HELLO

music
today...

why oh why do i hate watching TRL? maybe it's because i feel so left out...like my generation has become the older crowd...and i don't appreciate the popular music like i did when i was in high school. i can feel it, my music (smashing pumpkins, cranberries, the cure, melissa etheridge, yada-yada-yada) is starting to become the music for those "oldies" stations my parents used to have. well, maybe i'm exaggerating. but i will say that i cherished the early 90's music more than the late 90's. okay, okay, okay, yes, i do own a few "new kids on the block" cd's. those were my teen heart-throbs. and now the gen-y (geez, why do they get that name...because of us gen-x'ers???) ha. i liked the grunge...i like the alternative...i do like the lilith-fairesque sounds of some lady singer/songwriters. i like a whole wide range of music. i'm grateful for the new country image. i love my shania cd's and that kewl dixie chicks cd. okay, it's very "country-lite". there are some bands out there that make me want to turn on the radio...and then there are some that make me want to turn it off...

well, what i should be really saying is that i really don't like the teeny-bopper music that infiltrates the airwaves and mtv. you're right, i should just switch stations. hmm...i'm kinda stupid, because i catch myself singing one of those teeny-bopper songs...i guess it's not that bad...it's just there are so many of them out there!!!! ahh! i can't tell who's who from mandy moore (gawd! her video makes me sick...how can a chic move her lips move like that...over-emphasizing her "O"-ing technique are getting hard-ons from every teenage boy!) from jessica simpson to what's her face, er, geez, i'm blanking here! yeah. and what's this about the 98 degrees guy and that jessica simpson person together? hello! gag! people that perfect and beautiful and TOGETHER makes me sick...and their song! geez, icky-poo cutsie stuff that makes me gag...oi. maybe i'm jealous...

anyhoo, i guess, i don't have that much complaints about the music today. sure, it's infiltrated with teen pop...but i like most of it. it's hard for me to hate something. okay, maybe eminem. i have much respect for any musicians who make it...it's hard. but, things come and go. i know that...so, i'm just waiting around when the teeny-bopper phase fades out...and hoping whatever replaces it is tolerable...ha.
