The Gettysburg Encampment was a huge success. Unlike other spring
encampments, this was set up so that the various troops could camp
and work on the Gettysburg badge as they desired. It did rain,
but mostly at night, so we were able to stay dry most of the time.

Kim McNamee's has her hair done in traditional Civil War Era fashion.

This is the lady who told us about the women's role in the civil war.
On Saturday night, we took a group picture and then a few of us
gathered around a campfire to sing some songs and learn some more
interesting facts about the war. In all, I think everyone had
a great time.

Everyone at the encampment - at least it wasn't raining too hard!

On Saturday at 3pm, we all hiked about a mile over to an reenactment.
This reenactment was a little different than others that I had seen.
This one had 3 women in the camp who discussed the role of women in the
Civil War. One lady showed us how the women of that time period wore
their hair. She then took volunteers who wanted their hair 'fixed'.
She was a delight and taught us a lot. Of course at this reenactment
there was a shooting demonstration which helped to explain how the
fighting took place.
