The United States has two types of money

Currency and Coin

Currency is our paper money and comes in many denominations, or values.


One Dollar ($1) = 100 cents
Two Dollar = $2
Five Dollar Bill = $5
Ten Dollar Bill = $10
Twenty Dollar Bill = $20
Fifty Dollar Bill = $50
One Hundred Dollar Bill = $100

Coins are minted out of a metal or alloy. There are 5 common coins which we may use every day.

Penny or 1 Cent Nickel or 5 Cents Dime or 10 Cents Quarter or 25 Cents Half Dollar or 50 Cents

In the United States our coins are minted, or made, at the United States Mint. Our currency, or paper money, is made at the United States Bureau of Printing and Engraving.
