I haven't actually watched the show in a while (been watching DAYS lately) so I don't really know what's going on. This story takes place after their seperation and is from Sonny's point of view. I hope you enjoy.

Miss You

Outside it was a bright day, a sunny day. The birds were chriping, the flowers were blooming, and life in Port Charles continued as it had yesterday, as it would tomorrow.

But inside Harborview Towers, Penthouse 4, the story was different.

The curtains were drawn, casting darkness throughout. Silence prevailed over the laughter, the happiness, the love that used to live within those same walls. But now, the only feeling left was a hollow emptiness.

Sonny sat on the sofa, simply staring at the ottoman she had insisted they needed. Since she'd left, most of his days had been filled with this practice. Sure, he would take care of whatever business transactions that needed his attention, coffee or not.  But he had never seemed to realize how much of his time was actually left free to do other things.

Like watching Michael play. Or sharing a meal with his family. Making love with her.

He sat up, rubbing his hands down his face to clear his thoughts. He would go insane if he kept this up. What he needed was a distraction, something to occupy his thoughts so they would be banished. Getting up, he walked over behind the bar, turning on the small radio he kept there.

"....listening to 102.5 The Party, the station that plays the hits..."

Sonny smiled. Carly must have put it here. He moved his hand to change the dial when the words hit.

I can't sleep
I just can't breathe
When your shadow is all over me, baby

Lowering his hand, he stepped back. Sonny glanced around the room to see if it was some kind of joke.

Don't wanna be
A fool in your eyes
'Cause what we had was built in lies

He didn't know why, but he felt the song was talking to him, painting a picture of how his life had changed in the past few months, since she had blown into it and just as quickly faded out.

And when our love seems to fade away
Listen to me hear what I say

He waited for the next words while the whole world seemed to stand still...

I don't wanna feel
The way that I do
I just wanna be
Right here with you

He closed his eyes, the words hitting his heart. Moving towards the sofa, he continued to listen to the rest of the song.

I don't wanna see
See us apart
I just wanna say it straight from my heart
I miss you...

And he did. The knowledge rocked him as the words floated from the radio. He missed her. He missed her so much sometimes it hurt to just wake up. What was the point? He didn't have anyone to make breakfast for. He didn't have anyone to tell not to bother him while he worked. He only had the walls surrounding him, the furniture within. But the emptiness was there.

She had added so much to his life. First the hope, with the child they had made together. Then the family she had given him. Even with the loss of their child, he'd still had her and Michael to take care of, to make sure thier needs were met and their lives were good. Now he had nothing.

What would it take, for you to see
To make you understand that I'll always believe
You and I, can make it through
And still know, I can't get over you

Sitting atop of the ottoman instead of the couch, he absently rubbed the fabric. What would it take for him to get her back and make his life complete again?

Tell her he loved her?

He couldn't really say the words unless they were true; didn't believe they meant anything if said out of obligation or, in his case, a need for company. But the ache in his heart told him otherwise. How quickly she had made herself and her son a part of his life, his existence. It was almost a if he hadn't lived until he had been with her.

And when our love seems to fade away
Listen to me hear what I say

The slow ache in his heart throbbed to life. He didn't want what they had to be lost over his inability to tell her something that seemed so simple. He now felt foolish for thinking they could have just lived together, even gotten married, and taken care of Michael together without something as necessary as love.

Everyone needed it. And as if the light was just being turned on inside a dark room, he realized he needed it to. He needed to feel love and give love, but there was only one woman he wanted to share those feelings with. And he had let her walk away.

I don't wanna feel
The way that I do
I just wanna be
Right here with you
I don't wanna see
See us apart
I just wanna say it straight from my heart
I miss you...

He wanted the emptiness to die; for his life to be normal again. He didn't want to wake up everyday and wonder where she was, what she was doing, who she was with. He didn't want to use the excuse of visiting with Michael just so he could see her. He didn't want her living somewhere else where he couldn't take care of her himself, couldn't make sure she had everything she needed.

He wanted to just hold her and never let go.

He needed her in his life.

He loved her.

'Cause when our love always fades away
Listen to me hear what I say

Sonny got up, quickly walking over to his desk, he picked up his jacket and headed for the door. He had to find Carly and tell her how he felt. She needed to know that he loved her and wanted her back; wanted her home.

I don't wanna feel
The way that I do
I just wanna be
Right here with you
I don't wanna see
See us apart
I just wanna say it straight from my heart
I miss you...
