The Rage of Paths

Cornelius:
What once was one, now twice, now thrice
Before thee, a forking road
Take heed my son, directions lie
My words pray listen, the paths of old

Samhain:
Errant time, thine paths are moot
for roads lead no more to cities nigh
See here I hold the map to where
our fortune holds... and yours goodbye

Cornelius:
Fool not am I!! Thou art but a knave
a weak one bent to test
Now listen, thou errant slave
Cornelius knows best

Thou pointeth at roads leading to own demise
Sunlit paths, take my advice
Leave not I, boy, I am thine guide
From mine ranks thou shalt not say goodbye!

Samhain:
Cornelius, old fool, thine eyes are weak
and rheumy gnaws at infested knee
I shalt not leave thy sorry side!
Listen, old fool, I am thine guide!!

For youth doth flow in these spry limbs
nor memories adle this fine young brain
The path is clear, the dark we go
I promise a city by morrow!

Cornelius:
Pah! Lad, foolishly speaks thus
Folly! Errant folly!
Thy road leading to no return I say!

Samhain:
Old adled fool, thou dare not trust
and where dost thy road turn?
Robbers there
Everywhere!
I harken to cover the moon!

Cornelius:
Thou art folly!

Samhain:
And thou art blind!

Cornelius:
This road I tell thee!

Samhain:
I'll leave thee behind!

Cornelius:                                                            Samhain:
Thou art blind, impulsive minx!                             I have no time for mockery!
I take thee out of foul hijinx                                  Why dost thou not listen to me?
thy path leads to doom I say                                 I may be young but yet I know
Snakes hide past the bright of day!                       The roads I fare is safe to go!

And thou shalt be led to forlorn                           And sunlit paths I must impress
for thine young age, I hold much scorn                 far from it, let us not digress
Thou knowest not the dangers there                    why dost thou not trust in me?
behind the darkness of forest air                           I lead the path to set thee free

For I am Time, Experience owing                        Yes I am Change, and Wit and Life
I see behind, what lies in there                              I see through thine time and strife
How can thee, white hair not owning                    must thou now insist our own death?
leave behind a wise man's care?                           Thou reacheth not a coffin bed!

Cornelius:
And would thou stumble in the dark?

Samhain:
And would thee falter in the sun?

Cornelius:
Death awaits thine shadowed path

Samhain:
And sunny path now bandits' run

Cornelius and Samhain:
And where this lies, I guarantee
a fool thou art, Listen to me!

Samhain:
Listen to me!

Cornelius:
No, listen to ME!

Cornelius and Samhain:
Death stalks us in paths of shadow and sun

Cornelius:
The dirge begins!
I hear its notes on fallow winds

Samhain:
The churchbells toll!
Thou listened not to me at all!

Cornelius:
Take this road son see where it lies
Trouble dots your shadowed skies
Monsters lurk behind the trees
What will it take to listen to me?

Samhain:
And robbers hold most juvenile court
dost thou ask for Death's consort?
I know where the bright sun lies!!
At night retires to darkest skies!

Cornelius:
Woe young lad... woe'st me
Thou posseseth not my memory
I have walked through that path before
Believe it leads to Death's own door

Samhain:
But times have changed, the seasons spent
my path shall pass without event
Have thou cause for misery?
I fear my life is precious to me

Cornelius:                                                     Samhain:
And times have changed,                              And time is errant,
the seasons passed                                        you cannot last
again repeats at end of blast                          Fallout from the deadly ghast
Trust me! I know out of harm's way              Trust me! Trust the instinct of youth
this is the road we shall take today!               Follow me and I'll lead you through

Cornelius:                                                     Samhain:
You DEFY me!                                            You DENY me!

Cornelius:
I am tired, son, how the sun retires...
and seasons give way to change

Samhain:
and thou art old, my venerable father
and I respect thy wisdom of age

Cornelius and Samhain:
But upon us two battered roads lie
shall now give way to impartial sky

Cornelius:
So long Samhain I take this path

Samhain:
and I this one, Cornelius
and I this wrath

Cornelius and Samhain:
And now to see where our fortunes lie
I bid thee farewell

Cornelius:
My son...

Samhain:
My father...

Cornelius and Samhain:

Goodbye.
