What You See

White window panes, frame her youthful face,
Steering down to the street, watching the rat race,
Her dull light backing her head, she shines in the night,
No one even notices her, sitting in plain sight.

White window panes, frame her beautiful face,
her wavy blonde hair, she’s what the boys love to chase,
Her skin clear, soft, and smooth,
her intelligence unmatched, she need not to prove.

White window panes, frame her radiant face,
but what people don’t see, is what sets her life’s pace,
She had to leave her boyfriend, and her friends as well,
Her mother died in hospital, short after their house did sell.

White window panes, frame her seen face,
The one that hides her true feelings, in the real ones place,
for nothing is as it seems, there’s not happily ever after,
I can not forget her lifeless, swinging from the rafter.
