Submitted by Ramazan Akbay Lesson: English Class: Prep A Time: 45 mins. Level: Beginners Unit: "SHOULD" Materials: Authentic materials, pictures, board. Goal: The main goal is to teach the structure of "should" and show the main characteristics of the process. Objective: By the end of the lesson students will be able to make sentences with "should". Procedure:Pre-teaching (5 min) Greeting and warming- up. I'll hold my mouth in order to imply that I have a toothache. And I'll say " I should go to dentist" . After this, I'll act as if my hands are dirty.And I'll say "I should wash my hands ". If the board isn't clean, I'll ask who is on duty and tell him /her: "You should clean the board." If some students are talking with each other, I'll say that "You should listen to me". I'll behave as if my clothes are dirty, I'll say " I should wash my clothes". And I will say that I have a headache and ask the class "What I should do?". If they can't answer ,I'll say "I should take an aspirin". Procedure While Teaching ( 35 mins.) Activity 1 (10 mins.) I will show the students a picture.In that picture,there are workers.And I will make sentences about them with using "should".After showing pictures,I will ask"What can you see in the picture?How many people are there in the picture?What are they doing?".And I will say by showing certain parts of the picture:"He should be careful.They should take a rest.He should hold the rop strongly.They should wear their cap." Activity 2 ( 7 mins.) In this activity,I will show another picture on which there are two babies.I will ask "What can you see in the picture?Do you like babies?".And I will say "They should sleep.They should drink milk.They should see their mothers." Activity 3 (10 mins.) This time,I will give students some cards on which there are clues that will help them to make sentences using "should".I will give one card to each student.And they will make sentences looking at them.For example,"brush my hair"...And the student will utter the full form of the sentence.And the others;"have a breakfast,sleep,go shopping,study my lesson... Activity 4 ( 8 mins.) In this activity,I will say "I should go home after school","I should take a bath after school".And I will ask each student:"What should you do after school?".And they will make their own sentences.. Post-Teaching ( 5 mins.) I will divide them in groups of two.And I will want them to make a dialogue between eachother using "should".At the same time,I will watch them and correct the sentences that are false. Extra Class Work I will want students to collect different magazines on which they can use "should".And I will want them to bring these pictures with them next lesson. |
