Marmot Basin
Marmot Basin Is Banffs fourth ski resort and is located 285km north of Banff
townsite in Jasper Provincial Park. While only about a thousand skiiable acres, Marmot feels larger.
Its possible to loose yourself on the Mountain in several different places. The
triple chair to Caribou Ridge is great, I loved highway 16 for its pitch and bumps , enough to keep
my attention for hours. Then there's Eagle East and Rock Gardens. I don't recommend
Eagles East to any novice though and to do this one you'd better be a bonafied X-tream skier!
Also there's the Knob. The Knob is the uppermost area leading up to Marmot Summit and in
this area you can find good blue square runs and terrific black diamond runs. All in all I
would recommend Marmot Basin to anyone who likes Red Mountain, however the facilities at Marmot
are world class and the scenery is some of the most spectacular in all the Rocky Mountains.
