The Great Gatsby Composition

100 points

In your last composition, you worked on finding support for your thesis from sources of reliable literary criticism. For this composition, you’ll be taking another step towards the type of writing assignment you will be expected to complete in college. Not only will you be supporting your thesis with literary criticism, but YOU will also be creating your own topic…that’s right; no prompts from Suelly.

You need to decide what aspect of The Great Gatsby you want to write on and create your own arguable thesis. You have hundreds of directions to consider. A paper could be written about themes in the novel, characterization, setting, symbolism, and so on. You may also choose to compare or contrast The Great Gatsby to another work we have read this year, or take a look at Fitzgerald’s role at the author of the book. The possibilities are endless. You have a chance to build upon your own thoughts about and opinions of the story, so think of a topic that is interesting, original, and plausible.
