, Love someday we'll both look back on this

and we' ll both find it hilarious."

"Perhaps you are right, maybe someday, but not today. Now let's get

to that holodeck. I have plans for you tonight!"

Chakotay grabbed Tom and together they boarded the turbolift. They

disembarked on deck six. Chakotay and Tom paused outside of the

secondary holodeck.

"Computer activate program, Chakotay spiritual retreat."

"Program is ready." As the computer responded the double doors to

the holodeck opened.

Tom and Chakotay entered the holographic environment, the doors

closing silently behind them.

"Computer activate privacy lock, authorization Chakotay Delta 4-1-1."

"Privacy lock engaged."

Chakotay smiled at his new mate, then led the man through the wooded

area to a nearby awaiting cabin.

"It's beautiful here, Tay. It reminds me so much of Earth."

"This is were I lived as a child on Dorvan V. My father and his

father before him had claim on this land."

"I thought that no one owned land. At least that's how the American

Indians on Earth thought."

"We had progressed a great deal by the time my ancestors landed on

Dorvan V. Some for the better, other changes were out of

necessity. We the Dorvan Indians still felt a great appreciation of

nature, and strove to care for any lands that we were entrusted

with. On Dorvan V, land was awarded by grant, never sold. My great-

grand father saved a chief from certain death when he fell over a

cliff. As a reward my family received the grant to 50 hectares of

forest land."

Tom was enchanted by the idea of growing up in a forest. He'd heard

fairy tales as a child about such things. However on Earth all

forestland was protected, as national parks and game preserves. One

could visit for short periods but no one, not even the park rangers

were allowed to live in the preserves.

"We're almost to the house. I hope you like it. A couple of times

each year I come here."

"I always wondered where you went, everyone knows that you take the

same three days off duty every year. No one ever could find out why."

"Those days are important to me. One is the day my father, Kolopak

died. The other is the anniversary of the destruction on Dorvan V,

at the hand of the Cardassians. I always come to the cabin, the home

of my youth, to meditate. I renew my love of this place and my faith

in the old ways."

"You come here to seek enlightenment?"

"Sometimes, my spirit guide sometimes sees the need to teach the

occasional lesson. Let's go in."

Chakotay opened the heavy oak door and motioned for Tom to go first.

Inside the cabin was cozy, there was a small fire burning in the fire

place. The floors were hardwood, but hand braided rugs covered the

bare floors, offering warmth to chilled toes. Tom noticed a woody

scent floating on the air.

"What's that smell, Tay?"

"Cedar, every closet is lined with it. On my world all of our

garments were made from natural fibers, cotton, or wool. The cedar

lined closets were to keep moths from destroying our clothes."

"The scent is almost intoxicating."

"You get accustomed to it. It doesn't even register with me anymore."

"Too bad."

"You'll find that this cabin, while looking rustic has been equipped

with all the modern conveniences. There is a replicator in the

kitchen, full baths with shower and tub. I even installed sonic

showers, incase my rations were running low."

"My husband, the boy scout. Be prepared."

"I always try to be."

Tom wrapped his arms around Chakotay's neck, pulling the bigger man

to him. Their lips merged creating heat with the friction. Tom's

desire for the man began to rise. He could tell that Chakotay was

also getting excited

"Is that a phaser in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"

"What ever it is, it's all your."

Chakotay claimed the smooth, silky lips in a crushing kiss. His

tongue explored the moist heat of Tom's mouth. They were interrupted

by the familiar sound of a transporter effect. There on the dining

table was the unmistakable sign of a materialization taking place.

"I thought the privacy lock blocked incoming transport?"

"It does, there's only one person on Voyager who can override my

command codes."

"Kathryn!" Both men said together.

When the sparkling lights faded there was a bottle sitting on the

table with two antique crystal flutes. There was also a container of

caviar. The bottle had a card attached. Chakotay took it and read

the note.

"Chakotay and Tom. I apologize for the interruption. However I

wanted the two of you to have this special bottle of champagne. It'

s the real thing not replicated. My family sent it to me just before

we left space dock. This is the first really special occasion.

Please accept it as my personal gift to you. I promise, no more

interruptions. All my love. Kathryn."

Tom lifted the bottle, reading the label.

"Dom Perignon 2301! This has to be a joke!"

"The one thing that Kathryn doesn't do is joke. What's so special

about a dusty old bottle of champagne?"

"This dusty old bottle of champagne is one of only thirty-two bottles

of this year known to survive the earthquake of 2301. It rocked

Labarre, France with an 8.2 on the Richter scale. That year' s

vintage had just been bottled and was placed in a warehouse on the

vineyard grounds to wait for the transport to take the bottles to the

storage facility. The quake hit and when it was over there were only

32 bottles remaining. This is one of, if not the most rare of

vintages known in existence!"

"We can't accept this."

"Comm Kathryn, tell her that we couldn't."

"Chakotay to Captain Janeway."

"What are you doing calling me? You're on your honeymoon, for crying

out loud."

"Captain?"

"I'm alone."

"Kathryn, the champagne, thank you but we can't accept such a rare

gift."

"Nonsense, I have 10 more bottles."

"What!" Tom exclaimed.

"You heard me Mr. Paris."

"Kathryn there were only 32 left after…"

"The Labarre quake of 2301. That's correct, however my grandfather

was the Vine Master of that vineyard; he had received twenty five

bottles of champagne. It was a bonus; the harvest had broken the

previous record. Now will you two close the channel and drink that

champagne?"

"Yes ma'am." Chakotay closed the comm channel. He and Tom looked at

each other stunned.

"She has 10 more bottles?" Tom said, "Wait until dear old Dad hears

this. He'll be beside himself. He only has 2."

"Enough with the champagne."

"Alright, a soak in the hot tub?"

"There isn't one."

Tom walked to the backdoor. He opened it and looked out. The door

opened onto a raised deck. Around the perimeter of the deck were

wooden chairs.

"May I?" He asked.

"Of course, it's yours now, too."

"Computer, insert a cedar hot tub on this deck." Tom addressed the

holocomputer.

"State the composition material."

"Cedar."

"Specify size and shape of hot tub."

"Shape round, size seating for four."

Chakotay walked over and stood by Tom.

"Planning to invite a couple of friends?"

"No, but this way there's plenty of room to move around."

The tub had materialized on the deck just as Tom had instructed the

computer. It was already activated and the water was being churned

by a multitude of micro-mini jets.

"I'll get a couple of robes, and some towels. There should be a

suit…"

"We're married, we're alone. Translation, who needs a suit." Tom

said as he wagged his eyebrows.

"I'll be right back, you go ahead."

"Don't be long."

Chakotay walked back to the living room in the cabin. He mounted the

staircase and made his way to the upstairs. He went down the hall to

the second door on the right. He opened the door to the linen

closet. He took out two huge plush towels.

Throwing the towels over his should, he moved to the third door.

This was the master bedroom. He walked in and strode across the

room. Opening his closet he took out two white terry cloth robes.

`Just like the ones that Mama and Papa always wore.' He thought.

This bedroom, in the original cabin had been his parent's room. When

he came here he usually slept in his old room. Tonight, he and Tom

would make this their room. He believed that his parents would have

approved.

Chakotay placed the robes and towels on the chest at the foot of the

bed. He turned back the covers. As he fluffed the pillows he

decided to make a couple of changes of his own.

"Computer, lights to 15%, scatter rose petals over the sheets. Place

candles in holders randomly around the room until ambient light is at

25% of normal."

The computer complied. Chakotay liked the effect; he took time to

rearrange a couple of the candles.

"Computer extinguish candles until this room is occupied. At that

time relight all candles."

"Direction recorded. Awaiting next occupant." The computer replied

as the candles all went out as though they had been switched off.

Chakotay lifted the robes and towels and made his way back downstairs.

When he stepped out on the deck he had removed his tuxedo. He had

hung both of them in the hall closet; Tom had shucked his clothing in

all directions.

"Took you long enough, I was starting to get lonely."

"We can't have that now can we." Chakotay wearing nothing but that

smile, the one he seemed to only use with Tom.

Chakotay stepped over the side of the hot tub and lowered his body

into the bubbling water. He was enveloped in heat as the jets of

water bombarded his body. He sighed deeply.

"You like it?" Tom asked as he moved over towards the man whom had

become his husband.

"Yes, Now where were we before that bottle of champagne interrupted

us?"

"Somewhere around here." Tom said wrapping his arms around the

muscular neck and lowering his body into Chakotay's lap.

"Tom I want you to make love to me tonight. I want to take you deep

inside me."

Tom smiled and kissed the big man, his tongue parting the willing

lips as he claimed his lover's mouth, just as soon he would claim his

body. They explored each other with their fingers, lips, and

tongues.

Tom felt giddy as Chakotay lifted him in those big arms and began

walking into the cabin. Tom was so engrossed in his ministrations to

the dark skinned body that he never noticed as Chakotay climbed that

stairs and gently laid him on the huge king sized bed. Chakotay was

pulled down on top of his blonde lover.

Tom's hands caressed the broad muscular shoulders, slowly moving down

the back, ending their journey of discover to cup the muscular butt.

While Tom's hands were busy, Chakotay' s mouth had found that sweet

neck. His gentle, but insistent assault on the pulse point made his

lover moan with delight.

"Ohhhh, Tay that feels so good." Tom's hands continued to caress

that wonderfully hard back. Chakotay felt Tom's hips begin to lift

from the bed as the younger man began to grind his crotch again the

larger man's.

"Tom, I need to go to the bathroom."

"NOW?"

"I'll be right back, then we'll really get started."

Chakotay kissed him quickly then rose from the bed and stepped

through to the adjoining bathroom.

This would have to be done. He reached into the cabinet by the sink

and removed an internal cleanser. He then sat down on the commode,

reaching under him to insert the device. He activated it allowing it

to do what it was programmed to do.

When the cycle had completed he replaced the device in the cabinet.

