BUILDING RESPECT IN THE COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL
B.R.I.C.S. serves as an umbrella under which safe school initiatives, including anti--bullying programs are built. What is the purpose of B.R.I.C.S.? To Build a culture of respect in our community which is evident in the norms, values and behaviour of students. Every child can recite the story of The Three Little Pigs, which has the underlying theme of bullying. The wolf is the bully; the pigs the victims. Only when the pigs build a house out of bricks are they finally safe from the wolf. In the same way, this program provides the "B.R.I.C.S." of the wall that will protect children from the wolf at school. This story serves as an inspiration for B.R.I.C.S.. 3 WALLS OF B.R.I.C.S. There are 3 arms to the B.R.I.C.S. program. Each is aimed at the different stakeholders in the bullying problem. These 3 are important in creating consistency in the language used to address the bullying issue among students, teachers, and parents.
