11/30/01 - THE END OF AN ERA (1998-2001)
I thought it'd be important to post this, as it is major
news. As of Friday night, Max quit the band. He said that
he didn't know why he'd be doing it anymore, and his
inspiration to write more songs was gone. Cracks have
been building in our facade since Quinn joined Rule 22,
and Chris left town for a month. We've all developed very
different musical tastes as well as perceptions of how we
should be a band. I feel bad about doing this, but I know
that it is what I truely feel and believe to be true. For
all of those who came to our shows, bought our cds or
ever told us that we were any good, you made everything
worthwhile, and I thank every one of you. To the bands we
played with, and venues who hosted us we are enternally
grateful, for without you, no one would have ever known
we existed. These past three years have been a wild ride,
we gained many friends in many places, and the ten of us
who ever wore the colors of SSR each have our own
memories we'll remember forever. These three years have
been something truely extraordinary, and I'll never
forget them as long as I live.

7/2/01 - MP3'S FOR ALL
I uploaded some of the tracks off our debut cd, "We
Sold Out to Small Buisness" on MP3.com, so check out
the link in the bottom navigation bar in the lower 1/3 of
your screen to check them out!
7/1/01 - NEW MUSIC SOON
We're setting up recording time at Rosebud Studios this
week, new music soon. Thanks to anybody who came out to
see us friday, we tried our best to keep you entertained.
AND ARE SO, SO, SO, VERY SORRY for anyone who got roped
into that demonstration of christianity (if you can even
call it that). Believe what you want when you want to,
never take anything offered to you by a shouting man
wearing camoflague fatigues. That's what oppression truly
is. First Friday started as a great place to hear music
by local bands and IF YOU WERE interested, consider
christianity as a faith. It is now nothing more than a
lure to bring in the easily swayable minds of youth and
brainwash them with ideas not their own. Ideas are meant
to be spread by the olive branch of conversation, not the
bayonet of a rally where the doors are guarded during a
30 minute "presentation" (If you're into
this kind of thing, talk to Jim Jones about moving to his
"Jonestown") Due to this we're no longer
able to support the Agape Church of Waukegan's First
Friday, or play at their venue, without having a weight
upon our consciences. Once again thanks to everyone who
came- as of now we're working on obtaining shows with ska
bands The Lizdexics and The Slim Jim Conspiracy.
Stay tuned.
5/31/01 - SO MUCH NEWS
After many months, I finally have realized how much this
site desperately needs to be updated. So much has changed
since our last show in January! First off - lineup
changes! We finally have a concrete lineup - that won't
be changing every week or so. Max still sings and plays
guitar, Chris G. still plays bass Quinn still plays
drums, Tyler still plays sax, Ben still plays Trumpet,
Chris H. has decided to join to play saxophone. You may
have seen him at our last show in early May! Alas, Corey
no longer plays Trumpet for us. In developing our band,
we realized in order to be the best we could possibly be,
we need to each be 100% committed. Corey had different
priorities, which is cool, but we needed somebody who was
more consistent in their devotion to SSR. Harsh words
were spoken, and a clean break was made - it's done, it's
over, and we're moving on. Around this time we almost
broke up as a band, while each of us thought about what
we were doing, and if it still had the original meaning
it had when we started in 1998. The five of us agreed,
got Chris H., and worked harder than we have ever worked
before. It was definately apparent at our last show
earlier this month w/Hanging Effigy, Ekon Blue, and Mutt.
We got the strongest crowd response we've ever seen, and
sold out of cds.I don't think the crowd stopped moving
once during our set. After the show somebody asked meto
sign their cd, which was really cool, and it shows we've
changed for the better. ALSO - about cds - did you buy
our tape back in november? If so, bring it to one of our
shows and swap it for a cd if you should so choose. THE
NEW CD!! In a week or two, we are returning to record all
the songs we've written since our reformation this
spring. We are looking for ideas for the title of the cd,
if you have one, mail us! Oh yes we've got a show coming
up, so check shows. It's been a grueling process, but
we've come out on top, thanks to everyone for supporting
us through this!
11/12/00 - MORE THANKS!
Our show on friday destoyed! It felt great that we were
the only band to get any movement, especially when the
other bands were SFS, The Milkman's Kid, and Knockout. We
released "We Sold Out to Small Buisness" which
sold out of copies. The only bad news was that part of
the PA burned out (That's what you get for using Cold
War-era technology!) Hopefully we'll be trading up to
some better gear soon. More patches are on the way as are
CD copies of the EP! We need more shows, and will play
just about anywhere (If you want to book us goto the
shows section!)
11/4/00 - THANKS!
For everyone who came out to Agape in Waukegan to see us
last night, thanks a lot! The circle pit during Caffenine
kicked SO much ass! We're still recovering from recent
events and your support really helps! It was amazing to
play with UNX and Penny and the Loafers. We'll probably
be setting some more shows with both of them. We are
doing additional recording at Baby Doin the Jig tonite,
so hopefully we'll have a CD soon. Also check out the
multitude of new pictures we put up! We'll have even more
as soon as Corey finishes scanning the ones I gave him.
Also in the news, SFS has replaced Burnout for the show
on the 10th.
10/24/00 - MORE LINEUP CHANGES-
First off, typo earlier in the news, Ben is staying
aboard it seems, HOWEVER, Mark called Chris up on
Saturday stateing "He's Quitting" "he's
doesn't like the way we do things". Interpret that
as you will, we're clueless. JESTER RETURNS! Jester, the
boy-wonder of the deep south has come back to reinforce
our sound with a baritone sax! This week is also a
marathon practice week- SSR met yesterday, as well as
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! We won't
disapoint you at our next show! ALSO the show on the 11th
has been rescheduled to the 10th! Our website is
currently undergoing an overhaul. What does this mean?
More pics, a meet the band page, and a history page. STAY
TUNED!
10/20/00 - SHOW UPDATE
We've got a nice show planned for November 11th, this is
a reschedule of the one originally intended for October
28th. The line-up will be the beswe've played with in
some time! Knockout returns to play a show, with a new
drummer as well. The Milkman's Kid is coming from Vernon
Hills with their brand of punk ska (FINALLY A SKA BAND TO
PLAY WITH!). Also playing is Burnout, a pop-punk band
hailing from New Trier HS, this is their first major
show, so be sure to come. THIS SHOW IS GOING TO ROCK!
10/14/00 - BIG NEWS!
First off, sorry about the cancellation of today's show
for anyone who wanted to come.
Next BEN is longer with us, we had a meeting, and SSR
meant more to us than others, so our lineup has changed.