Then took out a tube of lubricant. He applied the oil based gel to

his fingers. He began to stretch his anus. Finally when he could

insert all four fingers with little or no pain he washed his hands.

He opened the door and returned to bed.

Tom flipped him on to his back as soon as he was in the bed. The

beautiful man began to kiss him, then moved down to titillate first

one nipple then its mate. The reaction spurred him to further

explorations. Painfully slowly Tom worked his way down this

beautiful body, this canvas, his tongue the brush. He traced

patterns upon the surface that were burnt into Chakotay's brain like

liquid fire.

When Tom reached the aching erection he didn't even slow. His tongue

went down the leg, tracing the delicate ankle bones. He sucked each

toe of the left foot, then the right. He journey continued up the

right leg, when he again reached the cock he lifted it to his lips.

"Oh, baby!"

Tom used his saliva to lubricate the large organ. He was determined;

he controlled his breathing, inhaling with each forward movement of

his head. He relaxed his throat muscles. Finally, he was able to

take the entire cock down his throat. He tried to swallow as

Chakotay had; instead he gagged and had to pull off.

"Tom?"

"Yes, Love?"

"Take me."

Two tiny words, conveyed so much to the blonde man, Chakotay was

offering his body, a part of his being to Tom. He was trusting Tom

to take care of him and give them both pleasure, to merge not only

their bodies, but a part of their souls as well. Never before had

those two words meant so much to this young man.

Tom knelt between Chakotay's spread legs. He reached up and grabbed

one of the pillows. Tom lifted Chakotay's legs to his shoulders;

leaning forward slid the pillow under the lower back of his beloved.

Tom let Chakotay' s body rest fully on the bed and the pillow. He

looked around and saw an oil dispenser by the bed. He grabbed it and

applied a liberal amount of the scented oil to his cock.

He looked into the dark eyes of his lover. They were afire in the

candlelight, however there was another fire there. The light of love

shone in those dark pools.

Chakotay felt the head of Tom's cock against him. He nodded to the

blonde beauty. He felt Tom slide slowly in. Only an inch or so.

Tom waited until he felt the muscles go slack around him then pushed

forward again. It continued this way until Tom's balls slapped

against the deep tanned hide of Chakotay's backside.

"Are you alright, Love?" Tom's eyes were dilated with lust. Even so

he would not rush this. He would not betray the love and trust that

his lover had placed in him.

"Just hold still a minute, let me get used to it." Chakotay was in

pain, he just felt uncomfortably full. Chakotay moved his legs from

Tom's shoulders. He wrapped his legs around the thin waist, locking

the ankles.

"Ready Chakotay?"

"Yes, just start out slow."

Tom pulled out about half way then thrust back into the moist velvety

heat. Chakotay threw his head back, his eyes mere slits and moaned

as the invader grazed his prostate gland.

Chakotay felt Tom's pace begin to pick up, he tightened his anal

muscles then loosened them, increasing his lover's pleasure as well

as his own.

"Tay, so tight…Ah baby it's soooo….good!" Tom moaned as he continued

to thrust into his lover.

Chakotay smiled up at the man, then as Tom's forward motion began the

older man pulled with his locked legs, pulling his lover's cock even

deeper within him.

Tom's hand wrapped around Chakotay's still erect penis. He began to

stroke the man using the same rhythm as his thrusts. On and on their

primal dance continued building in its intensity and urgency.

"Tom…I'm going to cum!"

"Do it, baby. Cum for me."

Chakotay felt his body tense then the orgasm took hold, rocketing him

to the heights of ecstasy. His entire body was wracked by the

contractions. Tom still thrusting deeply into him felt the waves of

heat and tension wash over his cock. It was too much; it pushed the

younger man beyond his control. As Chakotay' s seed splashed on to

their chests Tom's seed filled his lover to overflowing.

When it was over, their passions spent, Tom collapsed beside his

mate. Chakotay gathered the man into his arms. They kissed and

caressed each other, talking only in whispered words.

"Tay, I love you."

"Love you baby."

Chakotay rose from the bed, he padded to the bathroom. Tom heard the

rush of water. Chakotay walked back in, using a warm cloth he

cleaned his lover's body. When he was done he threw the cloth

into `fresher.

"Chakotay?"

"Hmmm?"

"Should I go get the champagne?"

"That sounds nice. Unless you're ready to pass out."

"Not yet. It's still early."

"We're here for a week. There's no rush."

"I know, but tonight's special."

"Get the champagne, but I don't eat caviar."

"I'll be right back."

Tom rose from the bed and walked down stairs. Thankfully, Kathryn

had sent the champagne on ice, since neither one of them would have

thought to chill it. Tom lifted the bottle almost reverently. He

left the caviar; they would dispose of it later.

Tom instructed the computer to replicate a plate of chocolate covered

strawberries. This he added to the tray with the flutes and the

champagne. He lifted the tray and carried it upstairs.

Chakotay had returned to bed when Tom entered the room.

Tom sat down the tray then popped the cork from the bottle. He

poured the precious liquid into first one flute then the other. He

handed one to Chakotay then lifted his.

"A toast, To our eternal love."

"To you, the light of my heart."

They drank, the champagne was by far the most exotic, and most potent

that either of them had ever had.

Tom placed one of the strawberries to Chakotay's lips. He opened his

mouth, taking a bite from the berry. Tom ate what he left. Each

berry was first offered to the older man then Tom ate.

"Tay?"

"Yes lover?"

"How long before we can go again?" The younger man asked with a

deadpan expression on his face.

"You are insatiable!"

"It's my wedding night! I'm supposed to be and so are you!"

"I'm ready anytime now."

"I want you to love me."

"Tom, are you sure? I mean I want to but…"

Tom placed a finger to the sensual lips.

"I'm sure, I want to…Please baby, make me yours."

"Tom this is going to take a while. It won't be like it was when you

made love to me. We've to go prepare you. I told you that I'd never

hurt you and I meant it."

"Ok, so what do we do first?"

Chakotay took Tom to the bathroom. He brought out one of the

internal cleansers that the doctor had provided.

"You know how to use one of these?"

"Yes, I am the chief medic on Voyager."

"You'll need to use that thoroughly. When you're done come back to

bed and we'll start."

Tom used the cleanser, it took three cycles before he was satisfied

that the water was running clear as it exited his body. Still for

good measure he used the device again. When he was finished he

washed the cleanser and placed it in the cabinet beside Chakotay's

his was blue Tay's was green, they wouldn' t be mixed up. Tom washed

his hands and left the bathroom. Tay was sitting on the bed, sipping

at the flute.

"Here, have another glass of champagne. It will help you to relax,

that is important."

"Thanks. Tom took a healthy sip from the flute.

"Tom, I tell you what I'm about to do. I will start by massaging

your backside. I will use lots of the oil, which is to help relax

the muscles. When you' re relaxed enough I will lubricate one finger

and slip it inside you. When you feel the penetration your first

instinct will be to tighten up and resist. Don't resist, relax just

let it happen. There will be some discomfort but I' ll go slowly.

Your body will adapt to the one finger and loosen up for it. When

that happens, I'll add another finger. You'll loosen up for the

second and I'll add a third."

"Then what?"

"Once you can take my three fingers, I am going to insert a butt

plug. It will actually be smaller than what you have been stretched

to. We'll take a break after that, possibly a nap. When we wake up,

you'll decide if you' re ready to go the rest of the way."

Tom merely nodded. He polished off the remaining champagne in the

flute he held.

"Here, one more and we'll start. That is if you're certain you want

to."

"Tay, I do. I married you today and I want to experience this. I

want to love you the same as you did me earlier. I know that you

love me and you'll be gentle. As long as we go slow and easy we'll

be fine."

Tom sipped his champagne, as he reached out to trace the outline of

Chakotay's tattoo with his fingertips. Chakotay's eyes closed, he

was obviously finding the tactile contact enjoyable. Tom took the

opportunity to move closer. He began to trace the dark lines with

the tip of his tongue. Chakotay's body began to tremble under Tom's

gentle motions.

"Oh, Poocuh that feels so sexy."

Tom felt the thick fingers as they slipped through his hair to cradle

his head. Chakotay led him into another passionate kiss. It was

Tom' s turn to tremble as he felt the other hand beginning to massage

his ass. Chakotay moved back, pulling Tom into the center of the bed.

"Stay on your hands and knees, Poocuh. I think you'll enjoy what

comes next."

Tom was about to answer went he felt a warm wet object probing his

backdoor. Chakotay was rimming his ass. Tom would have pulled away

but he was cleaner inside than out right now, that and the sensations

were so powerful that he could not find his voice.

A deep moan slipped from the blonde man's lips as Chakotay's tongue

penetrated the guardian ring of muscle. The big man expertly

manipulated his tongue to provide a wonderful mixture of sensations.

All of this served to help relax the passage, to prepare Tom for the

next step.

Chakotay pulled his face away from Tom's ass. Tom was almost

disappointed at the loss of contact. Until he felt the warmed oil

being applied to his anus. The finger that pressed against him felt

as huge!

"Tom, just relax. I'll go slowly."

"Trust me to find a husband with fingers the size of yours!"

"Relax, Poocuh. Don't fight it, bare down, it will help open the

way."

Tom did as instructed. He felt the finger slid into him. Chakotay

gently began to move to finger, stroking the tiny prostate gland.

"Oh! What was that?"

"That's your prostate, that tiny gland is going to make your

honeymoon a night to remember."

Chakotay thrust in again with his finger stimulating the hot button.

Tom groaned as the sensations flowed up his spine like liquid fire.

While he blonde man was distracted his lover deftly slipped a second

digit into the loosening tunnel.

"Tay!"

"Relax Tom, you'll loosen up, until then I'll hold still." Chakotay

wiggled his finger just a little to touch the hot button again. That

would help Tom to adjust a little easier.

"Tay! If you touch that one more time, I'll cum!"

"Opps! We don't want that right now. You'll tighten back up. How

does it feel?"

