More pics from camp - added September 22nd. Enjoy!

This is Gabriel, Captain and mini-Zuniga. Characteristically cute (I can almost hear YGU going "aaaaaah!").

The redoutable Kristen (I'm not even sure what that word means, but I sure hope it's complimentary!). Kristen has loads and loads of patience (and lent me all sorts of stationary through the summer - I once got glue all over the blades by cutting through duck tape...I pretended it wasn't me, and I hope they're better now!).Kristen has a lot to do and is a really great person - plus I was priveledged enough to sit next to her at the banquet dinner.

Ann, Lakeitha and Leanne - if you look closely at Ann you can almost see a hint of a smile. Almost...

Helen is caught stealing canteen money, hence the guilty look on her face. After camp she travelled around New England with her parents, and even let me join her for 5 days - going from September Youth Praise to Canada. That was really cool - thanks Helen! I hope that your application for American citizenship is successful - no other International on camp is more Americanised than you!

This is one of the best pictures of the Waterfront staff. Everybody has an acceptable expression on their faces and Kevin (far right for anyone that's forgotten Kevin) has quite an interesting look...
This picture is also proof positive of great neglect - as you can see, in the background are huge waves (well, for Lake Massapoag) and it was really difficult for the campers to swim in. Plus the wind was whipping EVERYTHING on the beach and even lifted up a boat which thankfully didn't hit anyone.
But instead of getting everyone out of the water, they take a moment to...GET A PICTURE TAKEN. AND THEY DON'T EVEN LOOK CONCERNED!
Even more mysterious is...why are Dan (YBU) and Sean (OBU) TOGETHER in this picture? The 2 units NEVER swim together...hmmm....

Calm returns to the lake. There are many awesome sunsets at camp; unfortunately we're usually in evening programs so we never get to see them. And very few kids appreciate sunsets (at least, if the way they conduct themselves around a campfire is any indication of their desire to contemplate natural beauty). *sigh*

Postcard stuff.

I had to sneak out of some (probably important) evening program to take this pic. I'm sure my campers were fine. I hope. Hey, is that the sound of someone suing me?!

Ladies and gentlemen ("Dames en here" in Afrikaans) - may I present to you...one of the *best* pranks of camp 2002...the Golf Cart Prank. Yes, a group of unnamed pranksters actually hijacked the golf cart and put it on the floating dock. Good job, guys! (Or girls, or whoever it was that did this!)

An unnamed female staff member actually returned late at night from Dunkin Donuts and interrupted the prank half-way through. The pranksters had taken the golf cart onto the beach at this stage, and when she drove past, she saw this. At this point, they were all hiding, but they saw it was her. She actually thought that moving the cart onto the beach *was* the prank, so she left.
Earlier on that night (or some other night, I can't recall) a few of us were walking around camp waaaay after curfew with flashlights, and Donnie saw some movement around the car areas. So, naturally, we walk on over to the cars, and bust --delete female staff member's name here-- hiding behind the cars. She was sooo scared that it was night rounds and that she was busted coming back late (again) from DD. Hehehe...it was good fun scaring her!

So the next morning the camp gets a visit from the po-lice. Yes, the cops come in and enquire about the golf cart - is it ours? Did some staff members do it, or someone else who shouldn't have? Was it a camp prank? I think that the local police are *somewhat familiar* with Camp Wonderland pranks. :)

Pity more people didn't get to see the prank! I'm sure that the people in this pic had absolutely NOTHING to do with the prank...nothing, I say; nothing!

Aaaah, the legendary miracle mile - funeral scene. I can almost hear Lynda saying, "My son - my son! Why, Lord, why?" Alternatively she'd say, "My daughter - my daughter! Why, Lord, why?" depending on whom had died. I always wondered if she'd get it wrong some day...

Paddy, Suzanne and Kate. All wearing the wonderful black-and-white music camp shirts. "Stick with God's love." :)

Ok, so not the best picture of Heather, but a picture nonetheless; I'm sure she's thrilled to know that she's downloadable. Kaelee in the background, as well as some funny faces.

The legendary crazy hair of Ruby and Sarah. To this day, campers crack themselves laughing when they see pics of the two of them on crazy hair day.

Dave Clay pretending to be friendly to a camper. He almost looks as if he's enjoying himself! O wait - some counselors actually had fun this summer! No wonder Dave won "rookie of the year."

This is the coldest I've ever been in my whole life. OBU wrestlemanie - with jello that had been in the freezer for a month, and still hadn't frozen. But I'm sure it was close. Here's Geoff, Kevin, Malcolm and Sean all stuck to each other. They needed help from others to get unstuck after this pic was taken.

YBU unit night out. This is one of the less-nasty pics taken of that evening, even though Eric is straining to prove he has muscles.

Linda at the ropes course - a fun place to be on camp, and one where you're allowed to hurt your campers by pretending to help them ;p

A typical campfire at Waban Village(unless a fire warning is put out and NO FIRES are allowed to be lit in the WHOLE of the Sharon area, so Jen gets on the phone and gets permission for one Miracle Mile campfire...*whew!*).

The crucifixtion scene on the Miracle Mile. Drew plays an awesome Jesus, and doesn't let it get "old" even though he's done it many times. I don't envy him being the Jesus with OBU, but he does it well. He's alive! ("Turn on the music!")
