The big deal about "Stay What You Are" is that it is something totally different from other Saves The Day releases. Which for a band is natural as they grow as musicians (or just grow... old). Some might be disappointed, but personally I like it. I also enjoyed the previous album "Through Being Cool" but I think everyone would have been bored with another poppy punk rock album from Saves The Day. Yeah, this one's poppy and definitely easy to sing along with. But it's also different (mellow, slow-down) and innovative.
Some of the things that stand out the most is the maturity of the band and the creativity of lyrics from Chris Conley. Chris's lyrics are usually somewhat lighthearted and about girls or growing up. With this release, they've become darker while still staying catchy. You can say I'm jumping on the Vagrant bandwagon, but hey. I like it.