"You can move a little. It doesn't hurt I just feel full."

The big man slowly thrust his fingers deeper into the tight channel.

Tom moaned and pushed back on the intruders, pressing them into him

deeper. Chakotay took that as his cue. After oiling the last finger

he slipped it inside Tom.

Tom's head was thrown back. This teeth clenched.

"Relax Poocuh, remember bare down. That's right see, it's already

getting easier." Chakotay's fingers were in a triangular shape as he

pressed them deeper into Tom' s tight butt. He waited holding still

not wanting to hurt his lover.

"Tay, it's okay now."

Chakotay began to slowly push in then pull his fingers out of Tom.

Eventually Tom's ass was coming back, meeting his incoming thrusts.

The Indian allowed this to continue a while longer, to help his mate

to prepare for the next step.

Chakotay reached over to the night stand and slowly slid out the

drawer. Inside there were several sizes of butt plugs. He chose

the next size up from the smallest. He had to remove his fingers to

lubricate the transparent blue toy. He quickly applied the oil to it

then slipped it expertly into the primed tunnel of his lover's body.

Tom gasped at the size of it. It was a little larger than he had

expected. However there wasn't any pain and he was so horny that it

didn't matter what was in him as long as that sweet spot was

occasionally stimulated.

"Poocuh, you ready for a nap?"

"How in all the hells am I supposed to sleep with this up my ass?"

Chakotay touched a small control on a remote and the plug began to

vibrate deep with Tom's body.

"You don't seriously expect me to sleep. Do you?"

"No, we'll take a short break. It's better for your body if we do.

It will allow it to become accustomed to being so open. Just sit

here with me and we'll finish the champagne and strawberries."

"Typical man, always hungry."

"No, I'm frustrated and need something. I figure a little oral

gratification wouldn't hurt. Besides, my father-in-law would kill me

if he found out that we allow a bottle of this stuff to go to waste."

Tom moved to the edge of the bed. He hesitated a moment then moved

gingerly to a sitting position. The plug didn't hurt, in fact, with

the vibrations it was beginning to feel really good.

"Tell me if I need to turn it off. I don't want to send you

rocketing through the roof."

Tom laughed. "Is it that obvious?"

"The look on your face is priceless. Like a little puppy."

Chakotay held the slim body against him. He slowly stroked the inner

thigh, causing tiny fires deep within the nerve endings. Tom leaned

in for another of Chakotay's kisses. They were more intoxicating

than the champagne.

When passion threatened to overwhelm, Chakotay stopped. He carefully

handed Tom the flute and refilled it with the bubbling beverage.

"I want you to know this, Poocuh. You've made me the happiest man in

the Delta quadrant."

"Tay, we're not done yet. I mean…."

"No, I don't mean that. By loving me, and marrying me. I hope that

you're happy too."

"If I wasn't I wouldn't have pushed for the marriage. I wouldn't be

here with you now. Yes, I am just as happy as you are. Perhaps even

more so."

"I don't think that's possible."

Tom yawned; it had been a long day.

"I'm boring you?"

"No, not yet anyway," Tom answered wagging his eyebrows, his lips set

in that sexy half smile. "Just been a hectic day with the wedding,

the reception and everything."

"Think you could stand a nap after all, with your friend that is."

"I don't think that my little friend here will bother me."

"I'll set the alarm for two hours."

Tom laid down on the bed on his side. Chakotay lay behind him,

spooned against his lover. Tom felt the spread being lifted to cover

him. It was the last thing he remembered.

Chakotay lay there a few minutes, thinking about how lucky he was.

Tom Paris, the man of his dreams. He had professed his love, helped

nurse the man back to health, and married him. He almost pinched

himself just incase this was a dream. Then the man decided not to,

if it was a dream he never wanted to wake up.

Chakotay then closed his eyes and slept.

~*~

Chakotay woke to the nerve tingler that he had set. It seemed like

he had just closed his eyes.

He was still spooned behind Tom's warm body. He carefully extricated

himself, trying not the wake his sleeping lover.

Chakotay moved to the other side of the bed and watched the beautiful

man sleep. He'd married an absolute angel. Any moment he almost

expected the beautiful creature to sprout wings.

"Tay, are you going to keep staring at me, or were you planning on

something else?" The angel said softly, the eyes still closed.

"I am going to make love to you."

Tom opened his eyes and threw back the covers. He lifted his arms,

the big man moved into them. Chakotay felt the strength in those

arms; his body was held tightly to that of his husband. His mouth

was assaulted by that of his lover. Very shortly their passions

having been easily rekindled, Chakotay moved between Tom's opened

legs. He lifted the oil dispenser and coated his shaft with the

aromatic substance.

Chakotay looked deeply into the sapphire eyes, he saw love and

trust. It was a sight he would remember the rest of his life.

"Love you." He whispered as he slipped the plug out of Tom.

Tom felt the head of Chakotay's cock against his rear hatch. The big

man paused there waiting. Tom looked at his husband and nodded.

Chakotay lifted Tom's legs placing them on his shoulders; he slid

inside the moist velvety heat. He controlled his need, roughly

suppressing the desire to drive his sword in to the hilt. This was

for Tom, he wouldn't allow needless pain to leave a scar on their

marriage, or more importantly betray Tom's trust in him. He slid in

slowly, slowly centimeter by centimeter. He watched Tom's face for

signs of pain. If the comely features showed the slightest

discomfort he paused in his forward motion until the look would pass.

"How much is in?"

"About half."

"My god! I'm gonna split wide open!"

"You're not getting it all. Not this time."

Chakotay stopped he waited, allowing the body under him to adjust to

the intrusion. He felt the snug canal open to accommodate his length

and girth.

"Tay, are we going to stay like this?"

Chakotay answered with a gentle flex of his flanks. The mushroom

head brushing against Tom's prostate as he began the downward motion.

"Oh, gods that's so wild! If this is what women feel, no wonder they

tolerate us."

Chakotay smiled, he had to maintain his concentration, otherwise he

would lose control and might hurt his soul mate. He continued this

slow, gentle thrusting motion for long minutes. Tom's body became

increasingly ready to accept the welcome visitor.

"Tay, too slow. Please give it to me!"

Chakotay shook his head smiling. He would not be rushed in this most

delicate of duties.

Tom groaned he tried to move his legs down, to be able to use them to

propel Chakotay deeper into him. It was no use, the Indian held

firmly to the pale calves.

"Tay! It's too slow I need it please, please baby!"

Chakotay did not increase his speed, he allowed a little more of his

manhood to penetrate on each downward stroke.

Tom wasn't touching himself; still he felt the climax building within

his body. It wasn't forming from his cock. The stimulation was

being applied inside is ass, yet his cock was reacting. The familiar

pressure began to form in the pit of his stomach. It was going to be

a gusher!

"Tay, I'm gonna cum!"

"Do it, baby. Let me know you like it."

"I love it Tay, please it's too slow!" All words left the younger

man as the orgasm began; the force of it rocked him to the very

center of his being. All the while he managed to maintain eye

contact with the big man on him.

Chakotay watched as the pleasure took his mate to new heights of

ecstasy, Tom's moans and groans becoming increasingly

unintelligible. The velvety canal began to tighten around him, as

his continued his slow movements.

The wave of pleasure caught him; his own orgasm assailed his body,

the Indian rode the wave of ecstasy with his young lover. His seed

left his body, it seemed to want to break the warp barrier. It

flowed into the willing vessel beneath him.

Tom felt the scalding heat from his lover's essence as it bore into

him. It drove his body into an even more deeper frenzy. The erotic

feeling as the thick fluid washed into him spurred his muscles and

nerves to redouble their efforts.

When at last they both returned to the mundane world, Tom felt the

bulk of Chakotay on top of him, his legs had slid from those broad

shoulders and were wrapped around his mate's trim waist.

Words would have spoiled the moment, Tom refused to speak, and he

allowed his hands and tongue to play over the exhausted body of his

lover.

Chakotay lifted his head, smiling to claim the mouth in the most

gentle of kisses.

"I love you, Tay." Tom finally spoke his words shattering the

magical silence.

"Love you more."

"Tay, you ever go that slow again, and I'll kill you!"

Chakotay laughed a deep husky mellow laugh.

"Slow is better for you and very very good for me."

Tom made a face at him. Chakotay lunged and again lifted Tom's legs

over his shoulders.

"My god!"

Chakotay laughed again, he allowed Tom to feel the hardness against

his body.

"Tay, again?"

Chakotay smiled, "You make this old body feel young again Tom."

"Alright, but we do it your way again, this time. Please."

"Slow and steady." Chakotay agreed.

Tom loved every moment of their love play, but he knew that he would

have trouble sitting the next day.

~*~

When at last they drifted off into an exhausted sleep, Tom's

unconscious mind pulled him again back to Auckland.

The dream occurred as before, with one change. As Tom Riker moved

toward him a dark haired, dark skinned angel moved from the shadows

and attacked Tom's attacker.

Tom watched the fray unsure of what was happening. When it was over

Riker barely capable of crawling back to his cell left.

Tom's savior, his avenging angel moved toward him. There were tears

of rage in the dark eyes.

A melodious voice caressed Tom as the man spoke.

"He'll never hurt you again, no one will ever hurt my baby again."

Having said only that one sentence, the guardian of Tom's spirit,

faded from view. Yet his presence remained with the young man.

Tom didn't wake from the dream in a cold sweat. His face took on the

look of a child having sweet, wonderful dreams.

Chakotay woke up first the next morning. He quietly exited the

bedroom and made his way down stairs. Today he would surprise Tom;

Chakotay began to prepare the type of breakfast that his mother

always made. He used no replicator everything was done by hand. He

had prepared the ingredients when Tom padded into the kitchen.

"What are you doing?"

"Making us breakfast."

"Is the replicator broken?"

"No I wanted this to be special, so I'm cooking it from scratch with

my own hands."

