While waiting, I've been watching all the soldiers patroling around the airport terminal. They have weapons and they're supposed to protect people, but they end up giving everyone directions.
When we boarded the plane, it looked just like the one I was on two months ago. I got a window seat. It was really neat watching all the cars and houses down below. They were very tiny. Some of the canyons we flew over were also nice. There were a lot of rocks and the canyons looked like mountains hollowed out downwards. It looked as if it would be fun to run around those canyons and sun on one or two ledges.
After a somewhat bumpy flight -- birds must have it rough -- we landed at another airport. McCarran International Airport is a big place, but doesn't have a big tent-like roof like Denver International Airport does. As soon as we got off the plane, I saw people sitting at some really noisy machines, putting money in them. Max called them slot machines. We passed by them on the way to get our bags, which the humans put their travel stuff in. My travel stuff was in my backpack with me.
After checking in we all went out to look for a place to eat. We tried the Hard Rock Cafe, but they had a private party that night, so we at at a place called "Mr. Lucky's", which was one of their smaller restaurants. Mr. Lucky had good food, but he didn't get lucky with his servers. They were very slow. When dinner was over, we stopped at the Hard Rock Casino's Players Club and registered to gamble. Max's grandma turned out to be a high roller on those noisy machines. My grandma never gambled! She was very happy and managed to keep her losses down. We then walked mom and grandma back to Terrible's. Along the way we ran across my friend Carlo, who's been helping with my graphics and web site. We agreed to meet with him the following day for lunch and sightseeing.
Our next stop was The Mirage. They have a cat garden with large striped cats here. They look like Sandy the White-Bellied Cat, but much, much bigger. Although, they're just as lazy. There is also a big garden in the lobby and out front is a volcano. I've never seen one of those before. At night, every fifteen minutes, the volcano rumbles and shoots water, light and fire into the sky. It's a lot of fun to watch.
Ultimately the evening and the night turned into a dizzying rush of blinking lights and noises. We visited Casino Royale, Harrah's, The Flamingo and Barbary Coast before the night was over. I was one tired marmot coming home after a night on the town!
