Lesson : English Class : Prep-A Time : 90 minutes Level : Beginner Materials : Text-book, tape, and charts Goals : Students will learn frequency adverbs Objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to * make sentences with frequency adverbs * know the degree of frequency adverbs * put frequency adverbs to the right place in the sentences PRE-TEACHING:(7 MINUTES) Greeting and warming up.I ask some questions like; Do you always come to class late or How often do you come to class late? When do you usually get up in the morning? and generally they get up very early in the morning.Then I asked them 'Is it very early isn't it? And I ask"When do you usually get up at the weekend?and we talk about Saturday and Sunday 'mornings. LEAD IN ACTIVITY:(8 minutes) I get them to listen a song which name is BEST THING It is releated our topic.T hey will listen it twice at the beginning.Then I want them to write whatever they hear. WHILE TEACHING ACTIVITY 1(10 minutes) Firstly I write the five main frequency adverbs on the board .While I am writing, I also pronounce them.Then I draw a line which shows degree of frequency adverbs. Always Usually Often Sometimes Never Then I make some sentences with them and write them on the board underline the frequency adverbs. I always want my students to study very hard. I am never late for work. You should often listen to the tape for improving your pronounciation. Students usually do not like to study lesson ACTIVITY 2:(5 minutes) I want students make at least one sentences with frequency adverbs .Then I want some of them read sentences , ACTIVITY 3(10 minutes) I write five sentences on the board and in these sentences there are missing words,and I want them to fill these sentences with frequency adverbs. Fill in the missing words.Use always , usually , often , sometimes , never a) Stuart is very hardworking student.He is ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, in the library. b) Rosie is a cheerful person but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, she is short-tempered. c) It is ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, cold in Icland d) In Turkey the weather is ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, hot in the summer, but in the winter it is always cold e) Mrs Turner is very calm and patient.She is ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, impatient ACTIVITY 4:(5 minutes) I want them to write five true sentences about yourself by using the words in the box that I write on the board.And they can add some adjectives for their characters. Always, often , sometimes , usually , never , nice , rude , Polite , patient , optimistic, a) I am never patient b) I am often nice c) I am sometimes rude d) I am often polite e) I am usually optimistic ACTIVITY 5(6 minutes) I give some words which is not in an order.And I want them to put these words in the correct order. Am /cheerful /usually /I ?s not /Tom /short-tempered /always England /hot / is / very / sometimes The teachers / rude / never / are / to their pupils Mr Williams / bossy / sometimes / is Be respectful / should / we /to our teachers / always ACTIVITY 6(10 minutes) I want them to rewrite the sentences using the words in brackets,My aim is to use frequency adverbs in the right place a) The library is open on Sunday ( never) b) I am there on business (often) c) I do not agree with her (usually) d) It is raining when I want to go out ( always ) e) I get up very early (always ) f) I go to cinema ( often ) g) My teacher gets angry easily ( usually ) h) We tell a white l?ie (sometimes ) ?) The babies cry (usually ) i) My friend forget things that she will do (sometimes ) ACTIVITY 7(3 minutes) I write a poem “POLITENESS”on the board .And I want two or three students to read it .In this way they reinforce the structure of them and have chance to pronouncethem POLITENESS If people ask me, I always tell them; “Quite well ,thank you, I am very glad to say “ If people ask me , I always answer, “Quite well,thank you,how are you today? POST TEACHING (15 minutes) I ask students ?f there is something unclear.If there is I explain unclear things.Then I want them to make sentences as homework.Finally Imake them quiz. |
