Tropico II: Pirate Cove Goes Gold

Frog City Software and Take-Two Interactive announced today that their sequal to Tropico has gone gold.

Frog City and Take-Two have announced today that Tropico II: Pirate Cove, which is currently being prepared for retail, has gone gold.

"The original Tropico received worldwide acclaim when it hit store shelves in 2001," said Kelly Sumner, president of Gathering. "We wanted to preserve the light tone of the original, and found that the pirate theme in Tropico 2: Pirate Cove allowed us to do just that. Pirate Cove retains the tongue-in-cheek humor and island setting of the original, while providing compelling new gameplay."

In the original Tropico, you got to be the dictator of a banana republic but in the sequel, you get to be the leader of an island of pirates. The game is set to be released on April 8. To learn more about the game, check out our preview of the game.
