Chapter 4....

Cloud and the man are now in front of the huge undead monster, staring at it straight into the eyes, while it stared back at them. Their main objective is to buy time for Aeris to activate whatever planet saving device that is hidden here. Killing it is secondary, but from what they see now, if they don't somehow stop it from crawling out of it's hole, they don't have the ability to stop it from pursueing Aeris.

All of a sudden, the monster made a swift move and with one of it's strong hand, the monster swing it across Cloud and the man, the two ducked into the air skillfully. But the monster has it's another arm casting a strong wind spell, and the spell knocked Cloud against while the man barely dodged it, but for the moment unable to react. With its two enemies temporarily out of the way, the monster pushed itself out of the hole, and skeleton like legs are seen stepping out of the hole.

"He is out loose!"

Cloud shouted out to the man and the man struggled to keep his battle form and immediately pursued the monster, and Cloud joined him momentarily after he recovered from his fall. But the monster seems to be able to get away in quite a high speed, in constrast to it's unstable looking body and huge size. The monster ran towards the direction Aeris ran towards to, and the two pursuer have to run with all their strength to keep up with the chase.

After a short time of chasing, the two pursuers finally catch up with the monster and the monster turn around and counter-attack with a strong ice spell, showering the two pursuers with huge needles of ice. The man cast a barrier of burning flame around him and while providing some cover to Cloud, Cloud charged up his sword with a red blaze of fire and dashed towards the monster, slashing it right between the legs and the body, sending the monster crashing down, immobilizing it. The monster gave out a loud cry, and crawled towards the direction Aeris ran to.

Cloud didn't wait for the monster to recover and quickly send another fatal blow to the monster. The monster this time countered the attack and Cloud dodged backwards, readying for another attack.

"Be careful. It's getting stronger the more we attack."

The man said and then he dashed away from Cloud, to the back of the monster where they can have a more strategic advantage. The monster immediately charge up another strong ice spell, intended to throw it at the man but was stopped by Cloud by slashing off the monster's spell casting arm. The monster seemed to be in great rage and as almost immediately, it's slashed-off body parts grew back like original and towered over the. This time it stopped it's pursue. It wants them dead. With a growl, it lunges it's huge body towards Cloud, knowing that the two couldn't kill him by fighting like this.

Aeris was panting the moment she reached the light the man pointed to her when they first entered this cave. She could now see clearly was the light source actually was. It was a huge green glowing crystal, emitting some form of faint energy, or to her...feels like voices. She started to hear voices in her heard that she couldn't comprehend, but knowing that a huge responsibility was placed on her shoulders, she kept her cool and try to figure out how this Ancient device was supposed to work.

"Welcome, fellow Ancient. I see that catastrophy is near..."

A comprehensible voice finally filled Aeris's head and she immediately replied that voice.

"The one that understands the tongue of the planet... how may I help you?"

The device answered Aeris in a machine like voice. This device looks like it was programmed to speak many Ancient languages and dialects. It seems to be designed to communicate only with Ancients, and no body else.

"The planet is now in grave danger! Please activate the planet's meteor defense spell, quickly!" Aeris said in a hurrying tone and the device went quiet for a moment. Then it spoke.

"Password?"

Aeris was shocked to hear this. She had no idea that a password is required. Her mind now started to cloud with panic and anxienty, begged the device to activate the spell, but the device denied her and asked her for the password again and again. Many words came pass her mind, Cetra, Ancients, Planet...she blurted out all sort of words but the the device still denied her. She started to become very frustrated.

"Why on earth you need a password? The Jenovians are attacking and you need a long lost password to save the planet?!"

The device became quiet the moment she said that. Something struck through her mind. Jenovians in Ancient language can only be...

"Jen Ho Va..." Aeris spoke clearly.

"The Jen Ho Va had came, as prophecied. It is only they, who can summon meteor, it is only they, this device is built against. Password accepted."

The device lost it's glow the moment it finished it's sentence. A loud roar was heard and Aeris realized that it was coming from the direction she came from. Quickly, she left the device and ran towards Cloud and the man. She had a feeling the monster was defeated.

The monster collapsed as if it was dead the moment the light source where Aeris was went off. Cloud and the man looked at the monster, dissolving into ice dust and being blown away by a wind from nowhere. This monster was guarding the device and will not stop until the device is activated. Unless the device is on, this monster is invulnerable. Probably some sort of very powerful Ancient summoning spell. Now that the monster was gone, Cloud and the man ran towards the direction where Aeris went, and met Aeris on the journey there.

"The device?" The man asked.

"I think I activated it. But the device went dead the moment I activated it."

The ground suddenly rumbled violent the moment Aeris said those words. The cave ceiling above seemed to be rather solid but there is no guarantee that it won't collapse. The man started to make his move and ran to the exit of the cave. Cloud and Aeris followed.

"I wonder. What sort of spell or mechanism could stop a cluster of meteors?" Cloud asked while running his way out.

A unique way. In a very unique way.

Outside of the cave, the ground was rumbling violently too but after some time the rumbling stopped. People around the world were afraid at first. The fear of a meteor already struck is in everybody's heart. At the same time, everybody on the planet looked towards the sky. The meteors are still visible but only hours away from impact. The little bit of hope seems to be dim, very dim.

Soldiers that look forward to battle were afraid that they have a chance to do that. Civilians who don't know what to do can only hope to see another sunrise. Old people gave up hope, small children frightened of the unknown future. The situation seems grave. It seems that holy might not be able to save them this time. How can they survive this?

It is at this gravest moment, the sky suddenly reflected everyone heart by becoming darker and darker. Darker? The coming of meteors should make the sky bright red, not dark! But it is happening! The sky seems to become darker and darker...

It is at this time, everybody felt like there was some kind of force going around them. The sea became uncalm and tides start to go wild. The force...it isn't some holy kind of force, it feels like something is pulling, pulling them gently towards the sky...

"Look!"

A child in Kalm pointed towards the edge of the sky. Everyone there looked at the sky and felt awe rushing into them. A dark round object was seen heading towards the meteor clusters, bringing darkness to those beneath it. The force that they were feeling became more and more intense as the object drew nearer towards them. Everyone just looked at the object in awe, not knowing what it is or what will happen.

"Pro...professor...!!!"

"What is it, can't you speak clearly?" A senior astronomy scientist in Cosmo Canyon scolded his apprentice. His apprentice just couldn't keep his mouth from shaking after looking through the telescope.

"The...the..."

"The Jenovian? The entered our atmosphere?" The senior scientist asked in a frightened manner. His apprentice finally kept his cool, and said out clearly,

"The moon! The moon is going out of it's track! It's heading..."

"...toward the meteors?"

Cid exclaimed the moment he saw the unbelievable sight in the sky. The moon is actually heading towards the meteors, and it seems that the force they are feeling is actually generated by the moon. The moon is going to collide with the meteors? The Ancients actually used the moon to act as a meteor defense mechanism?

Everyone watched as the moon headed towards the meteor faster and faster. Then the moment came. The moon was seen colliding with a meteor and an explosion was formed. The bright red glow of that meteor died down but the moon was still standing strong. The moon then headed right into the meteor cluster and collide with the other meteors, while some of the meteors that it missed seemed to be dragged by a gravity force so strong that they were forced to collide with the moon. In just a short time, the meteor cluster was gone. The bright red flame in the sky died down and the dark blue sky of nightfall was seen. The moon was now seen there standing strong, hovering and emitting a bright white glow of hope.

The first wave of the Jenovians...failed.