"Tay, have I told you how much I love you?"

"Not today. Have a seat, there's some freshly squeezed orange

juice." Chakotay poured a glass and pressed it into Tom's hand.

Tom moved over to the counter and hopped onto the stool. He yelped

as his newly broken in backside made contact with the hard surface.

"Tom! What's wrong?"

"Just a little tender this morning." Tom replied getting back to his

feet.

"After breakfast I'll draw you a hot bath. It will help take care of

that."

"You're too good for the likes of me." Tom said as he moved behind

the big man, wrapping his arms Chakotay's waist. Tom found that he

couldn't resist the temptation to nibble on the earlobe.

"Thomas Eugene Paris, if you make me burn your breakfast! Oh, ah!

I'll give you an hour to stop that." Chakotay changed his tune as

the skillful mouth moved down to his neck.

Tom pulled away, a sheepish smile on his face.

"I'll be good, I'm starving! Besides, my butt couldn't handle it

again."

Chakotay smiled and continued his cooking. When he had finished he

set the table.

He and Tom sat together, they ate the delicious meal while they

quietly discussed their future.

When the last bite had been eaten and the last drop of juice drank,

Chakotay sent Tom back upstairs to take a soak in a hot tub.

"I'll get lonely!" Tom protested.

"I need to clean up the kitchen, I'll be up soon."

Tom climbed the stairs as Chakotay began to put the dirty dishes into

the replicator. The machine recycled the replicated matter. As the

Indian finished wiping down the table and counter he found he was

being drawn to the cedar chest in the living room.

The chest was an exact copy of his mother's. She had kept her spirit

bundle in hers. Chakotay likewise kept a functional replica of his

in this facsimile.

Chakotay walked into the living room and lifted the lid to the

chest. He sat in the middle of the floor and opened the bundle. He

spread the leather out and gathered a black carved stone into his

hand.

"A-koo-chi-moya. I am far from the sacred places of my

grandfathers. I am far

from the bones of my people. But perhaps there is a powerful being

who will

embrace me and give me the answers I seek."

Chakotay chanted as he placed his palm on the akoonah.

His vision filled with the forest, the same one that held this copy

of his ancestral home.

"Clover Wind? I felt you call to me."

Overhead the Indian felt the air stir violently.

"My child, you have found your mate." It was no question.

"Yes, Grandmother." Chakotay addressed the powerful guide in the old

manner.

"You have marked him as one of the tribe."

"Yes, Grandmother."

"He must live as one of the tribe. You must teach him about the

path. This one has lead a difficult life. Why must parents some

parents destroy the spirits of the children?"

"I believe that some parents who have not lived the life that they

were meant to try to live that life through the children that the

Creator entrusts to them. It the most grievous of man's downfall."

"You have learned well my child. Now it is time for you to pass on

that knowledge to your husband. You must help him to find his spirit

guide."

"I understand Grandmother. Will this help to heal his spirit?"

"It is merely the first step, he will need you more than ever now.

His spirit is strong, but he numbs his emotions using not chemicals.

He allows himself to be used, for a while he feels loved."

"Did I harm his spirit when?"

"No my child, you have handled this correctly. Show Tom the love

that the child within him was never given. Unconditional love, never

turn away from him. Yet remember do not crush the sparrow in your

hand. Hold it gently; if you love it the time may come when you have

to let it fly away. If it truly loves you it will return. If it

doesn't it was never yours to begin with."

"I don't understand, Grandmother."

"In time you will. Now go and begin the education of your soul's

mate."

Chakotay found that he was again sitting in the cabin. He placed the

items back in the center of the leather, and folded it carefully. He

stored away the bundle and closed the chest.

Chakotay made his way upstairs to join Tom. As he entered the

bathroom he saw this heart's desire, reclining in a tub of steamy

water. Tom's eyes opened as the older man walked across the room to

sit by the tub.

"Are you feeling any better, love?"

"Yeah, this really hits the spot."

Chakotay smiled, "I'm sorry baby. The last thing I wanted to do was

hurt you."

"Tay! Stop that, I enjoyed last night, very much. This is just to

be expected. I mean I haven't exactly been using the back door

regularly. Once this soreness is gone, I am going to have my way

with you again, and again and yet again."

"Let's just don't wear it out in one day, alright Poocuh?" Chakotay

said as he lifted a sponge and began to cleanse the taut, pale skin

of his lover's body.

"It's like a wore core, Tay. Ya can't wear it out." Tom said with a

smart-ass smirk.

"Tom, I need to talk serious a minute."

"Alright. What about?"

"I've brought you into the tribe. My spirit guide called to me this

morning. She said that you're education of our ways needs to begin."

"What ways?"

"Spiritual ways, the ways of nature."

"Tay, we're hardly living in a natural environment."

"The old ways still apply my love."

"When do we start this education?"

"As soon as you feel up to a vision quest."

"Well as they always said in Temporal Mechanics Class, no time like

the present."

"Finish your soak. There's plenty of time." Chakotay gave his love

a peck on the forehead and rose.

"Where are you going now?"

"To prepare for your first vision quest. I'll have a garment lying

on the bed for you to wear."

"I won't be long."

Chakotay walked into the bedroom. He opened the closet and pulled

out a white linen robe. It was of simplistic design, the front

opening was held closed by bone buttons, the sleeves were short and

the length was long. It was the traditional garb for one's first

vision quest. The quest of finding one's self.

"Tom when you're ready, come out to the back yard, just past the

deck. I'll be waiting."

"Alright."

Chakotay walked downstairs and out of the back door. He continued

down the steps that led from the deck to the ground. There was a

narrow path, complete with stepping stones. He followed this until

he came to a small clearing in the woods.

In the center of the clearing was a small tent like structure made

from animal skins, they were replicated of course. Chakotay entered

the sweat lodge and began the process of laying a small fire. Once

the fire had been kindled he took a bucket and walked down to a small

stream. He filled the bucket with the cool water.

He paused a moment to admire the beauty of the synthetic

environment. The wind lifted the branches of the tall trees,

creating a music that belonged only to nature. It lifted his

spirit. He would need all of his strength to watch Tom endure this.

Chakotay thought back to his first vision quest. He had to face a

nest of vipers. As a child he had been deathly afraid of snakes.

His animal guide had told him that childish fears had to be put aside

that the spirit could achieve maturity.

What would Tom face? Chakotay was afraid for the young man. His

spirit was strong yes, even Chakotay could feel that. Yet Tom had

been tested so much in his short life. Would another test push him

past all endurance? Chakotay felt impotent to help his beloved. Yet

he was the one putting Tom to this test. Albeit at the instruction

of his guide. Should he wait?

Chakotay savagely repressed his doubts. Tom was a survivor, this

would help cleanse his spirit of the anger and hatred that it held on

to. It would free him to grow, to become so much more.

Chakotay lifted the bucket and returned to the lodge. He reentered

the small structure and sat the water close to the fire. He put a

bone ladle into the bucket. It would be used later.

Chakotay heard footsteps outside of the sweat lodge. The flap opened

and the handsome face of his husband was staring at him. Tom was

smiling.

"Hello handsome."

"Come inside, baby."

"Wow, it's hot in here."

"It will get much hotter. The heat and steam is to cleanse your body

and spirit so that you may enter the spirit realm as an innocent."

"I won't be using the akoonah?"

"No that will come later, the first quest must be done using the old

ways."

"What happens?"

"The steam and heat will cleanse the body, causing you to sweat.

This will result in dehydration. I will monitor you making sure that

you do not fall into a critical state. If that occurs I will remove

you from the lodge and begin to revive you as well as replenishing

your body's fluids."

"And if I don't become critical?"

"Your spirit will drift and you will enter the spirit world. There

you will speak to the first animal that you encounter. He or she

must be addressed as either Grandfather, or Grandmother. Once you

have met your guide he or she will begin your first lesson."

"What can I expect?"

"I can not tell you. Each person must learn something different.

Also to warn is it inhibit. Remember my love, keep you mind open.

Your spirit is strong this will make you stronger. Are you ready to

begin?"

Tom nodded. Chakotay motioned for the blonde man to take a position

on a pallet near the fire. Tom allowed his body to rest heavily on

the material.

Chakotay opened a tricorder, setting it to the silent scanning mode.

When he was satisfied with its placement he ladled a tiny amount of

water on the stone set above the fire. The water hissed and sizzled

as the heat caused its evaporation. As the Indian slowly continued

to ladle the water the air became thick with steam.

Tom felt the sweat pouring off his body, he found that the increased

humidity made breathing a chore.

Chakotay lifted a drum and began to beat a slow rhythm. Each beat of

the drum seemed to penetrate Tom's very soul. The chants began soon

after. Tom found himself beginning to drift.

He was sure what he expected, however he was not a disembodied

spirit, he seemed to have his body with him, however he was

transparent.

As he drifted he became aware of currents. His spirit body became

entangled in on of the currents. Tom a proficient swimmer allowed

his instincts to take over. He did not struggle, he allowed his body

to be tossed and controlled by the current. Finally he came to rest

on solid ground.

Tom rose to his feet. He remembered the instructions that Tay had

given to him. He began looking for any sign of an animal. After

minutes of searching, Tom called.

"Hello? I was sent to find a guide. Is anyone here?"

Tom was answered by a bird call from overhead. Looking up Tom saw a

falcon winging it's way to him.

The falcon circled him once, twice, a third time. Finally the

majestic bird landed on a nearby tree branch.

*Welcome at last little one.* It was a distinctly feminine voice

that spoke not aloud, but inside Tom's head.

"Thank you, Grandmother. I have come to learn what wisdom you see

fit to offer."

*Very good my child you take to our ways as though born to them.

Chakotay did not give you the traditional words, yet you found them

within yourself. Let us begin, through these woods you will find a

small deserted cabin north of here. You must enter the cabin.

Inside you must face what you fear most.*

"Which is?"

