Fulltiming - Part 10

What Fulltimers Do

No matter what you love to do, fulltime RVing can enhance your pursuits. Whether it is people, places, or things, you will enjoy it more as a fulltimer. For example, look at this partial list of fulltiming RV activities:

  • Visit natural treasures - From the Grand Canyon to the Florida Keys, America is filled with great natural wonders. Use fulltiming to see the California redwoods, our many national parks, the Everglades, Niagara Falls, the Great Lakes, the Mississippi River, Death Valley, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Rocky Mountains, to name a few.
  • See historic sites - Learn about your country by actually visiting famous places, like the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall in Philadelphia; or the Kitty Hawk memorial in North Carolina; the Alamo in Texas; the battlefields of Gettysburg; the Little Big Horn; Tombstone, Arizona; Williamsburg, Virginia; the Olde City of St. Augustine, Florida; or the Smithsonian museums and other historic sites of Washington, D.C.
  • Attend special events - Ever want to go to the Super Bowl? How about the Kentucky Derby or a World Series game? As a fulltimer, you will have the time and the transportation to see all of these events and more. Let your RV take you to a Presidential Inauguration, a space shuttle launch, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, or New Years Eve in Times Square.
  • Explore diversity - Our country is made of many cultures. As a fulltimer, you can experience the many ethnic treasures America has to offer. From listening to blues to enjoying Cajun cooking, fulltimers have a chance to experience it all.
  • Pursue hobbies - The things you love to do but never have enough time for can suddenly become the central focus of your travels. Enjoy bird watching, visit famous gardens and geological sites, fish to your heart's content, golf anywhere in the country, chase the wildest roller coasters, research your family tree, shop for collectibles, or visit historic battlefields. Best of all, do it at your own pace.
  • Visit the top vacation spots - Hit those crowded theme parks and resorts when it suits you, not when your boss can give you some time off. Visit Disney World and Disneyland; travel to Six Flags over everywhere; go casino hopping in Las Vegas; enjoy music and entertainment in Branson, Missouri; tour all of the country's Sea Worlds; take the chocolate factory tour at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania; visit Universal Studios (both of them); or head for the Calgary Stampede.
  • Take a sports tour - Follow the NASCAR circuit, visit every stadium or arena of your favorite sport, follow the PGA tour, see the Indianapolis 500, or attend the Olympics. You now have the time to do it all.
  • Escape the contiguous 48 - Tour Alaska, Canada, and Mexico without time constraints.
  • Write about your travels - With so many exciting places to visit, you may want to keep a journal, write a book, or post your adventures to a homemade web site.
  • Expand your RV knowledge - Attend RV shows and seminars across the country, or take some time to enroll in one of Gaylord Maxwell's Life on Wheels Conferences.

As you can see, this list could go on and on. There are so many wonderful things to do and places to see as a fulltimer, we could never begin to address them all here. We haven't talked about the many museums you can visit, the beautiful oceanfront attractions along both coasts, the famous trails that dot the American landscape, or the regional festivals held throughout the country.

The secret to it all is taking the time to explore and get to know the places you visit. Stay awhile. Fulltiming should offer you comfort, convenience, safety, ease, and lots of fun. If done right, the fulltiming lifestyle can keep you young in heart and mind. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and go fulltiming!
