Back when I got my first drivers license, I didn’t need a CDL. Because our family was one of the larger owner/operators of a fleet of straight trucks, while we were one of the “Mainline Contract Carriers” for the Kansas City Star, the main local newspaper. Then as time went on, when regulat- ions changed for the requirements for the license, I would get whatever was required, etc. So I have had a Class A CDL ever since then, w/tank & doubles endorsements. These trucks were 12,000# on up to 36000# trucks. I then worked part time for other companies that had semi trucks, and I began gaining experience driving semi’s. Most of my “over the road” semi driving experience has been in the “classic“ style tractors w/condo type sleepers, and with 53’ van trailers. Then our family business converted over to hauling freight, and we then started having team driving. Therefore, I started gaining team driving experience. Out of my million or so miles of driving, about a forth of that has been in semis. EDUCATION ’73, ’86, ’87 Additional education for drafting and computer aided drafting, Tulsa Vocational College, 3420 S Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK 74145 1967-1972 Bachelor of Science of Mechanical Engineering with an Aerospace Option University of Tulsa, 800 S Tucker Drive, Tulsa, OK 74104 1961-1967 High School Diploma, Pembroke Hill (Pem-Day 1967), 5121 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64112 EMPLOYMENT (Driving) The Glassmen Over the Road Semi Truck Driver, The Glassmen. June thru Aug I hauled a 48' trailer that has everything to do with cooking. of 2005, 2006, When we would arrive at our housing, I would park somewhere somewhat level, & 2007 then level up the trailer with wood pads and/or blocks. We used Pensky tractors. Pillar in 2003 Over the Road Semi Truck Driver, Pillar, Cornerstone Audio Works f/ Jeff Roberts & Asso. 10/30 - 11/24, I was responsible for all the paperwork, normal on the road inspections, and maintenance of Shoutfest '03 my equipment, as well as, my routing to and from each concert location. My equipment for the 9/7 - 10/28, the Pillar tour was a Peterbuilt Classic, a 2000 model, with a single sleeper, then a 2001 Shoutfest '02 Freightlinener Century Class for the Shoutfest '03 tour, and for the Shoutfest '02 tour, it was 9/11 - 11/20 an International Eagle with a ProSleeper. For all the tours, the trailer was a 53' van trailer. I was hauling the stage, sound equipment and lighting, and when necessary, supervised the unloading. When the epuipment was loaded, I continued on to the next concert location. 2000-2002 Truck Driver, Straight Shot Express I drove part time. Many of my trips were over the road, and about 30 - 40 percent of the time they were team drives. Sometimes, upon pick-up, I (or we) would load the truck and secure the load, and sign off on it. These trucks were 24000# to 36000# type straight trucks, some had small single sleepers on them, and so therefore on the longer drives, I would have a co-driver. Upon delivery, I (or we) would unload the truck , and then after signing off on it and calling in to dispatch, we would pick up a back-haul or just return. 1992-2006 Over the Road Truck Driver, Harvest Productions (on call) I drove part time for this company, also. Most of the time I drove semis, pretty much the same as afore mentioned above with Cornerstone Audio Works / Jeff Roberts & Associates. 1964-2002 Truck Driver, Stafford and Co. Inc. In addition to what I mentioned above about our truck fleet, I knew most of our routes so I would drive for the guys that went on vacations during the summers. I had to load my own truck, make sure my load count was right, and that the zone count was correct as well as the different parts of the newspaper. Then for delivery, I would count out the bundles of papers of the different parts of the paper and for the different zones. 1998-2001 Over the Road Truck Driver, A-1 Moving When I drove for these folks, I would figure out my own route and then on the delivery end, I would hire my unloading crew there at a local moving outfit. Then upon completion of the delivery of everything, I would sit down with the shipper, and go over how everything was, and if there were any problems, to let them make note of it, etc.