*Only you know for certain, there is a great darkness that you hold

in your heart, it chains your spirit. You must face those events,

all aspects will be shown to you. You can not be hurt by what you

see. You will only be observing. Watch what occurs, see if the

guilt and self hatred that you have carried all these years is truly

your burden to bear.*

"I will do as you have instructed, Grandmother."

*I will await you at the exit of the cabin.*

With those words the falcon spread her wings and flew away.

Tom took his bearings, using the moss growing on a nearby tree. He

set off north.

He had been walking what seemed like nearly an hour when he came to

the decrepit cabin. It was nothing like the one he and Tay were

staying in. This structure was simply a small box made of huge logs,

most of which showed signs of rot.

Tom took a deep breath, steeling himself and opened the door. Inside

the cabin was completely bare. Tom moved further in. The door swung

shut behind him.

"Great, now what?"

As if on cue, the bare cabin began to take on a new form. It was

familiar to him. He was back home in his old room. His father was

sitting on the bed holding a blonde toddler in his lap. The young

version of his father was reading from a book of fairy tales. It was

obvious that he cared deeply for the child, the love was almost a

tangible force in the room. Tom had forgotten ever being that close

to the man.

The scene changed, it showed Owen Paris several years older by the

look of him. He was dressed in the ragged remains of a Starfleet

Uniform. He looked half starved and nearly mad.

His jailor stood over him, holding a wicked looking instrument. It

resembled a cat-of-nine-tails, each tail ending in a metal barb. The

cardassian struck the man's exposed back raking deep gashes into the

already damaged back. Owen made no sound, he was beyond pain.

Tom cried out for the Cardie to stop the assault on his father. His

words were not heard. On and on the torture went, until at last,

mercifully, the prisoner was rendered unconscious.

Again the scene shifted. Owen Paris was at Starfleet command. He

was recovering, there was physical as well as psychological damage.

The Cardassians were masters at both forms of torture. Tom overhead

the doctors speaking. It seemed that Owen had mentally held onto

Tom's memory. During the torture the Cardies had scanned his brain

and used the small boy against Captain Paris. The man would have a

long, rocky road to recovery.

The child could suffer repercussions from the tortured psyche. There

was talk of taking Tom from the Captain, for his own protection.

However, the idea was soon dropped.

*It wasn't really his fault, it certainly wasn't mine. Nevertheless,

Dad, why didn't you get the help you needed?* Tom felt a burden lift

from his spirit as the tears began to fall like rain from the blue

eyes. All the wasted years, because of the torture that his father

suffered at the hands of the Cardies. Perhaps Tom had known on some

level. He had been a Maquis officer and had killed several of the

reptiles. Still, no amount of revenge would ever undo the horrible

injustice that he had suffered at his father's hands.

Tom's mind began to settle down. The scene changed yet again. It

became the darkness of space. Tom recognized the spacescape. He was

seeing Caldrik Prime.

Tom watched as his ship pulled in low for a strafing run on an

asteroid. The ship came closer than normal to the huge chunk of

space debris, but not dangerously so. In fact there was plenty of

time for the next ship to pull out. The correction could have been

made.

The view changed, Tom was seeing inside his squadron mate's cockpit.

The man wasn't paying attention. Tom watched as the man looked up

just in time to see the asteroid looming ahead before he collided

into it. The first explosion was compounded as the third then fourth

shuttles impacted one after another into the asteroid.

Tom was stunned; the flight recorder had been destroyed on the second

shuttle; had been totally demolished. It had been impossible to

recover any data from the black box. If this was accurate, it would

have freed Tom from any guilt. With one exception. The lie. That

sin was Tom's alone.

The scene shifted, yet again. He was back at the home of his

parents. He saw his father standing in front of a computer

terminal. On the screen was Admiral Neguchie.

"Owen, I hate to be the one to tell you; Voyager has been lost.

There was no debris found. No survivors have been located."

"No escape pods?"

"Nothing has shown on long range scans. The Yorktown has been

dispatched. It doesn't look good."

Tears began to roll down Owen Paris' face. He reached a shaking hand

to close the connection.

As the screen darkened, Tom watched as the man whom he felt never

cared about him, fell to the floor. Despair was etched on his face.

"Tom! I'm sorry... Oh my God! What have I done to my own son?"

Tom saw his mother enter the room.

"Owen! What's happened? What's wrong?"

"I've killed our son!"

"Owen, don't be ridiculous!"

"I'm not, I contacted Kathryn Janeway. I told her that Tom had

knowledge of the Badlands. He wouldn't have been on Voyager if not

for me."

"What has happened to Voyager?"

"Lost! No survivors, no escape pods, no debris. Nothing!"

Tom's mother swallowed. She didn't speak as she moved to hold her

husband to her. Together they cried and begged God that it would be

a mistake."

Tom fell to his knees, his parents anguish tearing at his very soul.

Mercifully, the room reverted to the rundown cabin.

Tom took a minute to calm his wounded soul. He had never considered

his parents' feelings about his loss. He simply assumed that they

would be better off without him around. He would no longer be an

embarrassment to the Admiral. This new insight caused him to rethink

everything.

Finally, Tom rose to his feet and walked out of the cabin. He was

surprised to see that the sun had set.

The falcon called. She was sitting on a nearby perch. Tom moved to

stand before his animal guide.

*What have you learned, Tom?*

"That I have misjudged many in my life. I believed my father hated

me. But in fact he loved me as much as he knew how."

*Yes, continue.*

"When the accident at Caldrik Prime happened, I was so certain that

it was my fault. I believed that the board of inquiry would find me

guilty. They found me guilty of the cover-up. The lie, the

accident, weren't my fault. Not entirely, although I may have

contributed to it."

*Tom, my little one, you have suffered one ordeal after another.

These are not all of the demons that haunt your soul. You have

repeatedly been hurt or betrayed when you reached out for the love or

help you needed. The time for that is over, Tom. You must come to

terms with the past and let it go. Chakotay will never hurt you, he

will always be there to support you, unconditionally.*

"I know, Grandmother, I feel I don't deserve him."

*You don't, my child. But, then, who among us deserves love, we have

all failed. Love is a gift from the Son. When it enters your life

hold on to it tightly. Never let it go.*

"Thank you, Grandmother."

*Child, my name is Airazor. It is time for you to go. Chakotay is

getting worried. You have learned well. Come to see me again soon,

I have awaited this moment since the first breath you drew. I also

love you, my child.*

"I don't know what to say, except, of course, thank you."

*Take care of yourself, my child, and take care of that whelp you

call your husband.*

Airazor began to flap her wings, from the feathers a glittery dust

fell it surrounded Tom in a swirling cloud.

The next moment he was opening his eyes. He looked up into

Chakotay's dark eyes.

"Tom, I will get you out of here." Chakotay lifted the smaller man

and carried him outside of the sweat lodge.

Tom asked for water, barely able to get the word out.

"Not yet love. Let's replace your electrolytes and minerals first.

Then I'll give you a sip of juice."

Chakotay placed the hypospray to Tom's neck. He triggered the spray.

That should restore balance to Tom's system.

The Indian then lifted Tom's head to his lap. He placed a tube

between the dry lips and allowed a couple of small sips of orange

juice. That would restore the blood sugar.

"You hold that down. We're going inside. Let me put out the fire."

Chakotay ducked back into the lodge. Tom heard the sizzle of the

fire as Chakotay dashed the remaining water over the flames.

Chakotay carried Tom back into the cabin. He placed him on the sofa,

covering him with a blanket. Tom's body had been subjected to

extremes of humidity and heat. He was shivering in the normal

temperature of the ship.

"Tay, I..."

"Tom, anything you learned today was for you and only you."

"Love you." Tom finished.

"Rest now, Tom. Let me help you." Chakotay lifted Tom's upper body

and offered him a few sips of water. The big man repeated this every

few minutes.

"I feel much better, Tay. I can handle it myself now."

"I'll decide when you're recovered. The medic who treats himself has

a fool for a patient."

"Aye, sir."

"You rest now, Tom."

Evidently Chakotay had slipped him a "mickey". Tom found that he

couldn't keep his eyes open.

"Sleep, Tommy, I'm here. I'll take care of you Baby." Was the last

thing Tom remembered hearing as he drifted off to slumber land.

~*~

Tom awoke several hours later. The first thing he noticed was that

there was a heavenly smell in the room.

"Tay!" His voice had returned to normal. He noticed the micro-

needle in his arm. Evidently the big man was taking no chances.

The kitchen door open. Tom saw his mate. The man had changed into

cut off jeans and a t-shirt. The shirt was a snug fit, showing the

large nipples underneath.

"You sound much better, Love."

"I feel like I was hit by the delta flyer. What did you give me to

make me sleep?"

"This." Chakotay said as he lifted a tiny device from Tom's brow.

"A cortical sleep inducer! No wonder I feel so groggy!"

"I set it only to put your brain into a sleep pattern, then it shut

itself off. You slept as much as your body needed. Are you hungry?"

"Famished! I could eat a replicator."

Chakotay laughed, "that would be one way to get your daily iron

intake. I have something else in mind though."

Chakotay moved to help Tom but was motioned aside. Tom stood on his

own and walked into the kitchen. There the table was set with

candles and antique china.

Chakotay pulled out a chair and seated Tom, then began to place

silver domed dishes on the table.

"I took the liberty of checking your most regularly ordered meals in

the ships computer. Do you know that you primarily exist on tomato

soup? I decided that you needed something more filling."

Chakotay began lifting the domes. A wonderful smell began filling

the entire room.

"Tay, this is wonderful, but I thought that you were a vegetarian?"

"Sometimes, I indulge. With replicator technology it's not like

we're killing animals. I mainly abstain from meat because it affects

my sex drive. Until now, I couldn't afford to have it heightened."

Tom smiled broadly. He just decided to learn to cook. He was going

to feed this man meat at every meal.

They ate the meal in comfortable silence. When they had both eaten

their fill, Chakotay began to clear away the remains.

