Under the name of 6RUNNER, I offer the service for preparation of scientific incursions and entomological expeditions for the Dominican Republic territory. This service is based on the needs and priorities of the researchers and their investigation according with the group of study. Therefore, based in your priorities and the group of insect or animal that you would like to collect we can prepare the plan and itinerary for your field work taking in account the best localities for finding and collect them.
In the last years the some Dominican ecosystems have been degraded as well as some important habitats by the human activities and the development. Therefore, only some patches of pristine and very well preserve forest are remaining in some very remote localities where access is difficult, not to say impossible. Only a local guide like me very well experimented with the Dominican road and with a good knowledge and expertise of these localities where there are some healthy habitats and excellent forest, in which the abundant and the diversity of the species still are relative abundant, you will be able to reach these remote places. So, I can plan, organize and execute your itinerary for your field trip in the Dominican for making your trip fully legitimate scientifically and making it successfully with my experience, knowledge common sense and problem solving skills on unexpected situations that arise as well as my contacts throughout the country.
ECOTOURS: Nature Tours and Recreational Marine Activities
The Ecotours are mainly nature tours, ecological tours, national park hiking, environmental route, wildlife viewing, photograph, bird watching, butterflies watching. In addition, we have the contacts to make some recreational marine activities, like boating, fishing, snorkeling and diving. In addition, we prepare customized tours and private deluxe tours exclusively for group of people and families of 5 people or less. The tours are guided by Kelvin Guerrero, local biologist with a lot of experience and knowledge of the wildlife and natural history of the Dominican Republic. Also, with common sense and problem solving skills on unexpected situations that arise as well as my contacts throughout the country. It is very important to point out due to budget limitation of the national park service many national parks in the Dominican Republic do not have interpretive signs, exhibits or displays, they lack of information services, visitors facilities, the access route and trail are not well known even for some local, only park ranger; so that is why it is recommended to visit these areas with an experience and knowledgably guide.
The idea is to prepare a tours according with your interest. Even though we can have some combo tours we rather prefer you get in contact with the real Dominican, feeling in family with the local people and know our biodiversity. Therefore, you can get your own park fee entrance and buy your snack and drink in the local groceries store (Colmados).
The cost of the tour would depend on the kind of the tour; however, cost will include guide service, pick up and return transport (only if you are staying in a hotel in the Bayahibe areas and if you do not have one). Also, we can include light snack and local drink (only if you ask to so – it would be included in your tour fee).
NOTE: Some of these ecotours are made with the participations of the Bayahibe Boat Operators Association (ASPLABA) and Fundacion Amigos del Parque Nacional del Este (ECOPARQUE) and people of the communities of Bayahibe, Boca de Yuma and Saona Island.
The ecotours of the Parque Nacional del Este are designed tours for group of people with high interest in knowing the ecology and biodiversity of the Dominican Republic. Therefore, you have the opportunity to learn about the Taino Indians (a Pre-Columbian Indigenous Culture); Birdwatch, among other animals like reptiles, insects, and other arthropods; learn about the tropical forest, identify plants, marine ecosystem, and cave. These ecotours are made for small group of people 5 or less. However, in some case, we can accept until 20 people. Also, this tour are customized and private guide by interpretation specialist a local wildlife biologist with a lot of experience, more than 15 years and knowledge of the wildlife and natural history of the Parque Nacional del Este.
