Today was a busy day. In the morning Max, Jenn, Debby, David, Riker Bear and I went to a bridal show in Denver. It was a very busy place and there were a lot of people attending. The humans tasted a lot of food from vendors and entered lots of contests. Jenn ended up winning a night for two in Estes Park! That's near my old home and I'd just love to go for a visit. I sure hope she takes me along!
There was a fashion show, too, with men and women dressing up in various clothes. They wore suits and dresses and then changed into some really colorful and strange looking outfits called "recreational wear". They even wore some small pieces of cloth that they called swimsuits. I may be just a marmot, but that sounds very silly to me!
After the show we went to a movie. This time we saw "The Count of Monte Cristo". It's about a guy who has a not-so-nice friend who said he did something bad. That got the hero sent to a jail, which is a burrow that required keys to get out of, for a really long time. After a long time in jail the man meets another prisoner, an old man, who was trying to dig his way out. Then they decide to dig together to get out of prison. As an aside, being a marmot and a professional burrow builder, I have to say these guys are not very good at what they were doing. I can have a ten room burrow with extra long corridors ready to go in one season. After a few more years the old man dies and the hero uses this as an opportunity to sneak out.
The rest of the movie is about the hero getting a lot of money and getting revenge on all the people who wronged him when he was younger. It was a fun movie and I got to see it with my friend Riker Bear, which ws also a nice change.
After the movie we tried to eat at a place called Dave and Buster's. The bouncer at the door was unfriendly and the hosts told us we'd have to wait 45 minutes to be seated. None of us wanted to wait to eat, so we all headed to a place called The Black-Eyed Pea. While we waited for food, we got rolls and cornbread and everyone went nuts eating this! When the food was finally served, hardly anyone had room to eat any more. I gues sI need to give the humans some pointers on how to eat a lot to store food away for winter.
Riker Bear and I supervised a game of Durak and after dinner was over everyone headed to their own burrows. It was a very long day.
