Awakened

Oh that breeze, a chill but nice,
oh the moon, full and bright,
Thin clouds, dust the darkened sky,
while stars cover, all sky in sight.

Artificial light, shining through a window,
a young boy, watching his t.v,
listening to his mum and dad fight,
the tears in his eyes, reflect the pain in me.

The yellow lights gone, just the flicker of his screen,
his parents fighting ended, silence all around,
Its time for me to move, I brace myself and begin,
I try to move silent, across this dampened ground,
peering in the window, I see a girl asleep on a chair,
I see their dog, sleeping upon her lap,
I see their fire, the remaining small flames,
and in front their cat, upon the rug having a nap.

I move to the door, the handle turns,
I slowly push the door open, it gives a rusty creek,
the dog alerts, yet not loud enough to know where I am,
the girl awakes, then to the dog she does speak.

I run into the shadows dressed completely in black,
I hide in a bush, I watch her walk to the door,
in her lace white night gown, and flowing blonde hair,
as I leave I hear the scuffing of her slippers upon the floor.
