Old Earth vs. Young Earth

The purpose of this page is to offer opposing opinions to scientific opinions that date the world as being billions of years old. Scientists have only a handful of methods that they use to date the world as billions of years old:
-Radiometric/Carbon Dating, which has been shown to be extremely unreliable here.
-Ages of Stars
-Continental Drift
The last two methods, however convincing they may appear on the outside, are easy to explain if you assume the existance of God, so they should not be able to convince a Christian that the world is billions of years old. Therefore, the only real support old earthers have is their faulty dating methods. Young earthers, on the other hand, have a multitude of reliable methods of dating the earth as young. These natural observations, if true, each prove that the earth is only a few thousand years old, and definitely not billions of years old. While Scientists and Evolutionists have of course given explanations to many of the following explanations using unprobable and unscientific assumptions, but if even one of these arguments is true, the old earth theory must be wrong.
Proof against an old earth and for a young earth:

  • Comets are supposed to have formed at the creation of our solar system. They, just like the planets, orbit the sun in an elliptical pattern, so during each orbit, they come closer to the sun. Each time they pass by the sun, they lose a certain amount of their mass in such proportions that they could not survive in the solar system for more than 100,000 years. Using this method of aging, many comets have ages of only a few thousand years. [1]
  • Sediments erode from the continents and accumulate on the ocean floor at a constant rate. Using the presend depth of the sediments and the rate at which it accumulates, the oceans could only have existed for up to 12 million years, much less than evolutionary theory states (3 billion years). However, this is still well above the creationist view of 6,000-10,000 years. But assuming that the Genesis flood did take place, a tremendous amount of sediments would have instantly accumulated, explaining the depth of the sediments very well. [1]
  • Sodium from rivers empty a constant amount of sodium into the oceans. Assuming the oceans started with no sodium, the maximum age of the oceans (using very generous and unlikely evolutionary figures) amounts to 62 million years, much younger that the evolutionary age. Again, the Genesis flood can easily account for this surplus of sodium. [1]
  • The magnetic field surrounding the earth decays at a constant rate through time. Using calculations that include the affects of the Genesis flood, the earth can only be up to 10,000 years old based on magnetic field decay. [1]
  • Strata, layers of solidified sedimentary rock, are bent at very tight angles. Evolutionary theory claims that these strata bent at these very tight angles after they had solidified. However, since these strata have no cracks in them, using sipmle logic, one can see that they must have still been wet and unsolidified when bent. This implies an age for the earth of only a few thousand years. [1]
  • Helium is emitted from all radioactively decaying substances. This helium, after escaping from its radioactive parents, accumulates in the atmosphere. The amount of helium in the atmosphere today (taking into account the amount of helium that would be lost into space) is only .05% what it should be if the earth is billions of years old. This implies an earth of only a few thousand years. [1]
  • Supernovas, or massive explosions stars, should leave remnants expanding from the site of the supernova for hundreds of thousands of years. However, we have observed no very old (stage 3)Supernova remnants and very few young (stage 1) Supernova remnants in our milky way and the surrounding galaxies. This implies an earth much younger than the evolutionist earth. [2]
  • The moon is escaping the earth's orbit at a very slow, but constant rate. If the moon had started in orbit touching the earth, it could only be 1.37 billion years old. Therefore the evolutionary theory must be incorrect. However, from the Biblical account we know that the moon started off separated from earth, so an age much younger than the maximum age for the earth using this theory (1.37 billion years) is acceptable. [2]
  • The radioactive element polonium, leaves a signature marking in the earth if it decays in solid rock. All over the world, these signatures are found in rocks dated as millions of years old. This shows that these rocks could never have been liquid rock, as evolutionists state. Therefore, since they were never molten, the whole evolutionist theory is offbase.[4]