Tom yawned, he stretched his arms out until the sinews cracked.

"Tay, I think I'll go on up to bed."

Tom yawned, he stretched his arms out until the sinews cracked.

"Tay, I think I'll go on up to bed."

"Are you still tired?"

"The heavy meal after my vision quest I think."

"Go on, I'll be up soon."

Tom walked slowly out of the kitchen, once he made it to the stairs

he quickened his pace.

As the blonde man entered the bed room he began removing the robe he

had worn as part of the ritual. Tom folded it reverently then

placed it on the counter in the bathroom. He wasn't sure if Chakotay

would want it thrown into the 'fresher or hand washed.

Tom opened the cabinet and removed his cleanser unit. He quickly

used the device then stowed it away.

Tom moved over to the sonic shower recess and began the cycle. He'd

rather take a bath, but time was short. As the cycle ended Tom

practically leapt from the bathroom.

"Computer, substitute Altarian gel mattress for this one."

The mattress shimmered briefly.

"Computer, illuminate the bed with the light of a full moon, shining

through the skylight."

"This simulation contains no skylight."

"Add on."

The ceiling shifted and a bubble of transparent aluminum appeared.

The light of a full moon shone brightly on the bed.

"Computer, change the sheet to silver satin."

The sheets immediately became a shiny silver.

"Computer, replicate a pair of black silk lounging shorts and a thigh

length robe of the same material, size medium."

Tom grabbed the garment out of the air and quickly put them on.

"Computer, place an assortment of body paints and flavored oils on

the night stand. Also, an assortment of sex toys."

The order appeared, per Tom's request.

Tom arranged himself in the center of the mattress in a sexy

position. He wanted to make this a spectacular night for Chakotay.

"Tay! Are you coming up?"

"On my way."

His lover's footsteps sounded on the stairs. The door opened and

Chakotay stepped in. When he turned around he stopped dead in his

tracks. A sexy smile spread slowly across his face, showing those

dimples that Tom loved.

"I thought that you were tired?"

"No, I just wanted to surprise you."

"I love my surprise, I can't wait to unwrap it. Hold that thought."

Chakotay moved in the direction of the bathroom.

"Tay!"

"Need a shower, just take a minute. I smell like roast beef."

"I happen to like roast beef."

Chakotay didn't answer. Tom heard the unmistakable sound of an

internal cleanser as it finished it's cycle. The next sound was the

sonic shower. Within two minutes Chakotay was standing at the bed.

He plopped down on what he thought was a solid mattress.

It was a big mistake. The gel mattress began to wobble, the motion

sent Tom flying off the bed, his silk outfit sliding against the

satin sheets. Tom landed on the floor with a resounding THUMP!

Chakotay looked down, when he saw the look on Tom's face he lost it,

completely. The dark skinned man doubled over, laughing.

"This is not funny!"

"Tom! I'm sorry, but the look on your face! It's priceless!"

Chakotay rose from the bed and helped Tom up. The big man was still

chuckling. Tom was startled when the big brown paws jerked the

shorts off his narrow hips. Chakotay then removed the robe.

"Now you won't slide off." Chakotay said as he pushed Tom down on

the bed.

"Where were we?" Tom asked as he pulled his mate into his arms.

"Somewhere around here." Chakotay said then began to nibble along

the column of the long neck.

Tom's hands began to roam over the body of his lover. He pinched the

nipples hard enough to cause the man to inhale sharply. Tom soothed

them with his gentle tongue. As their foreplay became more intense,

hands and fingers caressed taut skin, legs intertwined, mouths

joined, tongues explored. Their needs bordered the primal. Words

were never spoken, all that needed to be said was conveyed in moans

of please, sensual touches and groans of pleasure.

The dark skinned man offered his body to his lover. The blonde-

haired person grabbed a container of oil and applied it to his

straining cock, then to the tight pucker between the firm mounds of

the Indian' s butt. Tom started to put a finger inside, to stretch

the opening. Chakotay stopped him, pulling the younger man up to

face him. There was lust and primal passion in those dark brown

pools. Chakotay wrapped his legs around the younger man' s waist,

pulling him forward.

Tom guided his shuttle into Chakotay's tight hangar. The man beneath

him thrashed as they merged bodies as well as souls. Tom began to

thrust, using a little twist to his hips to drive his mate into a

wanton frenzy. As Tom continued his movements he leaned down to

claim the mouth of his lover, just as he had claimed the body. Their

tongues warred in a heated frenzy. Chakotay's arms and legs pulling

the blonde godling deeper and still deeper into the most secret place

of his body. The place that belonged to Tom alone. It was his, to

do with as he would.

Their breathing became ragged as they rose and crashed, only to rise

again in the throes of passion. Higher and higher they flew, on

angel's wings. Higher still, until they reached heights that neither

of the lovers had ever achieved before. Chakotay and Tom were held

captive in each other' s gaze as they soared upon the thermals of

heaven.

Tom screamed out his lover's name as the world exploded, flashes of

gold, blue, and red assailed his eyes! Flames of passion licked at

every nerve, sending burning, searing, waves throughout his body!

Chakotay's usually soft voice was husky and deep as Chakotay

screamed the name of the love god that had propelled his mind and

body past any know sensation, to this nirvana!

Tom's body was awash in pleasure as his seed flowed from him to fill

the body of his lover. On and on, it seemed to last an eternity!

Chakotay felt Tom's seed fill him, searing those hidden places. He

saw the love in those twin pools of the bluest blue. His body

tingled down to the tips of his toes. He had cum on both of their

chests. Yet the waves of pleasure still broke over his body, sending

shudders of joy down to the very marrow of his bones.

Tom and Chakotay descended from the heaven on earth that they had

found. They had found in each other, the love of a lifetime, the

bonding of two souls, so completely that one could not tell where the

first ended and the second began.

Tom gasped and collapsed on the chest of the man he could never again

live without. He slipped from the tight body as Chakotay lowered his

legs. They did not sleep, merely held each other tightly as their

breathing slowed, their racing heartbeats slowed from a primal

drumming to a peaceful thrumming. Finally the two men, totally

satisfied, fell into a wonderfully blissful sleep.

~*~

Over the next five days the couple swam together in the nearby pond,

ate wonderful meals that Chakotay prepared, and slept. They made

love at the drop of a hat, any hat. Tom, in fact, always made sure

to keep his hat close by. Chakotay found that being with this man

had made him live again. Until now he had been content to just

survive, to get the ship and its precious crew as close to home as

possible in his lifetime. Now he cherished every moment, every

breath.

Tom flourished beneath the canopy of love and affection that the big

Indian covered him with. His spirit took on a lightness that it had

never had before. His pace had slowed, he was enjoying every second

of life. Before, he had always felt empty inside, Chakotay had

filled that void with the one thing that could fill it, he had filled

it with love, affection, a genuine caring, and understanding.

On their final day, the two men restored the program to its original

settings, with one exception. They left the hot tub. This would be

their place, their retreat. When the stresses of life on the ship

became too much to bear they would return here. This place, along

with their unconditional love for one another, would anchor them.

Tom and Chakotay had discussed at length what they would do once

Voyager again docked in the Alpha quadrant. They would return to

Dorvan V. If the Cardassians had destroyed the cabin, they would

rebuild it. It would be their home. They would live out their days

together under this roof.

"Privacy lock will disengage in 1 minute." The computer chimed.

They had packed up what items they wanted to keep from their

honeymoon, souvenirs of the most wonderful seven days of their

lives.

"I'll miss being here." Tom said wistfully.

"The cabin will always be here for us."

"Yes, but it won't be the same. We'll have brief snatches of time,

not like this week."

"As long as I have you, that's all that matters, Baby." Chakotay

said, and pulled Tom into his arms, kissing him deeply.

Just then the computer released the holodeck doors and they whooshed

back. Outside was a small crowd, Harry, Seven, B'Elanna, Kathryn,

even Naomi Wildman.

"See, I told you they wouldn't kill each other!" Naomi said with all

the tactlessness of a child.

Tom and Chakotay turned and were greeted by all their friends. Hugs

and kisses were exchanged. Tom noticed tears in Harry's eyes.

"What's wrong Har?"

"Nothing Tom, I'm just so happy to see you. I missed you while you

were away."

Tom heard the sentiment beneath the words. Harry had deeper feelings

for him than he had realized. Tom knew that there was someone on

board for his young friend. When the time was right, they would find

each other. That person would be lucky, Harry loved deeply and

selflessly. Tom laid a hand on the younger man's shoulder.

"Harry, no matter what, you're my best friend." Tom hoped that would

be enough for the young man. Evidently it was, Harry's face

brightened as that innocent smile spread across his face.

"You're mine, too, Tom. I'd better get to the bridge. My shift

starts soon."

"See ya later, buddy."

"Later Tom."

Tom noticed that Chakotay was speaking with Kathryn, their

conversation was remarkably similar to the one he had just had with

Harry.

Kathryn and Chakotay moved to include Tom in their conversation.

"Tom, you look wonderful. I hope that you're ready to resume your

duties. Voyager has missed her chief pilot."

"I doubt that I was missed that badly. But, yes, I am eager to get

back to work."

"I was telling Chakotay that the anomaly we had detected before your

accident has turned out to be a reoccurring phenomenon. Ensign Kim's

probe has been sent through and it shows that this shortcut will take

ten years off the journey home."

"So, when should I be ready to take the Delta flyer through?"

"The wormhole opens every 16 hours. We're in the middle of a cycle

right now. Be ready in 12 hours to reconnoiter. Until then, you and

Chakotay are still off duty. Take some time and get settled in.

Your new quarters are ready."

"We'll do that."

"Kathryn, I would like permission to co-pilot the mission through the

wormhole."

"Chakotay, you're needed here. I can't risk the ship's first officer

on every away mission. Besides I'm certain that this is just a walk

in the park for the best pilot in the Delta Quadrant."

