Our last day in Hawaii! It's been a fun trip. We packed our bags and put them in the trunk and hit the roads one last time. There was very little that we hadn't done yet on the island, but we went looking anyway. We saw some beautiful overlooks, a memorial to soldiers that died during the war with Japan, a Buddhist Temple and we drove on a long high, curvy road on a mountain top that overlooked the city of Honolulu.
The soldiers' memorial, aka the Punchbowl National Memorial, was a nice place. It's located in another old volcano and is very peaceful. They've done a very nice job keeping things clean and looking good.
Round Top Drive was the name of the long curvy road. You could see far from the overlooks and there were lots and lots of rainbows, some of which we drove under. Luda said that's a sign of good luck.
The Buddhist Temple was beautiful. We were allowed to go in and sit a while and we got some information on the building's history and the Buddhist way of life. The man there was nice and told us what we wanted to know about the temple.
Then it was time to head to the airport and head back to our borrows in Denver. We had lots of time before our flight, so we went walking around a bit and then found a place to eat dinner. It was called "Sting Rays" and they had some pretty good burgers there.
Then on to the plane. What a long, long ride that was (I'd almost forgotten how long). At least I had some cartoons to watch this time. Once in San Fransico we got off one plane and had very little time to board the next one that would finally get us home.
Back in Denver we took Luda and Ida to their burrow and then headed to ours for showers. We had only a few hours of R&R before heading out again to meet the Omega Glory crew to play some miniture golf. I wore my new Hawaiian shirt and Lei so everyone could see how much fun I had on our vacation.
"Fuddrucker's" was the dinner choice for the evening and as always it was good!
BOY WHAT A WEEK IT'S BEEN!
