Band Biography
Gentleman Jack is a band that was formed in 1998 and consists of members from TSOL, Down By Law, The Adolescents and The Offspring.
Their first album was originally going to be released in September 1998, simply under the name Jack Grisham and was named Dear No One. Epitaph was going to release this album that was produced by Sally Bowder, but things didn't work out that way. However, this year in August, Emily the first song from this album is going to be released on a Joykiller album, giving it a chance to show it's strengths on an album.
Produced by Brett Gueritz, the second album named Ready, Sexed, GO! wasn't released by Epitaph as was planned in 1999. Since then songs have appeared on compilations. Punk-O-Rama #4, and RAFR, Volume #3. (See discography for more information on the compilations and the albums)
They were formed by Jack Grisham and his friend Jay Smith. They don't tour and it looks like they are not going to make another album, but the songs off the as yet unreleased Gentleman Jack albums are good tracks, that show some of the bands diversity.
The Joykiller have been out for a little bit longer then that though, and have released four albums (Including Ready, Sexed, GO!)since its inception. Jack Grisham and Ron Emeroy, friends since the TSOL days, had decided to form another band after Beneath The Shadows, and The Joykiller was what ensued.
Along with the music talent of Billy Persons and Chris Lagorberg, they released their first album, The Joykiller to the public thanks to Epitaph, and copped critism for their catchy and enjoyable tunes. They answered back in 1996 with Static and the album Jack wanted to entitle 'Fuck you, we're a punk band' other wise known as Three in 1997.
In 2003 all Joykiller albums are going to be covered in the same album, which should be treat for those who can't get the Joykiller albums, also there are going to be Gentleman Jack songs on the album, so all of you who haven't gotten their hands on some of the music, should be pleased.
