I do not cease swimming in the seas of love, rising with the wave, then descending; now the wave sustains me, and then I sink beneath it; love bears me away where there is no longer any shore.

Entrance to the Garden
The Garden of Love is a page dedicated to poetry, philosophy, art, and other aspects of the Arabic and Islamic history and culture. This is a space I would like to use for sharing some of my thoughts, ideas, glimpses of inspiration, or just information, in an esayistic form, without restrictions typical for the academic discourse.

This garden is a maze of contradictory ideas, points of vue, emotional moments. It is supposed to reflect a complex personality in evolution, in a shuttle movement between West and East. That's why its always a work-in-progress, like a living garden.

This Garden of Love is a manner of making my solitude blossom and remembering that nobody is alone in this world, and its our task to make things grow even in the middle of the driest desert.

Love has many faces. There is love of men, love of books, and love of God.Only the third one exist really, the other two are only it's reflection. We are always in search of love, but love is God's wind, and blows where it wants, not us. We run after it and it seems out of range. But any moment it can be found inside.
Some of my favorite links:
Al-Bab. An open door to the Arab world - a useful page with information about many aspects of Islamic world (history, art, architecture...)
Princeton Online Arabic Poetry
Islamic Philosophy Online
The art of Arabic calligraphy
Traditional Arabic Music - really great page for information and excellent music samples
There is also another Riyad al-hubb, three master musicians, Mohamed El Arabi Serghini, Pascal Lefeuvre and Luis Delgado,  playing the music that appeared at the beginning of the 11th century in the brillant Umayyad court in al-Andalous (islamic Spain).
(The coincidence with the title of this page is purely accidental).