"I'll be fine, Love. Please don't worry."

"I'll let you two get settled." Kathryn said then excused herself.

~*~

Chakotay accompanied Tom to his old quarters. They were surprised to

see that most of Tom's belongings had been packed. They heard a

noise in the bedroom.

"Who's here?" Tom called.

"Tom! It's Neelix. I thought that I would lend a hand."

"Neelix? How did you get in here?"

The little Talaxian entered the room, a puzzled expression on his

face.

"Captain Janeway let me in. She said that you would probably

appreciate the help. Tom, I'm sorry if I intruded."

"No, Neelix, don't be sorry, my friend. She's right. We have little

enough time before I have to investigate that wormhole."

"So, you're not angry with me?"

"Of course Tom's not angry. You're just doing your job as morale

officer." We both appreciate your help.

"I'm just happy to be of service."

"Well then, Tay, you and I can start moving the boxes. Neelix, would

you mind packing while we do that?"

"Not at all. I'll just get back to work." The colorful alien almost

floated back into the bedroom.

"Tom, I'll get a couple of anti-grav carts to make moving your stuff

a bit easier."

"Alright. I'll just make sure Neelix hasn't missed anything while

you're getting the carts."

Chakotay kissed his husband gently.

"Everything is going to be wonderful, Tom. Just you wait and see."

Chakotay left to find the anti-grav carts.

Tom looked around at his quarters. This had been his home for the

past seven years. He felt as if he had just become lost again.

"Tom, you look like you've just lost your best friend."

"I almost feel like it, Neelix. You know, this has been my home for

so long. Now everything is changing so fast."

"Tom you're not regretting the marriage are you?"

"No, not for a second. Tay is the best thing that's ever happened to

me. I just didn't think I would regret moving out of these quarters."

"You have to remember something my friend. This has been your home.

That is changing, but the memories of this place will always be with

you, they're a part of you and always will be. However, you and

Chakotay will be building a new home. I don't mean the physical

structure, I mean the emotional structure. You and he will have a

lot of work, but there's a lot of fun in your future as well.

Believe me Tom, I know what I'm talking about. I lost my entire

world."

"So did we, in a matter of speaking."

"Tom you and the crew can go home. It's taking a tremendous effort

to get there, but at least you can go home. My world is lost to me.

Even though it's right around the galactic corner from here. It

might as well be a trillion light years away."

"Thank you, Neelix."

"For what, Tom?"

"For making me see that I'm a fortunate person. I always seem to

forget that."

"Any time, Tom."

Neelix hugged the blonde pilot briefly then hurried from the room.

Tom noticed the pearly tears forming in the little man's eyes.

Tom began checking the storage cabinets and drawers in the rooms that

had already been packed. He found that Neelix had been thorough, as

usual.

As Tom checked the boxes, he noticed that the contents of each were

listed on a Padd. Everything was listed down to the most trivial of

items.

"Neelix, you're incredible!"

"What?"

"The way you've packed everything. The listings you've compiled,

everything is so organized."

"I'm glad that you're pleased."

"I'm more than pleased, I'm grateful. Thank you."

"I'm just glad that I could help. Now if you need help unpacking

just let me know."

"I think Tay and I can handle that alright. There is one thing."

"Name it my friend."

"Are you still planning to teach that cooking course?"

"Yes, it is scheduled for next month."

"I'd like to sign up."

"Ah, you want to be able to wow the husband?"

"Something like that."

"I take it you'll specialize in vegetarian meals?"

"No meat, lots of meat."

"The commander is a vegetarian Tom."

"He and I have discussed the reasons, and I assure you he now will be

eating his share of protein."

"If you say so."

Chakotay chose that moment to reappear. He guided the carts into the

room.

"Did you miss me, Poocuh?"

"Always. It's almost time for lunch, should we eat here before we

move?"

"Sounds good to me. Order me a hamburger, fries and a uttaberry

shake."

The little Talaxian looked like he would faint.

Tom ordered their meal from the small replicator in the corner of the

room.

"Would you care for anything Neelix? It's on me."

"I believe I'd like one of those uttaberry shakes. It looks very

refreshing."

Tom added the item to the order. The trio seated themselves and

began to eat.

Neelix began to drink the creamy confection. He had obviously never

eaten ice cream.

"Ouch! My head!"

"What's wrong Neelix?"

"Tay, I think he has an ice cream headache. Neelix, touch your

tongue to the roof of your mouth. The warmth should help alleviate

the pain."

Neelix did as the young man instructed him. In a matter of minutes

the pain had passed.

"Feeling better, buddy?"

"Much, what caused that?"

"When you're eating extremely cold food you have to go slowly,

otherwise you get a headache. I'm not sure why exactly, it's just

one of those things that we humans learn early."

"I see. So I can finish this, without a relapse?"

"Just drink it slowly, you'll be fine."

Neelix began to take cautious sips from the cold treat.

Tom and Chakotay just stared deeply into each other's eyes as they

finished their meal.

Once Tom had recycled the remains, he and his spouse began to load

the carts with the boxes. There was ample room for the entire

contents of the suite of rooms. All of the furniture would be left

for whomever took over the quarters.

"Well, this is it." Tom said as he exited the place he had called

home for so long.

"Any regrets, Love?"

"No, I don't regret anything. Come on, let's go home."

The two men guided the carts along the corridor. It wasn't far to

the Executive Officer's Quarters. When they arrived Chakotay entered

the programming code into the door mechanism. He motioned for Tom to

enter his own access code.

The blonde tapped out the same code he had used in his old quarters.

"Enter voice authorization."

"Paris gamma one nine delta."

"Coding completed. Welcome home Mr. Paris-Chakotay."

Tom turned and smiled at his mate. Obviously, the Captain had

updated their personnel files.

Tom and Chakotay entered the room. Both men were stunned at what

they saw.

"Tom? Do you see what I see?"

"I wasn't sure if I was hallucinating or not."

"You're not!"

The suite had been expanded as promised by the Captain. However, they

noticed that adjoining sets of quarters on each side had been added

to this suite of rooms. The walls had been painted. Everything

looked fresh and new. The carpet underfoot had a new smell to it.

"Tom this isn't my furniture."

"Tay, here's a message." Tom handed the big guy a Padd that had been

lying on an end table.

Chakotay read the note.

"Commander, please forgive me if I have been presumptuous. However,

I believe that you cannot live comfortably with a double bed, a

battered table, and a worn out sofa. I ordered this set of quarters

be completely refurbished, including the furniture. If anything is

not to your taste, please let me know. We'll correct any oversights,

Your friend, and Captain. Kathryn Janeway."

"Tay, what in hell are we going to do with all this room?"

"Make babies to fill it?"

"I don't think that will work. Neither one of us is built properly

for that."

"We have a saying on Dorvan V, Never look a gift horse in the mouth,

you might be bitten."

"In other words, be grateful and shut up."

"Consider it an order, Lieutenant."

"Aye Sir!"

"Now we still have several hours before you have to investigate that

damn worm hole. You're going to get some sleep. But first, I am

going to have my way with you."

"Oh sir, unhand me!"

"Never!"

Chakotay nearly dragged Tom into the bedroom. Another surprise

awaited them.

"Oh NO!"

"An Alterian gel bed. Looks like neither one of us will wear silk to

bed, ever."

With that, the big man gently began to strip off the clothing his

lover was wearing. Once the blonde stood there, his body bare,

Chakotay gently lifted him and laid him on the quivering mattress.

They made love slowly, taking their time to thoroughly enjoy each

other. When they were done, Chakotay set the alarm, and the two men

drifted off to sleep.

~*~

Chakotay was jolted awake by the alarm. His arm immediately felt

Tom's side of the bed. It was empty. Chakotay almost wept. Had it

all been a dream?

Just then a sound caught his ear. The sonic shower was ending its

cycle.

"Tom! Are you in there?"

"Yeah, I'm still here."

Tom stepped out of the bathroom, he was still nude from the shower.

His skin rosy from the ionic cascade.

"I didn't think you'd be up so soon."

"Usually when I have a mission I wake before the alarm. It's like my

body has its own built in clock. My mom always said that I conserve

my resources. If there's nothing really critical, I could sleep the

clock around, but if something is going on, I'll jump out of bed,

bursting with energy."

"I woke up and got scared. I thought I dreamed everything."

Chakotay's voice cracked with emotion.

Tom moved to hold his mate. He was surprised to find that the big

man was shaking.

"Tay, it's no dream. I'm here."

"Tom, this mission has me scared, we're just starting out together.

What if..."

"Tay, everything is going to be fine. I'll shoot through the

wormhole, take a few scans along the way, and then zip back through.

I'll be home in time for dinner. After all, I have a reason to make

it back now."

"I love you, Tom."

"I love you, Tay." Tom kissed the trembling lips gently. He offered

all of his support to his soul mate.

"I had better get dressed. I'll be on the bridge monitoring your

progress."

"I need to go the shuttle bay, I trust B'Elanna but I want to check

the Flyer over before the mission."

Tom turned to leave the room. Chakotay called out to him.

"Tom!"

"Yes, Love?"

"Be safe."

"Every day, in every way."

Tom left their quarters and boarded the turbolift.

"Deck 10." The lift began its controlled plummet. As it approached

the specified deck it's inertial dampers engaged to protect the rider

as it came to a screeching halt.

Tom disembarked from the lift and quickly walked to the shuttle bay.

Inside Harry and B'Elanna met him.

"So, how's married life, Tom?" B'Elanna asked.

"Wonderful!" Tom answered sincerely.

"Will you be able to sit down long enough for this mission?" Harry

asked with a deadpan look.

"Harry Kim! You should be ashamed of yourself."

"Tom, I was just concerned about your, ahh, comfort."

"For your information, my comfort feels just fine. Nevertheless,

thanks for caring, Harry. If you'll excuse me I need to start my

preflight."

As Tom moved into the Delta Flyer, B'Elanna spun on the young ensign.

