Submitted by Sureyya Nur LESSON PLAN Lesson : English Class : 4-C Time : 45 minutes Unit : Unit 3 Present Continuous Tense Level : Beginners Materials: board, OHP, pictures, flashcards, worksheets, realia Goals : This unit provides structure and the usage of P.C.T Objectives: By the end of this lesson students will be able to express the present events and action and be able to make sentences in P.C.T. And also they will have learned the new forms of verbs ‘-ing.’ PRE-TEACHING ( 8 Minutes) I will enter clasroom with a lot of materials. While students are looking at me with questioning eyes, I’ll draw a television picture onto the board. Then I’ll greet students, ask question about what they ‘ve done the previous day and how they feel. Then I’ll sit on the chair and start to acting. After that, I’ll ask my question: “What am I doing now?”. I’ll write it onto board . Studenst will repeat after me. After repetation I’ll give the answer: ‘I am watching television’. Then I’ll go on acting. I’ll take a newspaper and start to read it. Then I’ll ask the question:”What am I doing?” and answer: “I am reading a newspaper”. I’ll do the same activity with a glass of water. WHILE TEACHING ( 30 Minutes) First Activity ( 10 Minutes) I’ll hang first then second picture onto the board. I’ll ask some questions about them. “What do you see in this pictures?”, “How many fishes are there?” and etc. After these questions the most important question will be asked : “What is Tom doing?”. Answer will be written onto board. Moreover, I’ll show OHTs and do the same activities with them. Second Activity (5 Minutes) This activity will be a group-work. Students will be divided into three groups. And I’ll give one small flashcard to each group. Then I’ll want students to think about pictures on the flashcards for a while and answer my question correctly. Answers that I expected from students will be: - He is dancing. - She is eating ice-cream. and, - He is playing with ball. Third Activity ( 7 Minutes) In this activity I’ll distribute photocopies of exercises to students. There are some words and students will make and correct sentences with these words. They’ll give their answers. 1 ( I / wash / my / hair) 2 ( She / sit / on a chair) 3 ( They / learn / English) 4 ( We / listen / to the radio) 5 ( You / smoke / a cigarette) Fourth Activity ( 8 Minutes ) Third activity will be a group-work. So I’ll seperate students into two groups. And I’ll want five volunteers to come to the board . I’ll give five flashcards to each student and want them to make a correct sentence with these words. They will be: - I am going to school. - They are playing football. - You are studying English. - She is reading a book . Fifth Activity ( 5 Minutes) building coming playing cooking swimming 1 Listen! Pat ...................... playing the piano. 2 They .............................................a new hotel in the city centre at the moment. 3 Look! Somebody ...................................................... in the river. 4 Hurry up! The bus ................................................... 5 ‘ Where are you, George?’ ‘In the kitchen, I ....................................... a meal. I’ll write these sentences onto board. Then I’ll have students to complete the sentences with using am / is / are and one of the verbs that I wrote above. POST-TEACHING ( 7 Minutes ) Again I’ll give photocopies to students. There are some situations in these pictures. Students will look at these pictures and make sentences with the verbs that are given on the photocopies. |
