Distribution Day

Today was the Denver Dumb Friends League's Distribution Day to prepare for the Ninth Annual Furry Scurry. The Furry Scurry is when all the animals in Denver run through Washington Park to raise money for the DDFL. Today Jenn, Max, Audi, Deb and I drove around Denver delivering posters and sign-up forms for the race day.

Jenn, Max and I wound up together as one of the delivery teams. As chance would have it, one of our stops turned out to be at the Alameda East Veterinary Clinic to deliver a packet to Doctor Kevin Fitzgerald. This deserves special note because Max has known the Doctor for almost twenty years now. He is the family vet for both Sandy and Maggie (and now me?) and is quite a renaissance man. He used to roadie for a rock band when he was younger and now he performs on the comedy circuit when he's got a free day or evening. And to top things off, he also stars on the Animal Channel's Emergency Vet! Needless to say, the moment I saw him, the first thing to come out of my big mouth was, "Can I have an autograph?" And I got one, too!

Eventually we ended up at the Tattered Cover, a huge book store in Denver, where our last delivery was scheduled. There we met Deb and Audi. We walked around the store and looked at some books. Then Max and Jenn found a nice soft couch for us to relax and wait for Audi and Deb to stop spending money. Thos eold ladies sure know how to buy books! Our next stop was over at Chevy's in Cherry Creek Mall for lunch and cards. I gave Deb my book to keep score for our '501' game.
