How many credits can I earn in one school year?
The class schedule permits a student to earn one to seven credits per year. You have the opportunity to earn up to two credits through independent study and the benefit of receiving one credit for work experience. You may also attend school for five hours per day to earn additional credit.

What are classes like at SCHS?
Every student has access to a computer throughout the school day. The curriculum is designed to permit each student to progress at his/her individual pace. A teacher is always readily available to provide assistance to students individually or in small groups. The content of the curriculum is programmed for computer-assisted instruction, which does not place a strict time limit on when a lesson be completed.

How much homework will I have to do each night?
At SCHS, your schoolwork is accomplished mostly during your time at school. However, if you wish to move ahead at a faster pace in your class or if you are trying to earn additional credit, you have the option of taking work home.

What input do I have in determining the courses I take at SCHS?
To receive a diploma approved by the Arizona State Board of Education, all students must earn 13 credits in basic subject areas. SCHS permits its students to choose elective courses totaling up to 7 credits in reaching the 20 credits required to receive a high school diploma.

What assistance will I receive in courses where I may need special help?
SCHS wants you to succeed, so we examine your transcript and through an academic assessment determine the place where you will begin a course of study. Students receive one on one teacher assistance on a regular basis with special emphasis in subjects that are most challenging to the student.

What are the ages of the students at SCHS?
SCHS provides a free public education for students from age 14 up to age 22 years old. There is a good age mix of students attending SCHS.

What are the benefits for students who work part time or full time?
SCHS strives to make the student’s school schedule compatible with his/her job assignment. There are two day sessions that run from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 11:45 AM to 3:45 PM.SCHS is considering a late afternoon session to accommodate students who need a later starting time for school. Students may also receive one credit per year for work experience and total of two credits overall.
