My Little Bike Project

AKA - Waiting for Parts SUX!!

Please join me in saying hello to the newest member of the family. As you can see, we made it back from Iraq in one piece and made good use of the time. I'm finally done! I have to kick props to Steve and Jim for all their work. I couldn't have come close to this result without their help. Also, I have to send out a big thanks to Mike at CycleMart for his help getting the parts. It's always good to find people who keep their word and know how to "Get It Done". Thanks Mike!
We finished up the build and the last part was the bullet air cleaner. A little gas and Four turns of the engine, and she came to life! I've watched too many bike shows where the pros have trouble getting there beasts started.

Well, This is a place to keep my friends up on how the Punisher Project is going. I started thinking about this in December 2001. The gang was sittin' around talking about either buying or building a harley.

Why

Good question. First of all let me say that the entire project is dedicated to Gene A. Vance.( Search) He was taken from us in a far away place that no one outside the gang has ever heard of. Gene was more into mountain bikes than anything else. He worked at a bike shop in Morgantown, WV when Uncle Sam wasn't sending him to god-forsaken shit-holes like Malak Say. The best compliment I can give Gene(or to anyone for that matter) is that he was my friend. Like many people and Sept. 11th, I remember where I was standing when we heard the news that the medi-vac was not in time. I have a lot of ghosts chasing me from that time in my life. Maybe a lot of this project is my attempt to "Excise the Demons".

The style of bike is influenced by my time in California. I lived in Monterey and visited Hollister many times. I saw a lot of styles of bikes. The "California Digger" style, with its low stretch look is the one that made the impression. I know "Choppers" are all the rage right now, but the theme of the bike begs for a low and clean look. As for the theme, the Punisher is a Marvel Comics Character who is a street vigilante. His back story is a little dark. He was a Special Ops type working for the government. When he quit, his past came to haunt him with the killing of his family and friends. With his world torn apart, he decides to find those either outside or above the law and dole out a little "Street Justice".

Each member of the gang/team has been put to task to come up with their own thing/object/saying they want on the frame. They will use the multiple languages we have been taught to express whatever they want. I expect it will be for the best that their "contributions" will be in other languages. ;-)
