Hi all,

Welcome to the Boy Scout Troop 357 Cyber Site. We are an Active Growing troop located in New York's Capital Region. We've been chartered for OVER 37+ years and sponsored by VFW Post 357 since the very beginning. We provide services to Scouts in and around the City of Schenectady and Town of Rotterdam. Schenectady is well known as the "City that Lights the WORLD" being the home of General Electric and the Former Alco Train Factory.

Our Troop is growing, yet a very proud organization having the Honor to be invited and participate twice in the "West Point Invitational Camporee" where only the finest Troops in the Country earn an invitation. We are also a participant in the Alleghaney Highlands VFW Troop Encampment put on by the American Legion near Erie PA.

Each summer, we send a group of our Scouts to what has to be one of the Finest Scout Camps, since the old days of Camp Boyhaven. (Old Schenectady County Council Camp) General Herkimer Council is the host of Camp Russell in White Lake, NY. (up near Old Forge) This camp has an energetic and highly motivated staff which is why we have returned there for the last 10 summers. (since Twin Rivers Council moved the council SC to Rotary Scout Reservation)

Currently, we are currently on the "right track" with 3 Scouts heading for Eagle within the next year! Hopefully, we've "Lit the Spark" for others to follow in their flight path. Our Leaders, ALL have years of dedicated service. We have John M. Papp as our Dedicated SM with 28 yrs. Service, Ansell Alberga with 23 years, Tom Machia with 2 yrs, and Mark Nadeau Committee Chairman with over 33 years. This is the wealth of experience that has kept the doors open to Scouts in the Rotterdam-Schenectady Area. This Troop has sent several Scouts & Scouters to Philmont, Camp Staff, NOAC, and Several National Jamborees in the last 20 years. 3 of our Leaders will be serving on the 2001 National Jamboree STAFF in Virginia!!