"What in the hell was that about? Tom's insecure enough without you

making that type of remark."

"What are you talking about?"

"Starfleet, I thought I knew you, but what I just saw, well let's

just say that I'd never have thought that sweet Harry Kim could be

such a bigot."

"Maquis, I am not a bigot! Oh, you don't understand!"

"Oh, don't I? I know along with the rest of the ship that you are in

love with Tom. Guess what? So am I. Too bad he didn't feel that

way about either of us. I want him to be happy, I love him that

much. As long as Tom's happy then that's all that matters. Hasn't

he suffered enough?"

Harry dropped his gaze. He felt like a total jerk.

"You're right." He whispered softly.

"Harry, be happy for Tom. I know it hurts but believe me you will

find someone. Someone who will care about you just as much as you

will for them."

"When B'Elanna? I'm so lonely! Seven years we've been in the Delta

Quad and, oh hell what's the use?"

"Pull yourself together, Starfleet. Come on, let's help Tom with the

preflight."

Harry and B'Elanna both entered into the Delta Flyer, Tom was in the

middle of his preflight.

"Tom, about what I said outside, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it."

"Don't worry about it Harry. I know that this is difficult for you.

I'm just sorry that I didn't have the same feelings for you that you

obviously had for me."

"Is `I'm in love with Tom Paris' tattooed on my forehead?"

"You were almost that obvious. You're a great guy Harry, I just hope

we can stay friends."

"Of course we're friends, best friends. Now give me that Padd and

I'll check off as you verify the systems. B'Elanna, would you mind?"

"Already ahead of you Starfleet, I'll check the engineering systems."

The trio of friends completed the systems check in record time. When

they had double checked the inertial dampers and life support Tom

contacted the bridge.

"Paris to Captain Janeway."

"Yes Lt. Paris?"

"Captain, the Delta Flyer checks out. I'm ready to proceed."

"Whenever you're ready my Mr. Paris. Janeway out."

"Let's go, Harry, Tom has to earn his rations for a change."

"Tom, we'll be monitoring you on sensors."

"That won't do a lot of good once I enter the wormhole. See you in a

few hours."

The Klingon and human watched from the deck of the shuttle bay as the

specialized shuttle launched. It made it's way through the safety

force field.

Tom set his course to enter the wormhole. He commed Voyager.

"Delta Flyer to Voyager."

"Voyager here," Janeway answered.

"I will enter the wormhole in approximately 3 minutes."

"Very good. Tom we will lose the ability to track you using sensors

as soon as you enter the wormhole. Keep an open comm channel.

You'll be able to relay telemetry as well as keep in communication

with us."

"Understood Captain."

"Very good. Carry on, Lieutenant."

"Aye, ma'am."

Tom's combadge chirped. He tapped it, opening the incoming channel.

"Tom." The voice belonged to his mate. The tones conveyed a world

of worry as well as a directive to return.

"I understand." It was all the response that Tom could make without

alerting the Captain of Chakotay's breach of protocol.

Tom took a deep breath and braced himself as he entered the mouth of

the wormhole.

"Voyager, I am entering the anomaly now."

The Flyer was bouncing around as it continued it's forward progress.

"Mr. Paris, you have just dropped from our sensors. Please keep us

apprised of your status."

"Understood. Transmitting telemetry data bursts. So far, so good;

structural integrity within normal tolerances. I should be exiting

the wormhole in 1 minute 45 seconds."

"Tom, keep it short and sweet. Do the preprogrammed scans and get

back to the ship. Understood?"

"Aye, Captain."

Tom began counting the seconds until he would be out of the subspace

structure. It would be soon enough for him. He hated these things.

"Voyager, I am not exiting the wormhole. Delta Flyer all stop.

Initiating scans. Position has been computed, 10,000 light-years

closer to the Alpha Quadrant.

There was nothing else to do but sit back and wait for the computer

to complete its work. It would take about 20 minutes for the long

range sensors to sample the surrounding space to the limits of their

range. As soon as that was complete he would be able to return home.

Tom stood and walked to the replicator onboard.

"Computer, Tomato soup, plain and hot in a mug."

The replicator provided the specified item with its usual

efficiency. Tom lifted the mug and returned to his seat.

He grabbed his Padd and began to read over a historical text about

the tribal nations of Dorvan V, Chakotay had suggested that he read

up on his new culture.

Tom had become engrossed in the text to the point that he almost

missed the chime as the final sweeps of the scans were completed. He

disposed of the mug and stowed his Padd.

"Voyager, scans are complete I am returning home."

"Good, I'll see you on the bridge."

Tom reversed his course and reentered the wormhole. He was in such a

hurry to get back that he didn't notice that the structure had

changed, the walls of the passage had narrowed considerably.

Tom was pitched forward as the Delta Flyer became wedged in between

the walls of the wormhole.

"Voyager, I have a problem. The wormhole is on the verge of a

collapse."

"Stay on the other side. It should reopen in 13 hours."

"Too late, I'm stuck inside. The walls are constricting and I can

neither get through, nor back out. Stress on hull is becoming

increasingly great. I'm routing auxiliary power to the structural

integrity field, reinforcing shields. That's bought me a little time

but it doesn't look good."

"Tom, Seven has suggested we reconfigure the deflector to emit an

anti… What?.. Never mind! It appears you have a rescuer on the way."

"What?"

"Chakotay has just launched in another shuttle."

Tom slapped his combadge, "Paris to Chakotay. What the hell are you

doing?"

"Is that any way to address your XO?"

"I'm addressing my husband. Stay out of here, the whole damn thing

is going to collapse!"

"Not with you in there, it isn't. You have a transporter enhancer

onboard; set it up. I'm going to come in as closely as possible,

then beam you aboard."

"The Flyer!"

"Can be replaced, Mr. Paris." Janeway answered, "Or, if Seven's idea

works, you and Mr. Chakotay can tractor it back. This way, at least

you aren't in a life or death situation if it doesn't work"

"Understood."

"Tom, you ready to blow this joint?"

"Almost there. Transporter enhancers online."

"Energizing."

Tom felt the welcome sensation of a transporter effect. The next

moment he was onboard the Commander's shuttle.

"Lets get outta here." The blonde said jumping into the copilot's

chair.

"My thoughts exactly." Chakotay's hands flew over the panel and the

shuttle ripped its way out of the wormhole.

"Chakotay to Seven of Nine."

"Yes, Commander?"

"Seven, we are clear of the wormhole."

"Initiating anti-graviton pulse."

The effect was instantaneous. It was the opposite of what the ex-

drone expected. The wormhole snapped shut.

"My Flyer!" Tom yelped, as the anomaly popped out of existence.

On the bridge Janeway swallowed, if she had given the order to try

the pulse without getting Tom off the Flyer he would be very dead.

There was a burst of light in her peripheral vision.

"Aunt Kathy?"

"Junior, this isn't a good time."

"I was watching. I think it is."

The teenaged super being waved his hand and the wormhole reopened.

"Tom and Chakotay's shuttle, as well as the flyer, have just appeared

in the shuttle bay, Captain." Tuvok informed Janeway.

"I'll hold it open, hurry and get Voyager through. I may not be

allowed to send you home but I can help this much."

"Thank you Junior."

Janeway took the helm herself.

"Mr. Kim, reinforce structural integrity field and shields we're

going in."

"Aye Captain, ready when you are."

Janeway took Voyager into the wormhole. Within a couple of minutes

they had traveled 50,000 light-years closer to home.

"Aunt Cathy, I have to get back now. Dad thinks I'm..."

There was another flash, Q popped into existence. "I know exactly

where you are Junior, good work! Now, come on, before you get both

of us in trouble."

The pair of Q's disappeared.

"Thank you." Janeway said to thin air.

"Lieutenant Ayla, please take the helm and set a course for home."

Ayla took the seat and quickly entered the navigational coordinates.

"Course laid in, Captain."

"Engage. Warp factor 8."

Voyager began speeding along the new course.

"Have Misters Paris report to my ready room. Tuvok you have the

bridge."

"Aye Captain."

~*~

Tom and Chakotay arrived on the bridge just moments after the Captain

had entered her Ready Room.

"What's our status?" Chakotay asked.

"We have passed through the wormhole and are continuing our course

for home."

"How?" Tom asked, awed.

"I believe the Captain will answer all your questions. She is waiting

for you in her Ready Room."

The two men straightened and strode to the closed door. It opened at

their approach and they entered.

Janeway was sitting on the sofa, staring out at the stars.

"Chakotay, you disobeyed orders by taking a shuttle into that

wormhole and rescuing Tom."

"Yes Captain."

"Thank you for doing so, I don't think I could live with myself if

anything had happened to him. However, it stands to reason that you

broke the chain of command and must be punished you are restricted to

quarters for the next 5 days."

"I understand."

"Mr. Paris you also are restricted to quarters. You should have

realized that the canal of the anomaly had narrowed."

"Yes, Captain. Permission to speak candidly?"

"Granted."

"What just happened? We saw that thing snap shut, next thing we knew,

both the Flyer and the shuttle were in the shuttle bay, safe and

sound. Then Tuvok tells us that Voyager has gone through the

wormhole."

"One word Misters. Paris....Junior."

"Junior?"

"It seems that we have a guardian Q. He reopened the wormhole and

returned the Flyer. He also allowed me to take the ship through."

"Why didn't he just send us home?"

"I don't know, but from what he said, evidently the Continuum is not

allowing him to nor is his father, for that matter. Now, I

restricted you two to quarters, I amend that. I am barring you both

from the bridge for 5 days, and you have all privileges intact. Make

the most of the time off."

"Captain, we just had our..."

"That's an order!"

"Yes Ma'am!"

"Dismissed. Oh, a word of warning. With a Q watching, you two might

want to be careful. We wouldn't want either one of you coming up

pregnant now would we?"

"He wouldn't!"

A flash of light appeared.

"Wouldn't I?" Junior said with a smile.

The end.
