Today Jenn and Max took me on a hiking trip. We set out for a place called Diamond Head. This was an old volcano that was used as a military base back in the 1940s to help look out for enemies that might be traveling by sea to the island. Although this mountain doesn't compare to the ones in Colorado, it was a beautiful place and we could see the city of Waikiki (where we were staying) from way up at the top. We could also see a small lighthouse down below and a variety of different blues and greens on the ocean floor below.
On the way up to the hike we drove past a couple of big yellow-bellied fire trucks. I just had to stop and get some photos with them. The firemen there were very nice and chatted with us for some time.
We also explored Koko Crater (another old volcano) and visited a Botanical Garden that they had the crater. I enjoyed seeing all the different flowers and plants that were there, but Jenn said I couldn't eat anything because it was "for display only".
Later on we passed by "Sandy Beach". I'm telling you, that cat gets around, they name things after her all over the place. After a long a busy morning we went back to the burrow to get cleaned up and ready to meet Luda and Ida again for dinner. Tonight we ate dinner at a Hard Rock Cafe. This is the third one I've been to and Jenn tells me there are many more to go. So I have a new mission of seeing just how many Hard Rock Cafes I can visit.
When dinner was over Jenn and Luda put on their seim suits and hit the ocean waters for a swim. I wasn't allowed to get in so I sat on the sand with Max and Ida. It was a great day, but so am beat....bedtime, here I come!
