The next meeting of the Streamlined Sales Tax Project will be held Thursday and Friday, March 27-28, 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee. The sessions will begin at 8:30 am on Thursday and continue until 4:00 pm on Friday.
A tentative agenda to be used for planning purposes is attached. The current plan calls for a Government Only Combined Work Group session on Thursday morning. That will be followed by open Work Group sessions from Thursday afternoon through mid-Friday afternoon and a Project Meeting at 3:00pm on Friday.
The meeting will be held at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, located at 611 Commerce Street. A block of rooms has been set aside for Wednesday and Thursday nights (March 26-27). The rate is $95 single or double plus tax. Please make your hotel reservations directly by calling 800-327-6618 or 615-255-8400; be certain to use the following reference code in making the reservations: FederationofTaxAdm. [No kidding, that is what they told use to use. Of all else fails, indicate you are part of the FTA Streamlined Sales Project block.]. The cut-off for making reservations is on or before Monday, March 3, 2003. The fax number for the hotel is 615-255-8163.
The hotel is in downtown Music City USA and is about nine miles from the airport. There are taxis or the Downtown Shuttle Express for transportation from the airport. The hotel is adjacent to the Nashville Convention Center (where the actual meetings will take place). It is also within easy walking distance to the Old Ryman Auditorium, the new Country Music Hall of Fame, Gaylord Entertainment Center (home of the NHL Predators), Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, and 2nd Avenue.
The registration fee for the meeting will be $225. The fee will cover breakfast and lunch on both Thursday and Friday as well as the requisite breaks. A registration form is available from above link. You may also register (and pay if possible) online.
Thank you for your continued support of this important effort. Please feel free to contact Diane Hardt or Scott Peterson if you have questions about the agenda for the meeting. Contact me if you have logistical questions.
