Desktop processors
AMD - Advanced Mico Devices
AMD has recently released their Pentium 4-killing Athlon T-Bird. It runs at 1.4 GHz and has a hefty 266 MHz bus and 256 kb of L2 full speed cache. The AMD athlon 1.4 GHz has been proven to beat the Pentium 4 1.7 GHz. At the lower end of the spectrum, AMD has also released a 950 MHz Duron, AMD's answer to the celron.
Intel
Intel has recently brought out their 1.8 GHz Pentium 4. It is still crippled from features. Intel is bringing out a new Pentium 3, code name the Tutalin. A 1.13 GHz P-iiiM (tutilan) can out perform a pentium 4 1.3 GHz.
Mobile processors

AMD is the new boy entering mobile computing with a bang. They have released the next version of the AMD Athlon, called the Athlon 4, at a speed of 1 GHz on laptops. It is also available at lower speeds. They have also released mobile duron producs. |
