Welcome to my website

Our school is different!
This site will introduce you to how
learning occurs within my courses.

      First of all, education is personal, and so I will start with how to contact me.

        How to Contact Me:

        (1) In Person: I will be around the school:

                    Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 4:00;
                    Tuesdays from 8:30 to 6:00; and
                    Fridays from 8:30 to 2:00.
        Whether I'm free to help you depends on my schedule of classes.

        (2) Phone: 416 - 393 - 9465

        We also have a 24 hour answering machine: 416-393-9465

        (3) E-mail: --which students may use for on-line:
                        * submission of work;
                        * asking questions.

      These webpages are intented as a frequently-updated guide for learners taking courses with me. I hope that they will help them to succeed in achieving their goals, especially their academic goals while attending Subway Academy One. My courses concern learning that occurs both inside and outside the classroom. Note that all of this is a work-in-progress, and I would appreciate your feedback on any aspect of it.

    A Hierarchy of Policies

      There are policies and proceedures set by the Ministry of Education, which apply to all classes in all school boards (see red box below). The TDSB (greeb box below) interprets these and adds some policies and proceedures of their own --although nothing is incompatable or inconsistent between the two. Within the TDSB there is Eastern H.S.C. (brown box) which sets some policies which apply to the entire building. Subway Academy One is another level in this hierarchy. Subway Academy One sets policies and proceedures for our whole school and these are described in our "Student Handbook". While nothing in this "Student Handbook" is incompatable with Eastern, TDSB, or the MoEdn --our rules apply only to us. Next there are my courses --and of course I have a certain way of doing things too. My approaches, which are described in these web pages, especially my policies and proceedures page, while not incompatable or inconsistent with any of the other levels, do not apply beyond my own classes. Note that all Subway Academy One, EHSC, TDSB, and Minsitry rules do apply to students in my courses. Finally, there is the level of the course. This specific class too will have a certain particular dynamic or culture about it. All larger levels will apply to it, but the descriptions and ways of doing things of each course will apply only to that course and not to anything else. For example, the course curriculum is set at the highest level, by the Ministry, for all classes in Ontario. But what we do in our little class does not apply to other classes elsewhere.
