10.12: PumpkinFestI'm going to be a famous marmot yet! The Omega Glory went to the PumpkinFest on October 12th in Aurora. We cruised around the site and then watched the pumpkin-launching contest, which is always fun. Dozens of humans get together and make different launching apparatuses to see who can shoot a pumpkin the furthest. Many of the pumpkins this year flew only a few yards. Some went straight up and fell back down. A few made it into trees by the golf course. One went straight for the crowd of spectators. Thankfully no one got hurt, but a few spectators clearly peed on themselves. Outside of the crowd being bombed, the PumpkinFest was a blast! If you haven't seen this yet, be sure to put it on your calendar for next year, it's loads of fun. When the pumpkins were all gone and things started slowing down, we once again went around the rest of the park to see what else there was to do. After checking out the little house that used to be a working farm in Aurora - the very first one(?), the Delaney Farm, we headed back to the car. Along the way Jenn got a tap on the shoulder and turned to see two women. They said that they had noticed me with her and wondered if I was the same yellow-bellied marmot who had a website. They explained that they had been looking for information on the PumpkinFest and found my site from the same event from 2001. I'm glad that Max puts so much effort into helping me keep my website up to date so that it can help folks like this. The women were very nice and chatted with us for a little bit and then took a picture with me. I hope to see them again sometime. I haven't gotten around much this month as Jenn and Max have been busy doing other things, but they assure me that things will pick up again soon. I hear that it's about that time of the year again when we watch movies while trying to stay indoors and keep warm. I'm also looking forward to the big New Years party that my friend, Sandy, hosts every year. Put it on your calendar now! Until next time, have a great time and be happy. |
