A celebration of primary languages

 4 March 2002

On Monday afternoon 4th March Sir Thomas Rich's welcomed to the school pupils and staff from Widden Primary School and Longlevens Junior School. The afternoon was a celebration of the achievements of the pupils in their acquisition of foreign languages. (Government take note!) Since we became a Language College we have enabled Widden and Longlevens to add foreign languages to their curriculum. It was a delight to watch the enthusiasm and self-assurance of these young pupils as they performed songs, poems and stories in French, German, Spanish, Gujarati and Bengali to an audience of pupils and proud parents. The afternoon was supplemented by memorable performances from STRS pupils and staff . The playful antics of the clowns, the unforgettable rendition of "Who Wants to be a millionaire" and the Flamenco duo provided amusing interludes. The afternoon concluded with a contribution from our Italian beginners and a rousing Italian farewell by the audience performing Mexican waves.
