                                                  Jud News

                                                 by David Epley

Well, I guess by now you have all heard the hard time the Stud from Jud news columnist is having. Poor soul, went in Thursday, September 6th, for a tonsillectomy and wound up in ICU on a respirator! Don’t know how that actually happened—but it did! Tommy and I zoomed down on Sunday the 9th to check things out and it wasn’t pretty. Frankie looked wiped out and then we saw David—he always said never let him be hooked up to life support. I don’t know what happened in the room after I left Tommy and David alone, but David thinks Tommy tried to pull his plug! Tommy said he was just doing what David had always requested and that he didn’t see any brain activity going on—anyways, after 5 horrible days in ICU David is still ticking just like a Timex watch.

The bad news is he is still in the hospital. He developed a staph infection from a tube they had in him and will probably be another week in Hendricks. I think everyone ought to drop him a line or go by and see him. He is in room 6705 at Hendricks and is on first name basis with everyone so if you get lost just as for David. And please keep Frankie in your prayers, this is one brave woman with nerves of steel. David is trying to get her to quit smoking so something good may come out of this yet! David has been through several lives, but I think he still has a few more left. Another thing that everyone needs to know—PRAYER WORKS!

David said tell everyone to have faith in the good Lord. Somewhere between ICU and the great beyond David had an encounter with the Lord. He told David to tell everyone they “better get on their knees, confess their sins, and look to the east!”

David can tell the story a WHOLE lot better than me, so I hope you get the opportunity to hear it.

Of course, the greatest tragedy in our country has occurred. The 9-11 bombing of the World Trade Center. Even though we are not directly involved in the day-to-day survival of this horrendous crime, we are still so affected by it all. The terrorists not only destroyed lives but have tried to destroy our country’s economy and spirit. America will survive but we are all in for some life changing times. It is hard to imagine what lies ahead. Just be prepared and prioritize what is truly important in you life.

Things have never been busier or more chaotic. This is my first year teaching and coaching at R.I.S.D. so I definitely have a deeper appreciation for all of our teachers and administrators. We have some really great kids in our school and we have some that we really need to encourage to strive to be winners. The volleyball girls are having a winning season so far, and we are aiming to win district. Come support all our young people in all their efforts. You wouldn’t believe how much they notice when there are fans in the stand and when there aren’t. It’s so much easier to be fired up when you have people cheering you on!

David wanted me to fill all the Jud news addicts in on what’s happening. I’m sure I have forgotten some important tidbits but don’t despair The Stud will be back soon!! John just came running in and said they saw two tornadoes touch down outside of Guthrie. He had been there to watch the Rochester Junior High play football. There is a powerful looking storm headed our way. Sure could use the rain—remember “look to the east”. Time to shut down cyberspace—too much lightening popping around. Thanks for letting me sub for David, and David if you are reading this “We love you and need you at the river”--Jana
