Whitewater

Whitewater Ski and Winter Resort is located in the Colombia Mountains, West of Kootenay Lake, in the town of Nelson,BC. One only needs to remember Steve Martins movie Bird on a Wire and Nelson will come in to mind for it was here that this Divesiak impostor took to screen. Done yawning yet? Well lets hit the slopes at Whitewater ski Resort and experience some fine BC powder and magnificent slopes. While Whitewater is a relatively small resort that is situated in a natural snow bowl, and what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in terrain. Its like heli-skiing or cat skiing and the runs that have the best pow are mostly blue and black runs through glades and forest trails. A short traverse across the ridge to Powder Keg Bowl and further on to Catch Basin provides awesome bowl and glade skiing. Also being on the Powder Highway, Whitewater is blessed with dump after dump of fluffy white stuff and seems to be more than enough to keep the locals happy, this fact has put Whitewater on my Powder Five list. Whitewaters runs are on the steep side but there is still a lot of good runs to keep the wife busy while providing enough black diamond runs to keep even the most seasoned skier happy.I really had a good time in Nelson and for a while considered making it my home.The night life in Nelson is fun and inexpensive, the locals are very cool and accepting. Go to Whitewater, you'll be happy you did.
