Curtis - for $100,000:
Which of the following letters is NOT a Roman numeral?

C X
I E
L

Curtis picks E, Daniel confirms it, and they've won $100,000!

The $200,000 category is:  Movies
And they're going on!

But wait! Here's the Terminator!  And it's chosen Melissa!  Is she going to take the $10,000 to challenge?  She does -- and challenges James!

Challenge Question:
What company makes the Pentium III computer processor?  James buzzes in:  "Compaq."  But he's wrong, it was Intel!  So Melissa survives and has a guaranteed $10,000, and James leaves with nothing!

For $200,000:
Which four have won Academy Awards for Best Picture?

Melissa Silence of the Lambs Raging Bull
Jackie The Godfather The Godfather, Part II Curtis
  Star Wars Casablanca Daniel

They hold their freebie.

Is The Godfather correct?  Yes!
Is The Godfather, Part II correct?  Yes!
Is The Silence of the Lambs correct?   Yes!

Now, does Daniel want to take the out and split $20,000 four ways?  No.  So here we go....

Is Casablanca correct?   YES!

So we move on:

The $500,000 category is:  Popular Food
And they're going on, against the wishes of Curtis!

But wait! Here's the Terminator!  And it's chosen Melissa again!!!  Is s he going to take the $10,000 to challenge?  She refuses to do it again!

For $500,000:
What were the four top selling cheeses in 1998, according to the American Dairy Association?

FREEBIE Brie Cream Cheese Melissa
Jackie Cheddar Parmesan
  Port Wine Mozzarella Daniel
Curtis American

They use their freebie, eliminating Brie, which doesn't seem to help them.

Is American correct?  Yes!
Is Cheddar correct?  Yes!
Is Mozzarella correct?   Yes!

Now, does Daniel want to take the out and split $50,000 four ways?  No.  So here we go....

Is Cream Cheese correct?   YES!

So we move on:

The $1,000,000 category is:  Dead Celebrities
Nobody wants to go except Daniel, who says he feels the need for Greed!

But wait! Here's the Terminator!  And it's chosen Curtis this time!!!  Is he going to take the $10,000 to challenge?  He has decided to challenge and challenges Jackie, who is absolutely stunned that she is being challenged and asks "Why?"!

Challenge Question:
What American president was the inspiration behind the teddy bear?  Curtis buzzes in and says "Teddy Roosevelt."  He's right and wins the challenge and the $10,000, and Jackie is eliminated!

For $1,000,000:
Of these, which four died before reaching their 30th birthday?

Curtis James Dean Rudolph Valentino Daniel
Melissa Joan of Arc Janis Joplin Curtis (2)
Daniel Buddy Holly Harry Houdini
  Chris Farley Lou Gehrig

Daniel doesn't like his OWN answer, after some silent prodding by Curtis, and changes his own answer to Buddy Holly!

Is James Dean correct?  Yes!
Is Joan of Arc correct?  Yes!
Is Janis Joplin correct?   Yes!

The out has gotten interesting.  These players can choose to go for the million or take a 2000 Jaguar XK-8 Convertible and $25,000 cash!  Each player can make their own decision...so are they taking the car or playing for their share of the million?

Is Curtis going?  Of course he is!
Is Melissa going?  She feels she has to!
Is Daniel going?  Yes!

So, is Buddy Holly correct?   YES, and THEY'VE JUST WON ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!!

So we move on:

The $2,200,000 category is:  Odors
And again, with the big money comes a rule change:  the contestants can choose individually whether to go on or take the money and run.  This means one player can go on, or all three can go on, or they can all stop.

Curtis is playing for $880,000 + $10,000 from the challenge
Melissa is playing for $880,000 + $10,000 from the challenge
Daniel is playing for $440,000

Considering this is the biggest decision of their lives, it is a fair move to allow them to think about it until the next show, so they'll have some time to think about it -- and become celebrities!  (Yes the time filler was just plain wrong, but would you like to make a split second decision about hundreds of thousands of dollars?)  Tune in next week at 9/8 central for their decision!

Total winnings for Game 5 (so far):
Curtis:  $410,000 (including $10K for challenge)**
Melissa:  $410,000 (including $10K for challenge) **
Daniel:  $200,000
Jackie:  $0
James:  $0

** Curtis & Melissa are now tied for the second-largest non-lottery winners ever in prime time television (behind Michael Shutterly of WWTBAM in August 1999).

AND WE'RE OUT OF TIME!  Watch for Greed next Thursday, November 18, on your local Fox station!
