Eastern Eschatololgy

Welcome to a website that explores the eschatological beliefs of Buddhism and Hinduism.  This website, a project for a class titled The End of the World,
provides an analytical account of the Hindu apocalypse and the Buddhist apocalypse.  The Buddhist apocalypse  has been investigated by Jangwon Yoon
and the Hindu apocalypse has been explored by David Curry.  Below are links to each respective page.

Buddhism is one of the oldest religions in the world. Throughout it's history many different thoughts have been made about many different topics. In this webpage we look at how Buddhism has developed the idea of an apocalypse. The apocalypse in each tradition is shaped by it's history and cultural influences. Three types of Buddhism exist today. Each one will be looked at seperately and then compared to the other two. In the end we will see that each tradition is unique in the way they came to the conclusion of the end of the world.

Hinduism also has ancient roots and the dogma that is presented in the Hindu religious texts is still followed to this day. The idea of a Hindu apocalypse has therefore been in existence since the beginning. Exactly when the apocalypse is expected to occur as well as what will happen when the apocalypse is upon us is described in further detail in the following pages.
