Puss_C now at peace somewhere over the rainbow 19.03.02
Chatty came into my life just over 4 years ago at the age of 11 - I had no idea what she looked like as - the same as with people - looks are so unimportant. I had rung the local cat shelter and told them I wanted an oap (old aged pussy) and one that would be quite happy being an indoor cat. All I asked was that she was a friendly soul and would be happy as a single parent cat as I live on my own<S>
Being disabled and in a lot I had loads of time and love to give - the lady told me that she had a black and white cat on her lap at the time I rang who just wanted cuddles - within half an hour she was on her way to me.
Little did I know when she arrived that she would walk in meowing like she was auditioning for Pop Idol, jump up onto my lap looking oh so pretty, and gaze into my eyes as if challenging me not to like her.
Her character proved to be that of a blueprint for a cat - she was loving, reactive (she would sit to command and roll over and show her tummy - such a tart! :o) and chatted even more than her Mum if that was possible - hence the name Chatterbox aka Chatty aka Drippy Knickers when her furry pyjamas got in the way of her ablutions ;-)
She was full of life, acted like a much younger cat and was very mummified - she wasnt that keen on children as she had been mis-treated thats why she needed a home - but when she got to know them especially Moodz and Homers son Craig - she got over her fears. She wasnt too happy when Moodz sat on her one day but she was hiding under the duvet at the time - not Moodz <G> Chattycat - but she never held grudges bless her. Ronan had the dubious honour of sleeping my pussy as did Deejay before him - she was never the same after those nights lol.
She was so laid back - she would watch roadworks outside - perhaps it was the workmens butt cleavages that attracted her <G> and the only noises she didnt like were fireworks and thunder which is understandable - freaks me out too! - and whistling but nothing really phased her and she was anyones for a cheese and onion crisp :o)
About 6 weeks ago she had some dental work - she came through fine but it seems her kidneys didnt cope very well with the anaesthetic and about 2 weeks ago she suffered acute kidney failure - the vet and I tried to stabilise her - my flat looked liked a tasting day at Sainsburys deli counter as I tried to tempt her with every food imaginable - but she couldnt manage anything - so with a heavy heart she was taken to the vet to be given peace.
I have to say the care and compassion and dignity that was given at the vet was amazing - I held her as she was sedated first sso she wouldnt have problems with the main injection - and then held her whilst they gave her a *long-term sleeping draught* - I talked to her, kissed her head and stroked her. They then left me alone with her and we had our private goodbyes - yes it was hard - it still is - but I wouldnt have missed the time she gave me for the world - and although she will never be replaced she has now left a space for me to have another oap with a different personality to fill the gaping hole she has left in my heart.
Always remembered you never put a paw wrong with loving thoughts of my extra special Puss_C (((((((((Chattycat =^..^=))))))))) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
